Glen, that looks amazing! You are just focused on the blemishes, since you made it. For us, that can just step back and look at it, it is very well done. It is a different look, and looks amazing. Kinda has a terminator, or stealth fighter vibe for me. Well done.
@@TAMIYALegends I have a tt02 with the optional high speed gear set #54500. I stripped the plastic spur gear and was wondering if you know of a metal replacement. Thanks
Looks ace to me! Not bland at all - strong, in fact. That paint seems super-tricky, running into tiny stress cracks like that. Great to see this kind of thing covered.
I think you should get yourself an airbrush. It will make getting into those small areas much easier . You can get a cheap airbrush kit with compressor for under $100. The Tamiya Spraywork is also good and it's what I use for RC bodies. Those gouges at the front were also caused by the scissors digging into the lexan. I never use scissors to cut out those little areas. I always use a hobby knife using the cut and snap method. I would also recommend getting a rotary tool for smoothing those sections out. It doesn't need to be a Dremel, there are cheap ones around that work just as good for RC bodies. The key to all this is to have patience because you need to be happy with the final result. I once spent over 3 hours cutting out a body to get it just right. I am sure some people could do it a lot quicker than me though.
Looking good 👍 she needs color stripes to set it off. Also if you have trouble with paint in the small crevices. I use a fine paint brush and spray the paint on a disposable surface and pick it up with the brush really good for touch ups before back coat.
@@TAMIYALegends Ive learned quite a bit about actually fixing my old Tamiya's off of your videos. My 6 year old nephew and i watch while we're wrenching away!!
Next time put(spray) some paint in a water bottle cap dip a fine paintbrush in the paint and do your touch up before doing your dark coat . Love the color
Think it look's awesome!!!! The chrome finish is sweet. Nice job. Try spraying some paint into the lid of the can and applying the paint to the awkward parts of the wing with a brush. Either that or I find a very close but quick pass with the can works well, aiming the spray to the bottom of the recess. Do several passes with plenty of time for each pass to dry, this will avoid the paint pooling and leaving clear spots. Keep up the good work :)
Hi Glenn Looks really good The trouble with those sort of specialist paint from cans they are always a little temperamental Get yourself an airbrush kit as it’s so much easier to spray the fine details and it’s more of a uniform spray and the colour is endless
Hey brotha I may have a solution for your wing spray issue. Spray the paint into a small paper cup then use a brush to brush the paint into those annoying wing corners. Oh n btw great looking job my dude!! Maybe some chrome gold stickers instead?
if you wanted a color like that blue you could use transparent blue first then the silver you could also back with clear coat if your worried about spots your missed
I've trimmed polycarbonate using thin wooden dowling with sandpaper glued on as polycarbonate tends to fracture at the end of the cut with scissors,a razor blade can also be useful to scrape away material at 90degrees,like the paint it could also work well with a base of coloured clearcoat?
The chrome stickers works very well on the alu color! Like when you have glossy black on matte black, or vice versa, on vinyl wrapped cars and stuff. A shame on the cracks in the front. :/
Don't know where to drop this question so gonna try here … is it a good idea to put/spray some clear coat over the stickers on the outside of the shell ? Has anyone ever done this ?
Filip De Groof Yeah I know a lot of guys who do that, but on the hard body shells. Be interesting to see if anyone responds who’s done it on the polycarbonate shell 🤔
