here after just finishing part 1! Thank you soooo so much! I am so grateful for all of this information. Seriously I cant say it enough, I am not a person who usually comments on anything on YT but this was value I was not expecting and now I am going to implment all of this and hop to part 3!
Woohoo! This series is still helpful/relevant, but you also may enjoy my brand new course that just dropped on Tuesday! It's showing you how to build a WordPress site using a different theme and page editor and is a bit more comprehensive than this series. 100% on my website at craylor.academy. Thanks for commenting!
Hey craylor, this series is extremely helpful for helping me build my website. i made one in the past but I had no idea what I was doing and it was pretty basic lol. Not once in this series have I gotten lost thanks to your clear and concise teaching method/video format! Keep up the great work, I'm onto part 3 now!😁
I've made a few wordpress sites, but wanted to see something specific for Salient since this is my first time using it. While I haven't yet seen a ton of things REALLY specific to Salient yet (I'm at 13:25), I ended up learning a few other things... and you kinda sold me on the WP Bakery backend lol
Another question from a beginner: is there a way to switch between the mobile and the desktop view and work on them separately instead of doing this row by row? Like Squarespace where you can just switch between them?
This isn't possible at all in the backend editor. You can view the mobile version in the frontend editor, however, it will still show desktop elements grayed out if you have a duplicate (assuming one is for mobile and one is for desktop).
Hey, loveee the video. Will you be posting new content on salient? Looking to learn more on how to use the different functions more to further customize my menus and link outside content to the pages of my site. If you have any videos already, would love to be linked to them. Thank you!
Have you used the premium version of wpbakery in this video? Because there is no frontend editor in the version I have. There is an edit live option instead. Please reply
Stupid question: I am on version 12. Current version is 17. How can I safely upgrade without damaging the existing site? Can I just buy the new version and import it and it will be treated as a new separate theme and I can switch between them?
If you have purchased Salient before, you do not need to re-purchase. You can download the latest theme file from Themeforest and upload it to the Themes screen in WordPress to upgrade (themenectar.com/docs/salient/updating-salient/). However, it *will* overwrite the current theme (not be treated as a new theme), so I strongly recommend taking a backup that you can easily restore if something goes wrong. Your web host may be able to do this for you, but if not, use a plugin like All In One WP Migration to export a copy of WordPress first. Also, if your host supports staging environments, you could clone your site to a staging/development environment and run the update there. Once you are comfortable with the status, you can push it to production.
This is video #2 and honestly, I was looking for information specifically about Salient. Virtually nothing about Salient in video #1, and 15 minutes into this one, not much more. I think you could probably title the video a bit more accurately so that people who don't need lessons on wordpress and wordpress hosting aren't wasting so much time. It's all good stuff, just not labeled well.
For me it's still hard to work on backend editor. I have same problem of old version e-commerce designed by Gutenberg and I want to redesign with Elementor pro in a staging environment, like you said in other videos it's better with Elementor than Wpbakery

OMG! I love the salient theme! I have the old version and the ARCHIVES in the footer was driving me crazy. Thanks for helping me find it!
I've put in all my chips in Wpbakery and Salient. There's a lot out there. I like how this works so far. I'll give progress in 6 months. Thank Bud.
Still 7 yrs my fav SOLID page builder and Salient top 3 themes of all time!

GREAT CONTENT. LEARNING SO MUCH 😄😃😃
Editing in Word is so much better qnd leaves you with many more options. Just copy and paste into WP

Can you give me a good reason to use Salient over Avada? I have the impression that Salient is pretty basic in features?

In my case, front end editor is quite unresponsive while working, takes a lot to load media images. So I have to use Backend Editor
How to create a header navigation that wraps to a new line for a multi line navigation menu?
