Thank you Trent, a very concise and informative overview of both. Interestingly I had a site built for me not knowing anything about page builders and with limited experience myself of website building. I had made it clear to the developer that I would need to edit the site from time to time. For me then WP Bakery was going to be a chore and require me to update my knowledge. I had picked Elementor Pro for the job before seeing your video, but you definitely reenforced the changeover. Thanks again, excellent review.
Thank you very much! I am not sure if im gonna need to watch more of you videos but I just subscribed anyway because you explained this so well and you only have 600+ subscribers yet.

When I saw the title I thought is was about baking something (lol) and it seemed odd because of your channel, but seeing it love the perspective great work Trent!!
Getting a lot of Divi users! I’ll have to make a video about it haha. Divi is good. I’d put it between these two. Somewhat less user friendly than elementor but way better than wpbakery
This video is incredibly well put together and easy to follow. Thanks for the insights. I'm looking at building my first site and deciding between themes that use either WP Bakery or Elementor... This made the decision for me.
Thanks for clearing that up, I've a site which was built for me using bakery but I've found it a real pain to make changes, I'm going to rebuild it using Elementor.
I'm a Pro subscriber to Elementor and Divi. Both are great! I currently only use Brizy, which is recent and growing fast. Easy to create and develop websites. Clean, creative, I find it perfect for web design. It has uncomplicated models and blocks! About WP Bakery, ex-Visual Composer, watching your video I gave up.
Thank you Trent for sharing about these templates. I tried one time Elementor and it felt really easy to use. I appreciate your comparison with WPBakery!
hi, This video happen to me as a blessing in disguise I was just about to buy Salient theme and l aready had elementor experience thinking it would be on bonus to know WP bakery but after seeing your video I agree with you that it is a unessesaary hastle....Thanks heaps.
Thanks for the question! Last I checked it wasn’t possible to migrate your site without rebuilding it. But I want to just add a disclaimer that it’s been quite a while since I checked up on that
This is very informative Trent, where were you when I was setting up my site!? Really appreciate you sharing this. Also love the quality of your video, good work!
Honestly thatnk so much for this video! I've been using WP Bakery since I started building my website 3 years ago and I never really loved it! Took me hours to understand how to move a bloody text from the left to the centre and simple things like that! I though it was becuase of my lack of knowledge but hey, that's why I'm paying for a page builder, so i don't have to stress about it! Now I'm debating if I should start using elementor, but I don't really know how to do it without messing up every page's layout 😭
Thanks, Tania! So happy it helped you out. :). I totally agree - WPBakery is frustrating to say the least. They contacted me after I made this video to tell me they have a new software that's supposed to be a big upgrade, so I'll check that one out as well, but as I said in the video - Elementor is hard to beat right now. The one downside of switching is that you have to rebuild your pages. There isn't an easy way to migrate from one to the other. But I'd say just grab the lite version for now (free) and see how it feels to recreate your homepage from there. If it's easy for you, then you have your answer! :)
Thank you so much for these tips. I have a client and their site was used creating Bakery and I have taken over management of this site but I se elementor which is more straight forward, is it possible to reset everything on this site and then use elementor as the page builder? We are trying to avoid getting another site.
Sorry for the delayed response! Is it possible, yes. But I'm going to tell you ahead of time it's an absolute mess. You're really not far from just rebuilding the entire site using elementor.
@@TrentKennelly Actually, I don't mind redoing the pages, I just need to find out if I can reset the same site, get Elementor then start working. And thank you so much for your response.
Great question! I just double checked to make sure I didn't miss an update haha. My answer is still no. Gutenberg is constantly at least 2-5 years behind the competition, and I have to say that, while this is WAY better than it used to be, it's still worth your money to grab Elementor because it's much more intuitive and saves you time you could be spending on other things in your business
Hey, thanks for the question! To be honest I’m not sure why you’d want to. It’s more likely to cause a lot of hassle than it is to provide you the best of both worlds. Both of these builders effectively take over the page they’re building, so if you try to build content with WPBakery and edit it on elementor (or vice versa), it won’t work because the builder won’t recognize the infrastructure of the competing builder. CAN you install both? Yes, but ultimately you’d only be able to use one builder at a time so you’re just jumping indiscriminately between builders without any material gain for doing so. Hope that answers your question :)
In Wpbakery having save template option, and we can use that Designs/Element wherever we needs to use on click. In elementor Not 100% sure this features is available or not?
Very good content. Very helpful factors in making a decision on which is best for you.. I like how you share areas to avoid (how some sites will make it live before you are ready when trying to preview)...
Thanks so much! I haven’t heard of Brizy but I’ll definitely check it out now! As to the question about Arvada and similar themes with builders - I’m typically not a fan. They aren’t flexible or easy to work with. Specifically I seem to recall Avada having this issue (it’s been awhile though)
@@TrentKennelly Great! I'd like to know your thoughts about it when you get there. For what I've heard, Brizy is 100% frontend without the extra menus Elementor has on screen, more faster, and almost equally on pricing and features.

Hi, Pablo! Fair enough point - you're right it would potentially help you learn HTML/CSS better, but at the same time - isn't that against the whole reason these builders exist? If we want to make website building easier for everyone, then rigidity is not the way to go. What do you think?
Hi Trent. It was really helpful. coming to that elementor is better. I have a question. Can I have two page buildrs in one website or one theme? Wpbakery and Elementor both? Now I have to make some new pages on that website and hav to do its SEO. So, can I use elementor for making new pages on it? without removing the wpbakery?
Hey, thanks so much! Glad to hear you found it helpful. There isn’t a really clean way to do this. You typically can only have one page builder per Wordpress instance. That isn’t to say having two installed is impossible, but they’re effectively two different ecosystems. You’ll be recreating very asset, template, etc to realign between the two systems. Not to mention that this will likely slow your site was down. The best suggestion I can give to avoid that is to create a second Wordpress instance on a subdomain. But that isn’t a clean solution since you’ll be missing every customization from the current setup.
Nice vid Trent. I downloaded a theme from monsterone and it uses wpbakery. Worst mistake ever. You nailed it with the various issues. Thanks for bringing some clarity.
Appreciate it! Sometimes the theme is the problem ... but WPBakery definitely has its share of problems itself. They're definitely at an "update or die" moment
@@TrentKennelly when I say slow I'm speaking of the work flow... Not the system. I can create a full blown page in 3 minutes where as in Elementor that same page would take 3X as long to design. I hate having to click text fields 3 and 4 times to edit text. Little things like that. Having to click back and forth between the live preview and the edit pane. I just started using Elementor literally a week ago so I'm still not familiar with all the shortcuts. It's growing on me though.
@@commiezombie2477 ah gotcha! Yeah, there are definitely some UI things that can be improved. Text editing is a great example - drives me nuts that sometimes you can use the side panel field to edit text and others you have to edit in the editable webpage itself. And you just have to know the difference. But overall in my personal opinion it’s worlds away from WPB
Hello, That is the video i was looking for. I bought a fancy theme for a website project which comes with WPB integrated, but it is really limited at all. I have to use just the feature of the themes and the few from WPB and that’s all. I am felling frustrated because the theme is slowing the website speed drastically. What do you recommend to me. Build up again from zero the entire website or try to use another website builder together with WPB for the other features of the website. I’ve seen that some people use Visual Composer with WPB to insert the features missing. I try to use Elementor to design the other pages of the website but since the fancy fucking theme comes with WPB it gives many errors and slowdown the web. Hope you can give me some hopes.
Building from zero sucks, but it helps to keep everything homogenized. I’d suggest for now that you use elementor for anything new and slowly move everything else away from WPB. No doubt it’s a pain though. Sorry you’re going through it :(
Totally agree, Elementor is where it's at. I hadn't heard about the new VC, good for them! I think they just recently raised their prices as well, so we'll see how it plays out.
I buy a lot of WordPress templates and it seems some of the best templates come with wpbakery.r. I wonder why. I am not really a fan of either and dont really like bloated packages that come littered with stuff i may never use.
My theory there is that WPBakery was the industry standard for a LONG time until Elementor came around. So most templates still cater to it somewhat. Otherwise - totally agree, there's so much bloatware in a few of these haha
Been using VC and WPBakery for many many years now. Was contemplating switch to Elementor but couldn't justify paying stupid money for subscription getting almost nothing extra in return. Elementor is a resource hog and HTML it generates is actualy more ugly than WPBakery.
Damn, i wish i've see this a few days earlier. I just paid 70 dollars for a fancy theme including wpbackery and yes it seem clucky to use. Especcially since i didnt use wp in 8 years. For a somple site like mine i probably could havr the free version of elementor which i already had installed as a plugin but nooooo i had to get fancy. Well, i got schooled through my wallet.
Oof, sorry to hear it! WPB is still fine, elementor just really beats it haha. Though I think the decision is whether you’re really going to stick to one or the other, because if you decide to switch it’s really not easy.
@@TrentKennelly hi Trent, a friend send me a *free* version of elementor. He says it's the pro version. Is it possible for me to switch from wpbackery to elementor and still use the theme? Possibly without losing my progress so far. (Backed up ofcourse) Or can i use them both at the same time? Thx in advance.
Yeah, but it does make some sense when you consider that they’re serving both smaller markets (people with one business) and website building firms at the same time. Most people have no reason to buy higher than the & $49 package
It's so funny how these days everyone wants to explain how to make wordpress do the most complex stuff, but there are no resources explaining how to use it for blogging, the thing it was primarily created for. I don't want to make an ecommerce site, i don't want to make a hotel booking site, I just wanna make a blog!!! sighs
Their pricing didn’t really change for lower plans though. Are/were you on a plan with more than 3 sites? If so then it changed. If not I believe it’s the same
Thank you so much for the feedback! When you say "another" stressful element - were there other things about this video that got to you? Always open to improving my content. :)
hmm sorry.: my mother tongue is German. I mean, "a" stressful element - Thats my personal experience when I watch explanatory videos with music in the background. Thank you for your content!!!
For someone that hasn't touched either of them, with Elementor you can figure out because it is intuitive but WPBakery, F***. It is not my first rodeo with Page Builders and you just can't figure out WP Bakery, it is not intuitive. Right now I'm working on a client site since yesterday and can't figure out this crap! I Hate WP Bakery! 🤮
Lol good one. Yes I have affiliate links, but that’s honestly just good practice. I’ve actually used both extensively and find Elementor superior in a lot of ways. Though I hear they’ve come out with a newer version of wpbakery I haven’t tested yet. (Edited for clarity about what new version there was)
@@TrentKennelly I prefer WP Bakery, I find elementor restrictive especially with backend editor. I feel overall WP Bakery is much easier to use vs elementor, as you mentioned needs some features upgrading otherwise I cant really complain.

Appreciate it! Sometimes the theme is the problem ... but WPBakery definitely has its share of problems itself. They're definitely at an "update or die" moment
Great review of the two options - helpful to make a decision for sure!
Happy to come in with the assist!
Idk wp bakery adding rows is pretty much as easy as it comes. You click the plus button and select Row.
Still, in my opinion, how it plays on the page is just a bit confusing. You prefer it to the elementor setup?
Lol WP bakery is trash
We learn something new everyday.
Definitely!
Very helpful. Great video.
Thanks so much!
Elementornis maaaaad slow. But slightly more powerful. If WP bakery had some of elementors features I'd never switch.
Really? That’s crazy I haven’t experienced that. What system (hosting, etc) are you working with?
Sorry you’re going through it :(
Awesome video. Thank you
Appreciate it!!
Amazing video. Thanks!
Appreciate that so much!
Se puede usar Bakery sin licencia. Fresh, todo muy bien, y el trabajo desde el editor de backend... se equivoca al comienzo
Hi! Sorry, I had to use Google translate so it wasn’t clear to me - what was wrong at the beginning?
I'd go Elementor 100X over. Though, now that they've raised so much VC money, pricing may get jacked up quite quickly.
Totally agree, Elementor is where it's at. I hadn't heard about the new VC, good for them! I think they just recently raised their prices as well, so we'll see how it plays out.
You are a monster! A Well of knowledge!
Haha thank you! There’s always more to learn. :)
Tks, from Brazil!
You got in, Janser!
*ELEMENTOR*
_ESSENTIAL: US$ 49/ year_
_ADVANCED: US$ 99/ year_
_EXPERT POPULAR: US$ 199/ year_
I thought it was a one off payment
Thanks for the clarification! Sorry if what I said was somehow misleading. Yes, Elementor is yearly and WPBakery is a one-time payment.
Elementor is best. Wp bakery is wrost there is not much customization option
Definitely love elementor!
Hands down...ELEMENTOR, ALL THE WAY!!!
I AGREE, wpbakery is just way too CLUNKY and it makes me ANGRY why they'd make simple tasks too COMPLICATED :(
Agreed! They apparently have a different product that’s better but… I’ll stick to elementor thanks haha
@@TrentKennelly i'm starting to get the hang of it now. Not so bad afterall i guess.
@@ikealamp53 yeah, definitely manageable haha. Good luck!!
Have you noticed the huge price jump on Elementor? 1 Website $49, 25 Websites $199, 100 Websites $499, and 1000 Websites $999.
Yeah, but it does make some sense when you consider that they’re serving both smaller markets (people with one business) and website building firms at the same time. Most people have no reason to buy higher than the &
$49 package
Thanks
You’re welcome!!
It's so funny how these days everyone wants to explain how to make wordpress do the most complex stuff, but there are no resources explaining how to use it for blogging, the thing it was primarily created for. I don't want to make an ecommerce site, i don't want to make a hotel booking site, I just wanna make a blog!!! sighs
I can understand that! But one way or another your blog should have a homepage and a few other structured pages.
I paid 70 dollars today 😨😰 trying the make the refund option work 😢
It’s too bad that Elementor spiked their pricing. Just not worth it.
Their pricing didn’t really change for lower plans though. Are/were you on a plan with more than 3 sites? If so then it changed. If not I believe it’s the same
background music is distracting... another stressful element - hard to focus. sigh.
@@gabrielepichler no problem at all! That’s great to know either way. I’ll keep it in mind for future videos. Thank you so much!
Sponsored by Elementor!
Haha if only! Times have changed since this video was made. Elementor has become much more bloated and less friendly
Oof! Sorry to hear that! Totally agree, there’s really no contest between them! Nuts that people still use it
This guy is just an affiliate marketer. He's biased towards Elementor because he'll get a larger commission if we click on his link and purchase it.
Lol good one. Yes I have affiliate links, but that’s honestly just good practice.
I’ve actually used both extensively and find Elementor superior in a lot of ways. Though I hear they’ve come out with a newer version of wpbakery I haven’t tested yet.
(Edited for clarity about what new version there was)
Seems extremely bias.
Hi, James! Sorry to hear you think that. In what way was it biased to you?
I hate elementor !
Oh no! Why?
@@TrentKennelly I prefer WP Bakery, I find elementor restrictive especially with backend editor. I feel overall WP Bakery is much easier to use vs elementor, as you mentioned needs some features upgrading otherwise I cant really complain.
