Hello ARIA, We are Ti’amā, another Outremer 55 now in Guadeloupe. What was the wind to permit you to sail 18knots with only Solent and main on one reef ? Ti’amā is quite « overloaded », and we (only 2 of us) never sail at such speed 😕
hello Ti’amā, we left keros with almost 30 knots of wind. 140 degrees in the wind and little wave because we were protected by the island. Here with solent and main on one reef we were travelling between 15 and 18 knots (first part of the video). Then, as we approached Santorini, the wind dropped to 20 knots, the wave increased and the speed dropped to between 10 and 13 knots. I think there are no tricks or secrets, even ARIA is quite heavy. The combination of wind strength and direction and the sea conditions created favourable conditions for speed. However, the highest speeds (peaks over 20 knots) we did with downwind jennaker.@@stephetbeaenmer
@@IviaggidiARIAthanks for the answer 😁. We have a lot of heavy stuff on Ti’amā (generator, dive compressor, dive equipment, 3 tanks, 3 more sails, Bromptons bikes, plenty of wine, rhum. Always full Diesel and water tanks, heavy chain and anchor, etc. Matthieu told us not to overload. But we live onboard 😎. We sail 50% to 60% the speed done by « official » polars. And since we left La Grande Motte last year, it was finally perfect for us. No fear due to too much speed, and confortable sailings. Hope to se you one day in the Caribbean 😁
Thanks for sharing. That’s what sailing it’s all about it. Beautiful family!
What a sensation feeling that would be.
No wonder there's big smiles everywhere!
Thanks for having the foresight to take this video. Well done!!? 😃😃😃
Thank you Pete 😉
Let’s go! That’s awesome
Awesome boat, nice footage. If you need crew let me know!
