NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell released a statement on camera about the Black Lives Matter movement, four years after Colin Kaepernick first kneeled during the U.S. national anthem.
Goodell said, 'We, the National Football League, condemn racism and the systematic oppression of Black people. We, the National Football League, admit we were wrong for not listening to NFL players earlier, and encourage all to speak out and peacefully protest. He admits they were wrong and yet no word about Colin Kaepernick. You owe that man an apology.
Wouldn’t say his name.. SMH
And proper reparations.
Colin Kaepernick needs a press conference from Roger Goodell to publicly announce his own guilt. Colin should demand restitution for his lost income.

The kicker is that now that he's been out of the league a couple seasons and he hasn't been getting game time reps or even game style looks on a practice squad his skills will have diminished... He's lost something that they can't give back and will impact his ability to return effectively even if he gets a job. He can't get back what he's lost... and that's a shame.
Only sorry bcus it’s affecting their 💰. Football players should start a new league.
Facts
The boycott would have impacted the $ and made them care, but too many people ignored it.
Exactly
Yup stop making white guys rich
I have an honest question and don't attack me because I don't even watch football. But how is the protest impacting their money? Didn't covid do that?
They should issue a formal apology to Collin Kaepernick honestly. Long overdue.
National Football League should pay Collin Kaepernick reparations
They should pay him back wages at the maximum he could have received under 100% perfect circumstances.
edit: by this, i mean the maximum the nfl would willing to pay the very best star qb they have, and pay him that much for every year he has been removed from play, starting the year he took a knee.
US Reparations for the Black ADOS (American Descendants of Slavery) are long overdue.

NFL was trending on Twitter. So yeah, some people cared.

He should be new commiss
The national anthem should not be played at private sporting events like the NFL. It should be reserved for special occasions like funerals, Veterans Day, Memorial Day.
No.. Im all for kneeling in protest and I understand black people get f*cked with but the national anthem should and will always be played at every american sports fixture.. what's wrong with you

Kaepernick?
I LOVED when the Texas Rep would smile when pronouncing his views..beautiful
They should make every player kneel
At the first game
Maybe change that to Ask.
It’s not the same if they are forced to
Making them do something solves nothing, if you are imposing it on someone then it isnt their choice and therefore they dont support it or will do anything beyond what you tell them they have to.
Should be more like fans and players should kneel down outside the stadium for 8:46 minutes and then go home after. And that should be on the opening day
They definitely should make anyone kneel. I just want the people who want to kneel to be able to without worrying about being blackballed.🤷🏿♂️
Now everyone wants to be part of a movement, hypocrites, they should have done something then not now. I do like beto’s video, though.
That was an old video of beto, while he was running for senate against Ted Cruz. I am from India and was following that. When he lost I lost hope too and sure enough Fassism has crept into my country too.
thank you. I don't believe the nfl n those who change they engery. keep it the same now
You don't start an authentic apology with "it has been a difficult time for our country".
"We, the NFL, really need some cash so yeah fine black lives matter whatevs please come to our games."
Pay Kapernick for the years you blackballed him and then we'll talk. On another note... Drews first game before people is going to be dead battery day.
Kaepernick is fraud, you know that right?
@@lking1540 please elaborate.
@@bobe7559 well I'm just saying, he has no problem kneeling when nothing of his matters, but when it's time to make that money he's right out there on the field to get that money. Don't you think that's a little hypocritical, plus when was the last time you saw him leading a march, not ever if there even is one time. Plus, you have to remeber how much those players make, but never share that money with the community's they claim to care about.
@@lking1540 Kneeling when nothing mattered? He knelt and lost his career man. He found a super peaceful way to protest but people found reasons to attack him. @@lking1540 my dude, Kaepernick is black. Therefore this always matters to him.
When they asked him what he was nearly he said because of police brutality against the black community.

Beautiful emoji usage. All people, all races coming together as one to fight racism and white supremacy.
Thats great but when is someone that holds office power going to step up and say that they're reforming the system?
I hear you. Those with power to make real legal changes to the broken system and systemic racism needs to step up. Of course the appreciation for all voices speaking up is there but we need those voices with power as well.
The shouldn't comment on anything
Wow look, the NFL finally has integrity. (Sarcasm ) come show me a video about how the NFL is taking responsibility for all the women players have beaten. Something real that has to stop.

Wooow, that speech just touched my heart.

It's being humble to admit when you're wrong. Something people in public service should be able to do.
At this point apologies are just overrated. We want actions. Y’all keep apologizing after making the same mistake, we will not have Stockholm syndrome. Make a mistake once, you’ll be forgiven, make it a second time and you’ll be cut off. If we cut them off we bleed them out. Kappernick needs to call them out saying they are lying and saving face. Until they give him his career back or reimburse him they are clearly lying.
The NFL Must be getting hit in the pockets by sponsors!
I still love Beto just for his bold, beautiful, eloquent, well researched response to the faux outrage of players taking a knee.
We need Kapernick on the field!
Actions > Words
Until he and the other owners stop black balling Kapernick his words are hollow
Beto holds the mic like he's about to drop a fire 16.
If Goodell expects this mea culpa to be taken seriously, then he will announce very soon that Kaepernick is guaranteed a starting QB spot in the NFL next season.
Would they be saying this if recent events hadn't taken place?
YOU GIVE KAP HIS GOD DAMNED JOB BACK.
So give Colin Kaepernick his career back, with a fat bonus on top!
Then allow your players their 1st amendment right to kneel.
How about you give KAP his job back!
Roger Goodell's statement felt so scripted, forced, and not genuine....
The NFL and players should think hard about the kneeling as this just brings animosity. We see what this movement is about. The players would get the message to more people if they stood for the anthem and the NFL had a separate moment for message about police brutality. ...... but kneeling isolates a large group and is not productive if WE ALL are supposed to be in this together. Send this to Goodell and the players. Kneeling further divides...there is a better way. UNITE US!! I would welcome a separate moment at each game for the message, I would not take a knee during it either.
Once y'all pockets getting hurts, now you see you were wrong. 🤦🏿♂️
Reparations from NFL for Kaep.
Oh young man in the audience. You walked into the lions den and got devoured instantly.
Why didn't he say this when Colin was telling him the NFL was racially profiling him he don't mean what he say just HYPE
Football as great as it's been is on the verge of extinction because of stupid decisions by this ignorant commissioner. this suckin' up to the "Black" players is a slap in the face of America and the people that have made this what it is...... R.I.P.
I'm pretty sure he didn't actually look into the camera even once, speculative as it may be it was emotionless and cold, probably due to the fact that it was all scripted, so he didn't mean a word of it. He only did this because enough people finally stood up to the corruption in the system to the point of exigency.
Why oh why it took this long for the NFL Commissioner to speak out especially when Kapernick to a knee. He should also recognize Kapernick for pointing out the injustice. Seeing the second story with Beto O'Rourke and wondering why he is not the Texas Senator. His profound answer on why taking a knee is not disrespectful is so poignant.
This doesn't feel genuine at all.
Apologize to Colin Kapernick. He's a national hero
he will say anything for the money/support smh. hopefully he means it now
He says it when it’s easy, not when it was hard.
Wow. took you long enough to speak.
I wonder why?
Good man. Thank you.
Edit: The second speaker made me burst into tears, which hasn't happened in a long time. Thank you for your work.
Excellent response Beto. You are right on the button. I love your response. You are a true American, seeing both sides of the coin and speaking up for those whose voices have been silenced. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
It's funny how certain people realise something was wrong after they've lost.
Nah not buying it. They just want people to keep going to games and tuning in at home. They were willing to fire players and try and stop them from kneeling and now all of a sudden they say they were wrong?
I bet the Nike executives are saying thank goodness we went with Kap...
If he means those words he will offer Kaepernick an apology and a contract.

Ok that’s good and all but ummmm. When can we see Kap back on the field???
Why did I hear Barack Obama while listening to Beto O'Rourke? Their speech mannerisms are very similar.
0:35 “ We the National Football League believe black lives matter.” The only thing that matters to him and his league is money. If he truly cares, why now? Very convenient that he apologizes now, even though it’s been 3 years since Kapernick lost his job
We will accept the apology the second we see Kap back on the field
