If you ever wanna read up on sad evidence of it, look up the history of ANY safety measure we're accustomed to today, there's generally angry pushback (like the seatbelt, car airbags). Fun fact about Coach Pop: he grew up in Indiana and when he was a kid he was on a predominately black basketball team. There’s a pic online I forgot where. He has always been on the black and brown side and never skipped a beat.

Pop' team, the San Antonio Spurs has been a team that's been known to have many international players from all over the world, from Argentina and Brazil to as far as Turkey, Australia, and China. Black, white, asian whatever. Pops cares about people, and has experience with all sorts of people.
The Coach is speaking the truth. He is an admirable man. A champion of equality.
I agree. He was very honest about what he saw with the George Floyd incident and Coach’s honesty and intelligence is why his players including those he face against like LeBron and James Harden love him and have so much respect for him. He is willing to put his reputation on the line to help the black community and I agree that the blacks in this country have had the heaviest burden to bear and enough is enough. We as people need to change the way we communicate with each other and give each other the respect that we deserve regardless of race, religion, and ethnicity. This isn’t about eradicating stuff like a kid’s television show because it’s “offensive” to a certain group of people. It’s more about eradicating systemic racism from this country. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have much respect for you coach Pop. You're okay in my book, keep doing be what you do.
I finally watched the longer duration video. The news had mostly shown the loop of brief excerpts. To watch the entire footage, and to see the calm demeanor of the police officer was deeply troubling. The police officer seemed to repeatedly reposition his weight to get it more directly over George Floyd's neck, and pressing repeatedly into his neck. The cop seemed in a daze. He did not relent. When a woman stepped forward, he was quick to pull a tazer and instruct he to back away. The police offer intended to kill the man. It was not an accident or misjudgment of time It was his goal.
of course we are finding out that there was bad blood between the cop and Floyd.. they had worked together at a bar as bouncers i believe..

i think someone missed my point.. i was in no way condoning the killing, just the opposite. Because it has been reported they knew each other, and apparently, by reports, there was some friction, the cop might have felt a little more animosity towards Floyd. That was my point.
to Don P, i have read it several times that they absolutely knew each other and that some of the friction between them stemmed from the police officer’s over aggressiveness towards the patrons was part of it.
It took me a while to watch the whole video too. 8:46 is a long time to be on someone's neck. You gotta be a pretty heartless person to do that and not care.

I don't know what it is about this man and this video but my heart literally just broke. I have a 9 year old son, the pain of having to tell him to fear not only the police but others is a tough pill to swallow.

Did you listen to the whole message? He didn’t say that at all. I’m reading the book White Fragility and it talks about white guilt and how to process our own biases. I highly recommend it.

it's more than just being outwardly mean or judgmental of other races. There's implicit racial bias in our criminal justice system, healthcare, education, employment opportunities, etc. Once I started really looking into it, I cried. I was very blind to what black (and other minority groups) Americans actually have to deal with. Avoiding certain colors on clothing, keeping your hands visible in stores, don't stare at white women, etc. It's scary.

I will never understand why some of you attack this man for speaking truth. It's almost like just because you're online you think it's OK to criticize somebody for trying to speak to truth. One commentor said this man does not speak for me but in the beginning of his comment he was trying to act like he was a good person. This fake way of pretending to care is astonishing. Popovich said nothing that could be construed to be evil, wrong, malicious but for some strange reason some of you find a way to turn the good words he has said into a negative comment. People, we have got to start doing better than us, turn away from the negativity, stop trying to be right. If someone doesn't say some thing that is quite the way you would say it but you can see it's coming from a place within someone's heart, let them have their moment.
