- Father Benedict Hughes, CMRI, provides a brief history of Mohammed's revolt from the Church, as well as the "Iconoclasts", whose rejection of the use of images in prayer were a pre-cursor to current-day Protestants.
Thank you for this. It is very good to be continually learning and revisiting facts concerning the faith. God bless.
Thanks for this, Father, and thanks for posting, CFP.
These are some of my favorite videos CFP produces! So much to learn about the true history of the Catholic Faith.
Would love a small series of Catechism for children about to receive their First Holy Communion. ❤❤❤

Before I watch - I’ve never understood how a random guy in the desert caused such a massive heresy and apostasy to flourish, and it’s been too long since I read I think it was Hillaire Belloc on the subject.
"He rightly returns to himself, because he departed from himself. For he who returns to God restores himself to himself, and he who departs from Christ rejects himself from himself."
~St. Ambrose, Catena Aurea, Luke 15:17
"I will restore you to yourself, when I shall have restored you unto Me."
~St. Augustine, Sermon 73 on the New Testament
"What a joy for those who, after they have suffered for the love of God, know themselves in possession of an ineffably reward, which is no other than God Himself."
~St. Augustine
"Blessed be God, for so bountifully providing for us that He even bestows on us His very Self."
~St. John of Avila, Finding Confidence in Times of Trial.

Jesus speaking of the Holy Spirit:
"And when He comes, He will convict the world in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment: in regard to sin, because they do not believe in Me;"
~John 16:8-9
"He explains what He has said of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. Of sin indeed, He says, because they have believed not in me. For this sin, as if it were the only one, He has put before the others; because with the continuance of this one, all others are retained, and in the removal of this, the others are remitted."
~St. Augustine, Tractate 95 (John 16:8-11)
"This is the work in which we may be doing the works of Christ, for even our very believing in Christ is the work of Christ. It is this He works in us, certainly not without us.”
~St. Augustine, Homilies on John, Tractate 71 (John 14:10-14)
