      yes it was, if he wouldn't brake he would just go straight into the back of that car..

    • @ronja5315
      @ronja5315 6 років тому +15

      Electric Midnight no, ugh, you've clearly never droven a truck before. It's because the car didn't slow down at the yellow light, he waited to the last second till slowing down. He didn't even bother to think about the heavy truck coming right after him. He stopped so quickly, that if it wouldnt have been for the truck's great brakes, the truck would've gone straight into the back of the car.

      Ronja The driver of the truck looked the other way so he didn't see that the car stopped. He should have looked forward to avoid breaking so hard, but the car did stop a bit fast

  • @grilledcookie6259

    When you're a new driver you get those hard braking moments, atleast I did. But with experience they go away. The stress in the job also goes away completely after a while.

      those little traffic light controlled pedestrian crossings can get you. its in such a stupid spot too, bad city planning but he also should have been scanning ahead. I would've had the same reaction as him however haha

    • @strangerdanga5844

      I believe he was cussing at the car behind him in the roundabout.

  • @michaelmcist
    @michaelmcist 6 років тому +23

    When you are coming out of a roundabout like you were, you have to keep looking in the mirrors at your trailer, that is where a good amount of accidents involving lorrys with trailers happen, especially cyclists, putting a pedestrian crossing that close to a roundabout is okay for cars, but it is sometimes a nightmare for artic drivers, you have to make sure your trailer does not hit anything or anyone at roundabouts, so in my opinion you did everything right.

    I am a truck driver in Oslo. I drive the same roads you filmed. You missed the red light and got panic brake. You sort out the situation. If you continued driving for a few more weeks, then you would have been a significantly better driver. You make a very stressed impression while driving. The situation you were in I would say was pretty harmless.

    • @martinsworld8678
      @martinsworld8678  5 років тому +1

      got the license 5 days before making the video so yeah sure, was a little stressed. I did miss the light due to retard car drivers trying to drive on my inside, so I was checking mirrors not the road ahead. This video was the first filmed, but the last one posted.

  • @low2k
    @low2k 6 років тому +3

    From experience I know that it takes the calm of a mountain to drive 60+ tons through a city. Good work on relieving the tension through talking and respect for handling the situation. All the best to you man.

    • @low2k

      Nomadic Society ... he aint, and then again in my opinion a lot of full time truckers dont belong behind the wheel but the demand is high.
      What I like about this video is that he stands by bis mistakes and admids that he is very unexperienced. Takes balls and truck driving is 75% learning by doing / mistakes.
      As for you, stay save at all times man.

    You have to go with your gut, I did notice in a lot of your videos you were worrying a lot and seemed quite anxious while driving. This won’t work, although I have to say to quit after 2 days is surprising, most people take a while to settle in to the job. The other thing is you can’t drive these things like cars and I do feel your distance and speed needed work. Truck school just gets you into the truck, it’s the years after that which give you the skills and experience to be a truck driver.

    If you need more than one lane in a roundabout, put yourself in the middle of the road, blocking both lanes, before the roundabout. Then you don't need to worry about people trying to squeeze past you. You are the truck driver, you know how much space you need, normal drivers don't. You can't put that responsibility on them, what if you would have ramed the car in the other lane of the roundabout? (That would have been your fault)
    I always do this myself when driving a truck, I show other drivers early and very clearly that I need those lanes. They understand and I can pay more focus on what's happening up a head.
    Nice video =)

    that part with that they dont know you need more room, i totally agree. Driving lessons almost let me in the hospital on the highway, a van just crossed from left lane over 2 solid lines like 10 meters in front of me to the exit of the highway. He was like 80 degree turned from the lanes to get that. Too dangerous to do :(

      I took in a person / friend who had never been in a truck before. He thought you saw everything in the truck, you sit so high up after all! He was so humbled by the time he understood the blindspots etc. that he would change his driving attitude towards truckers.

    Hey bro I'm not trying to be disrespectful. But if I'm understanding your fresh out of truck driving school you should not be making videos you should be concentrating on the road because it is going to take you many years and different scenarios and driving on the road that you would learn what to expect and what to look for. Making videos while you are novice is pretty crazy all the best. Watch your butt Trading don't get caught in a short squeeze!

    • @martinsworld8678
      @martinsworld8678  6 років тому +2

      The whole point of the videos on trucking was to show the entire progress from being completely new, and see the progression. While I made this video for the audience of the world, I made the videos just as much for my own study and enjoyment, but the talking part of the videos is to make it at least a little interesting, I wouldn't talk if I only had these videos in my private collection, I made MANY MANY videos you, the viewers will never see. This video was also the second video I recorded, basically day 2 out of the 60 days I worked for that company. The latest video where I had worked the longest was the video where I go to Moss. Which was 8th of August 2017, this video here, was in June 2017.
      The trading and mining goes really well, looks to be a good year for me, cryptocurrency-wise.

      Without the full story I'd agree with you. But I only worked for that company as an extra driver, due to full time employees having summer vacation. But 2 weeks before I was supposed to stop working for them, I got a phone-call from the boss in the old job, asking me if I was interested in a full time research position as a nuclear physicist and chemist. Which I have a master's degree in, I had stopped working there before, because my job duties were really below someone with my education. So I told them before I left, that if a job opening in what I wanted got available I wanted to be contacted for that. And so it is I'm now working as a specialist in nuclear fusion technology. If I had not been called for that job, I would have gotten another job as a truckdriver. But now I'm never going back!
      Hopefully this answers everything fully.

      Takk skal du ha. Et tips jeg lærte raskere enn å slutte å stresse med kjøringa. Lær deg alt det med kjøre og hviletid utenatt før du setter deg i setet på din første jobb. Spesielt med tanke på alle kontroller, og stikkprøver fra Statens Vegvesen. De reagerer selv på de minste ting. Og det neste er det med lastsikring, der er de heller ikke nådig. Lær alle unntakene som gjør at du kan kjøre med 2 tonn ekstra over 50 tonn osv, slik at du kan fortelle disse betterwiserne på kontrollstasjonen at du har lastet og sikret etter lathund. Bruker ikke din skole lathund (en svensk bok / manual på hvordan sikre last best, som SVV folka kjenner veldig godt, de vil som regel bare dra litt i bånda i stedetfor å hoppe opp og gjøre grundige undersøkelser) be om at dere begynner å bruke den.
      Og ikke kjør for fort selv om du får dårlig tid en gang. 10 km/t på 1 mil er bare 49 sekunder raskere.
      Masse lykke til.

      I wouldn't know, but there are not many highways in Norway compared to America and its not very wide Norway, but its almost 2800 km (1770 mi) long from the two furthest away places, and roughly 400-550 km are highways rest is 2 lane roads with oncoming traffic. If you are interested in more detail, a map showing this: goo.gl/qPfHC7 Oslo isn't the worst city in Norway either. Pretty OK. I'm sure its about 10 times tougher to drive in Great Britain or Ireland. I know some French cities are also a nightmare.

    • @martinsworld8678

      That is both because the engine is able to go so low, being powerful, and because it was in eco mode. I used powermode on one tank once. had to refuel after two days instead of 3. There aren't many types of trucking you can afford to spend so much on fuel in Norway. Distribution trucks which also have lots of stopping are often ran on biofuels, making it very cheap. Don't know if the FH16 engine can take biofuel though,.

      any chance i could get hired? I recently graduated from university in chemistry and can't find a job anywhere in America.

      By FFI? Not impossible I guess, but its part of the military after all, so it might pose a restriction to anyone not a Norwegian citizen. You might be able to find a job here, but you still need to clear for NATO clearance levels, speak and write Norwegian.
      In fact we have an open job position as an electro-chemist but you need to speak Norwegian.

      Ingenting er umulig, men slik situasjonen er nå blir jeg nok værende i denne jobben. Har rett og slett ikke råd til å falle 400 000 i årslønn for å si det sånn. Å kjøre lastebil er dessverre en mager inntektskilde.

      Well hello! How about that! The fact you watched my video on trucking, found yourself being filmed and also living in Norway is pretty small, but pretty funny :)
      Being a creature of detail I have to point it out but.. now you can see almost everything leading up to me, catching up to you, and what happened after we "parted ways" so to speak!

      Actually.I am a kid.Yo!Dont give up.The more u drive the more you drive beautifuly,what is the horsepower of that sexy boy.I did see the blue bus that he is putting blinkers in the right but he just straight.Oh yeah.I know how to drive motor bikes real ones example a yamaha YZRF1!It is my favorite!That kind of truck is a beast when you go in an exepress way.You are right that roads in that country is small when countryside.Um I can drive trucks and cars to my friend it it true!Actually.Go in singapore trucks their is very fast in countryside they run in 50 kmh.Bro I like your vids i watch them a lot,when I saw you goin to the right where a car stopped just use your horn no hands or use flashing lights.It is a big truck as you can see.Be patient when traffic lights are red when you become patient the light will become green faster.You know you drive a little slow in country side.Ok.Here is a technic to become faster when you drive,In [N] u need to accelerate to full throttle then if green immediately [3] then four until so on.And cool drivin.Fuckin moron motor in the road!When you said "This guy is a moron,I hope he doesnt stall"Haha!Ok also look for other traffic lights!when its starts to become orange the other one toward your traffic light,Go already so that it will not i dont know.Just keep up and listen or follow what I said.N accelerate to full then immediately 3 Ok thanks for commenting me Love you

    What type of Transmission is on this Volvo? I can hear the engine rpm is cutoff quickly on shifting like an eight speed gearbox.

    • @martinsworld8678
      @martinsworld8678  6 років тому

      its a 12 speed Volvo iShift aka automated manual gearbox. Or if u prefer the detailed version. Its a manual asynchronous gearbox with an automated shifting mechanism.
      Its an intelligent system that detects and shift into the most economic gear, sometimes that means jumping over 2-3 gears.Or starting in 4th gear if that is the most economic.

    Hi Darius..............................................................don' worry about it. I'm sure that you can read even though...................................................................a lot of dots being applied here LOL. The reason for all these dots etc, etc is that.............so when people read, they have to stop and think a little before going on so no biggie everything ok. Sure I could write like normal people and not use those dots but I like it. Ok, have a good one now, life is good when your life is good and I hope you have a good life, I dooooooooooooooooo ! Would you recommend truck driving? I have a special thing for heavy machinery... If you know what I mean :P Also love to drive, so I always thought about trying it. Im single, no family no nothing, so Im pretty "free"

    • @martinsworld8678
      @martinsworld8678  6 років тому

      Yes, and No!
      Let me give you 5 pro's, then 5 cons.
      Pro's:
      1.It would suit you, being a truck driver often means 12-15 hour work days. If you are a long distance driver its 9-10 hours (if you live in the EU) so being free of family is or can be a big plus.
      2. Driving a truck is fun, knowing how the machine works, is interesting, can be challenging and often you have to come up with inventive ideas when totally alone, getting broken things to work long enough to get it fixed professionally or learn to find the best routes even if a GPS tells you otherwise. Being creative and planning ahead can be rewarding when you see that it works!
      3. You are free to often plan the days like you want, there is hardly anyone "breathing down your neck".
      4. You get to see new locations, seeing new places often, beautiful sunsets etc.
      5. The job can feel satisfying if one thinks about the job you do, you are a vital part of the chain of life, without goods going from A-B no-one could buy or own anything!
      The cons:
      1. The pay is generally low for the amounts of hours worked. But since you work often its often more than enough to live decently.
      2. Technology is against you, meaning many countries at least in the west, will push for driver-less trucks that can be on the road 24 hours a day every day. So sooner rather than later real human drivers will gradually be replaced by self-driving trucks.
      3. The job involves a considerable risk for injury or death, more than likely someone else's life. A traffic collision with a smaller vehicle is more than likely something you can physically walk away from, but mentally destroyed by. Also the laws will automatically go for you first, even if it wasn't your fault. So loss of your lisence for unknown number of days just to find out you were not guilty is basically the same as lost income.
      4. If you don't plan your trip well or know your delivery locations beforehand, and don't stick to it... well stress can make or break a trucker. While you don't have anyone telling you stuff, being late for a delivery is NOT good. Worst case means you will not get paid 100% or not at all.
      5. The competition from other trucking companies can make more conflict than a "brotherhood amongst truckers" mentality. Depending on your country; theft, crime and sabotage is a thing to always take into consideration in your work days.
      Good luck on your choices. Me personally, I wanted to drive because I love driving!

      Did I ever tell about the time I studied to become a police officer too? :D dropped out though xD I have many interests. I like trying many things. In my summer vacation in a few months I'm also taking a 1 week course to also be a licenced welder too. The crypto-currency part of it was me mining crypto since 2012 and using my profits to buy into ICOs, and coins I believed in, which panned out and made it possible to basically do it full time. Along with my mining rigs that I got my ROI on fairly quick. I got a nice income source from that to basically be a day trader in crypto.

    I wouldn't of quit your job because of that mainly because no one was hurt and it was kinda the cars fault for being an incompetent and selfish tool. But it is a very stressful job because of spacial awareness if you aren't prepared for it you cant really go far. But at least you now know it isnt your cup of tea. Good luck in the future.
