The 1996 model FH16 Volvo I drive in Tasmania, Australia for Searoad Logistics has 1.8 million original kilometres on the clock with no rebuild on Volvo's own engine, gearbox or axles. They're a bloody good truck 👍
The fact thatw Orica exclusively use Volvo FMX series trucks as their MMU (mobile manufacturing unit) is testament to their quality and durability... I began my working life in the early 2000s as a shotfirer (explosives tech) and drilling technician in outback Western Australia, spending most of my time working at Kalgoorlie's huge Superpit operation. And there's no tougher test of any machine than that place can offer.
I mean, companies would actually make deals with KCGM, the mine's management company, to have their most advanced prototype machines, and other assorted equipment, tested by our operators and engineers, in collaboration projects with their engineering teams.
I really enjoyed that part of the job, it was a real honour for a young bloke and man did we get to play with some seriously serious equipment. We had developed a reputation all over the world, for being among the very best in the industry. We were among the most efficient operations, producing consistent profit from very low grade ore, with the best safety standards and achieving that in one of the most dangerous sites (by design) on earth.
To be a part of Orica's joint venture with Volvo to test and produce their next generation of equipment, which would become the industry standard, really showed me just how much planning, research and development goes into making such complex machines operate reliably in those extreme conditions. The whole time I was there, I never saw one of the bomb trucks break. People talk down at the Volvo's, cause they love their American gear, but I saw the proof in the proverbial pudding and the Volvos got my respect.
This is what I like about Australia, you can get the best of both worlds, European and also American trucks.
+Ta. Tariku So if American truck are shit
how come they are being imported in other contries then
Its nice to see American & European trucks workin together
+Ta. Tariku Who give a shit
The reason most have a hood is because Flat face if the engine Blows up your Fucked by shrapnel & if u get hit in a Head on collision the Steerin wheel get into your stomach leavin u trapped in the driver seat also "Hooded trucks u have a higher chance of gettin out alive ...Also People have to understand that new technology isn,t always the way to go & today,s trucks are Fuckin SVU,s with their automatic bullshit that,s not a real truck if u want a Real truck buy one with a stick. There,s video of the older trucks still puttin work believe me a older truck will outlast these Fuckin ass SUV,s trucks today..... There,s nothin wrong with Americam/Europe truck workin together to get your shit to point A to point B
Soo sad that many Warrin shit ahout American truck is this & that
if i were to get a American truck imma Built it tough with a Fuckin Caterpiller V8
+Ta. Tariku To set your point straight there,s is no "Best" trucks so your comment is fuckin irrelevant
+Ta. Tariku ill prefer it with a 18 speeed stick & a Hood US Converted
Thats why ill Build a American truck Tough for anything US roads have to throw me & Volvo fh16.... Give me one so i can convert it into US & Minus the Computer gimmicks
+Ta. Tariku The reason why the trucks in America doesnt have high cabs because of 12-7 bridges & tunnels
I prefer the Midroof & short hoods
Like i said Both Murican & Europe trucks ill built it tough to handle the US conditions A stratosphere Sleeper will look nice on a US converted FH16
Oh and American shifts their trucks like shit & Fuck weight laws & Emissions shit Murican trucks were supposed to be built Tough for The conditions & 40+ tons loads
I've been driveing a volvo fh16 for the past 3 years since the day after I passed my test I spend 5 days a week away in it each week and I can honestly say I wont have any other truck apart from my volvo I've never had a days trouble with it its comfortable quiet fuel efficient good size bed the options list is massive loads of storage good size diesel tanks and she pulled hard all day every day
Thanks for sharing
I use to drive a FH13 480 Globetrotter in South Africa with a 4 axle superlink. Volvo is King.
Volvo should bring the FH series here to the US!
In the US they actually have the Volvo VNL. Google it.
They were testing the FH16 in Canada on a trial basis to see how it would perform. Very interesting.
@@gulholdingsgroupltd7084 which top trucks dominating the Canadian roads? Are they the same as the US? Petey, Kenny, Freightliner and such?
@@Xyb3rTeCh From what I seen is you got The Usual Kenny and Petey but you also got Volvo Mack and International
They have, but it's a conventional layout and it's called the VNL. Euro cabovers don't comply off the shelf with SAE regs.
Have to admit that was by far one of the better Trucking Videos I've watched in a long time...
i am a volvo fh16 550 driver. we have that truck in our pulp and paper industri in riau province indonesia. volvo fh 16 is a powerfull and comfortable truck. in our company we connected that truck with double trailer and we call that roadtrain.
Hi @ Squadron Andi,
We need some information with respect to pulp and paper industry logistics. Can you help us with your experience with regards to Volvo truck operations.
I'm a truck driver and I love volvo truck
Thanks for your support Laouar!

hi Chris
well thank you for the info
for an Euro 5 truck we use loaded 2liters of Adblue for 100km...on my truck I have a 65liters tank of AdBlue ,like this i can do a good 3000km without tanking
glad that you have reply to my question ,it is pleasure to have some news from you
have a good week my friend
Pat
Volvo really did a great job with this beautiful truck
I use to drive Volvo fh 420 in Iraq and Iran
it is best truck in summer and winter
Volvo is lion
Volvo is king
Wow its osm in terorist land too👍
6:45 same story as my dad now i have scania r730 hp 6x4 but i like to watch theese kind of videos
There is AdBlue on the main inter-city highways Patrick, but in the outback the service stations are a long way apart. Most road train trucks hold about 2,000 or more litres of fuel, but the newer trucks which use AdBlue generally have larger AdBlue tanks than than you have in Europe. Not all that many trucks use AdBlue here at the moment but that will change.
Volvo... what a masterpiece! Precision, innovation, class, comfort, performance, power.
Really, what more could you ask from a truck?
MackP Kenworth in USA, Canada, Mexico, Australia.
people said Kenworth is The world′s Best.
@@tutomukimuraisw11k everyone will have their own masterpiece!. But volvo is top of kenworth!
Unfortunately as an Aussie you won't get much chance to get behind one of these unless you're working for a Giant global company or are an owner driver. Most fleets are still from the 80s. No one in our economy has the money to upgrade a full fleet unless they're a 100 million dollar corporation.
I have been tested to drive this new FH between Gothenburg to Mariestat in Sweden with highest variant.
It was really nice, comfort and even safety as normally i drive on RHD road.
Bravo new FH ;-)
Philip says nice to me you both .happy trucking to you with the beautiful scenery. Take care phil.
I wish we had the Volvo fh series in the United States of America instead of the vnl series and vmn series.
3:31 "where it can be extremely cold and wet, and even ice and snow", makes me wonder what he considers "extreme cold and wet", 5 degrees with a bit of rain is extreme?
Greetings from me, Adeng, a Volvo 6x6 driver from Indonesia
Great show great truck ex truckie 38 yrs old kenworth last drive but medically retired now DRIVE a auto pajero lol # still change gears at the traffic lights
Looks nice I’d like to have a go of it.
That was a very professionally made and entertaining video. However, if you are going to be driving roadtrains in the outback you need a good quality bull bar because of the wildlife out there.
That truck was hooked up to a B-Triple with a legal length of 36.5 metres, but Simon's Transport in Brisbane are running 120 tonne 53.5 metre long full-size triples to Darwin with their Volvos.
One disadvantage with the latest Volvo is that you can't get the extended sleeper like on the earlier models?
Try Alfalfa - in a lunch box (no lid) Loves the windscreen position with a drop of your water during the day & a cool tea towel over the hottest reflection. 1st seed spread takes 3-5 days, do a rolling seed sprinkle daily from day 2 & with a scissor snip you've got fresh veggies/herbs on your breakie or your truckies mixed grill :) thanks 4 keeping our country moving
A cab-over-engine road train without a bullbar!? In Australia that's called suicide. You hit a camel or a big roo - and it'll take out all those "ground breaking innovations". Together with that shiny bumper and the HUGE radiator. And you will sit there for days on top of that cutting edge technology thinking, WHY didn't I just buy a 1995 Kenny.
@Jan Schlossar Australia has the largest natural camel population in the world
@Jan Schlossar They act a lot like deers. They just stop in the middle of the road in the outback. Same as kangaroos
@Jan Schlossar If you tried to feed them (I never have) you would probably get bitten. But most of the camel incidents happen at night when the road is pitch black and you can barely see 100 meters in front of you
@Jan Schlossar They are there for for the kangaroos than the camels. The Red Kangaroos have been known to take out engine when hit by trucks. They are big boys.
Note, it didn't do the dirt road's.
Hit a camel in the middle of nowhere and it's good night.
This is spot on for tarmac roads, but venture off them and you need an old yank. No computers or electronics to go wrong when the nearest town is 1000 k away.
It's amazing Truck ! Interesting report mate... Love Volvo 4ever... As I'm driving one now... Cheers
these Volvo trucks are very beatiful ,i like this fh16 in this video i like this silver mask between headlight ,it's just perfect designed ,especially front side of the truck!
Legit.. I will definitely live in this truck without a problem, it looks so comfortable :DD
My first Vovo was a F16 Globetrotter with 485hp and that was a great Truck already. What always bothered me on the FH Model was the limited space inside the Cabin, caused by the angled front part. There was a huge difference compared to the DAF XF or Scania R Model. On the new FH that seems to be changed and that makes the Cabin way more Driver friendly. In Germany there are laws how much Space a Dog Kennel has to be and that is way more than a Trucker has on Space in a European Truck.
I love Trucking and also love Trucks .....
When i went to australia and saw european trucks i would have thought they would be full with curtains hanging dice flags in the windows but i later learned that its only in europe where we do like that still was interesting to see both eu and usa truck
nice video and I'm not sure if the Volvo FH can have its synchronized manual transmission for a constant mesh 18-speed gearbox used in Australia Canada or the United States since constant mesh Truck Transmissions are used for unrestricted heavy Ridgid for Australia but CDL Class A for United States and class 1 for Canada
Now all this FH needs is a bull bar (or roo bar Down Under).
they have sold 700,00 units of the previous model! wow!
All Volvo's are now Auto's . Brian should be driving a geared truck in the NT outback. Then he will know what driving a truck in Australia is! He should try a quad (B double + two trailers. 162 Tonne).
graham4868 Thanks for the input
well played volvo... you are doing it right with advertisement and promotion.
is active steering capable with road trains? I am talking about reverse moving
I really like the Volvo, even though I can't buy it I already enjoy it at my work
Thanks Volvo for a great video and brilliant truck.
Had seen many Volvo truck on that road. They make great trucks and cars(especially the older cars by 20+ years). And that road, the Gore Highway between Toowomba and Millmerran, is a rough one once you pass Pittsworth from the bottom of the hill to Millmerran(flood affected road). The trucks, they seem lumber over it quite well, even the 3 trailer road trains(3 full trailers). Cars on the other hand, we almost bounce off the road.. lol.. shit it's rough and bouncy. At least it was back in 2017, it's likely still the same, it's was rough in 2009 too. That's Queensland! 🤣
volvo trucks - incredible
Been up that small hill to TOWOMBA....nice town if you like that kinda stuff......maybe go back soon as save the flight money,so watch out for me in BRIS!
or a ferry driver in Europe it is surely a dream to drive with such a road train keep it up i do like your chanel
6:35 "Road Train" sign flipped down =) con for Volvo
It's down because B Triples aren't Road Trains. A real Road Train has a dolly in the combination.
very cool!
AUSSIE is on the bucket list to drive trough with my truck once.... bit of a stretch however.
Make one about the VNL780 Volvo WILL YA, BUD?
Scott MacDonald we don’t have vnl in australia mate
i wrote 700,000, don't know why it came out as 700.00!
that's seven hundred thousand units! its gotta be a good truck!
I must say I like the metal spray suppression it really sets it apart from the ranault t range
Great video. I would not mind see these trucks in the road here in the USA.
What is the name of the song playing the background?
this truck is awesome!!!
I know this is a pretty old video, but when he said 90 tonne tops, what about the 300 tonne kenworth c510’s
ua-cam.com/video/5UUz1zTZFfU/v-deo.html beat that!
I want Roadtrains in ETS2!!!
CreativeComander There is a b-double mod in ets2 where you have 2 seperate trailers.
There ARE B-Doubles now :D @@gyariz553
He meant probably officially tho
THEY EXIST NOW IN 1.35
I really want AUTS (Australia truck simulator)
Great truck, great country, couple of nice fella's. I was already converted to these amazing trucks. I know a lot of people still think if its not Yanky it's no good, one drive of these things should be enough to convert them.
Where are the bullbars? It's pretty important that the truck and the trucker survives every animal crash without any damage!
Very beautiful truck
This is actually a bit shorter compared to a American double/triple trailer.
Downside of the new volvo in my opinion is that you have to charge the batteries every 2 weeks or so. aside from regular driving. apparently because of all the electronics working in the truck.
get a APU?
It's something that's written in the instructions manual. Shouldn't Volvo have thought of that when they build the truck? Apparently they knew about this when they build it but didn't solve it. Just wrote it in the manual. Charge extra every few weeks.
Didn't think Australia had emissions standards? I think the adblue is all about dollars not emissions in Australia
This movie is 10 years old. That's a lot...
Tut, you all the best jobs Brian! Nice work.
Volvo make great trucks, the new model looks a bit like the new dafs, I think the new angle of the windscreen makes it look like a daf, Volvo would be my pick out of the Euro stuff.
Very beautiful truck!!! Good job
Toys of the big boys. . . Volvo trucks. . .
nice video, cant wait for my new FM to be delivered in december. or made, im picking it up in gøteborg myself :)
...its so cold, you even might find snow or ice. Made me smile :) (no offense)
Why didn't they show how the bed pulls out to make it wider?
5:55
so there was a road train sign there all along..
yeh and also the moment you realise its not a grill with holes but more of a vinyl wrap.
very nice the new model! Good job
YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME..!! Great Vid of a truly great truck
Good Job
who's watching 2019 ?
Volvo FH16 is KING OF THE OUTBACK
Love this new Truck!!!!!
I could do well worse than driving one of those through the wilderness all day long!
LUCK GOOD.. !! THANKS FOR THE VIDEO..SALUDOS..
36 meters ? Ive seen steve grahame pull 53 meters
5:24 best part of video
We need ats. Australian truck simulator.
Nice video
Dear Volvo, what's the name of the song when they start putting the gear inside the FH's cab, @1:40 ? Thanks in advance! #ThumbsUp
Great video Brian, nice to see you on the road. Did you use your own crew or hire an
Aussie film crew? They always produce great film work over the ditch. Greetings from "R580NZ" in New Zealand :)
i love VolVo FH16 :))
International transtar .then sline ,best trucks ever built!.
that's a good looking truck!
super truck. only the bed is too narrow
Shouldn't the shape be streamlined and steep since half of feul must be lost fighting drift force?! 🤔
Have you notice (at 1:00) the peashooter exhaust? At 700HP you need twin turbo just to push the gases out. Twin 6" pipes would add another 30HP. The chrome on that pipe will burn in no time.
Yeah, I've seen them red and blue from heath.
Stainless or not.
Excelente vídeo, cuanta potencia..
Is Volvo going to offer cabover trucks like this one in the U.S.?
+jdaniel1274 Probably not, They are used in Australia and Europe because of lenght restrictions.
+jdaniel1274 It is a beauty, isn't it? I drove a 2002 Volvo tractor in the US and I am hooked. If I ever had to buy my own truck, she'll be a Volvo!
+Derpjjkkjkkster
interesting comment, because KW do sell them here, despite length issues.
Mammoth Car brought me here!
a Long day to get to toowoomba??? LOL its a frikin hour away from that BP.
wow, what a scale model!!!! May i know the brand.
5:55 is that stock on the truck or is it a custom feature?
Volvo trucks are the best
Because they are strong and fast and cabin looks good and bed is very nice
You should test this truck in Guyana
South America
What is the size of tyres and rims ? I am confused, in Europe, same size 22.5, height of front is lower ..In Aust, front look a little height ..
Aussie roads are much harsher than those in Europe. Should be a few inches bigger in size.
How much is the
Volvo
FH16 700hp?
I dont understand why they bring FH to Australia instead of VNL.
no offence guys but can we have that in english as well...? :O
There is a Volvo Lorry in the UK
Am dutch and i understand every thing what thy say. So its more you then guys in vid
One is English. You cant speak better “English” than that.
