+El-Guapo We probably should have touched on Metal Gear 5 and his lack of involvement, BUT he has said before that his work on Metal Gear was simply because of Hideo Kojima's love of The Replacement Killers score. Hideo said, "I want my games to sound like that" and Harry pretty much just scored his cutscenes in that style, nothing too complicated. If you go back to that score you'll notice many similarities!
Film.Music.Media yes i'm aware of that i've seen the footage where he talks about it. He did such an amazing job on 2,3, and 4. 5 was so disappointing it just wasn't MGS harry only did two tracks and even they weren't metal gearish... hopefully next time you interview him you'll bring it up great video man
Nicolaj Jensen yes he did, that was heartbreaking not hearing the signature metal gear sound... i don't know just didn't feel like a metal gear solid soundtrack... even the harry songs were different
Absolutely. Sadly of course Hugh would be too old to play the role as they're close enough in age. I think Harry looks just like Hugh Grant played by Michael Sheen.
@@donaloflynn LOL. Remind me not to hire you as the casting director for that movie! 😆 HGW is too pure (and adorable 😍) to be played by Hugh Grant who usually plays unscrupulous womanizers.
This is a wonderful (!) interview. I've admired Mr. Gregson-Williams' work for a long time. He seems to be a rather down-to-earth person, and that is good to know. I have an idea that he WOULD be a very good teacher. Thank you, Kaya. Great work.
Thanks HGW to exist ! This is the only composer who touched me so much with these score many, many years (Kingdom Of Heaven, Spygame, Narnia ...). And more than anything because I'm a composer. Thank you for this interview!
Harry Gregson-Williams is the best classical music composer of all time! A composer of his caliber should be known by every single human on earth. Drama is my favorite genre, too. 💃🏼
I am in High school, and want to be a film scorer....what path should I go onto?, I searched online but everything seemed pretty confusing.....What would you suggest?
Lot of money to be had in this industry but a lot of headaches and total freaks too. I almost went down this road in my life but snapped back out of it thankfully.
Wherever there's greatness, there's going to be insanity as well. Few are willing to drive themselves to the point of insanity to become great.. I'm sure you made the right decision.
Hello Film Music Media, I am a 15 year old aspiring film composer. I would like to take a second to thank you so very much for these interviews. They really give us some insight into the craft of these fantastic composers! I always look forward to new stuff from you and I would love to chat sometime about your interest in film music. Here is my Soundcloud: www.soundcloud.com/ashton-gleckman my personal website is www.ashtongleckman.com
+Ashton Dean Gleckman I spent some time on your website. I enjoyed your work, and, no doubt, you will go far in this business. I wish you all the very best.
Is there a way to get in touch with him or something like that? I want to use one of his song's from "Chicken Run" in a video, but I can't do that and monetize it which is what I want to do.
I'd highly suggest hiring a composer versus the cost of licensing a piece of music from a studio feature. Plus you'd have to go through the publisher who would own those rights, not Harry himself. Hope that helps!
at school, I had to choose between Technical Drawing and Music. I wanted to do both, but I choose Music... Still not convinced I made the right decision!
+fire ghost scoring is writing original pieces of music to fit the section of film ....sound tracks are pieces of music already recorded that suit the film
yes but ...think films like , trainspotting or pulp fiction and reservoir dogs ...films where you already know the music . where as scoring is music created to build tension within a scene of a movie
Harry is one of the best composers of our time. I love his work on Man on fire)
No one ever asks him about his amazing work on video games like Metal Gear Solid.

He did a song in MGS5

@@irenashiloh8808 Hugh Grant being typecast doesn’t make him unsuitable for the role. I’m not even the one who suggested him, I merely agree.
@@donaloflynn It was a joke. :)
This guy is a really good composer; his score for COWBOYS AND ALIENS is the best thing about the movie.
Yes one of the best composer in america...very good composer and talent ...bravo Harry.
He's possibly the nicest chap working in the business. Great interview and interesting insights. Thank you.
Love love love every track you have ! Every time i watch a movie I tell myself , I bet this sountrack is by Harry gregson Williams!!

Thanks and subbed. Hoping for Jablonsky interview to come soon.
Really great format - thx for that! :-) But please try to reduce that "right" every few seconds and the interruptions...
One of the most inspiring/informative and KICK ARSE interviews ever! Thanks for this!!!
Nice interview, thanks!
Love this guy …
hans zimmer impression is on point
Simply Great, many thanks.
That is just great. Thank You :)
Is there a chance to hear in future some wisdom from Marco Beltrami?
Have you interviewed his brother Rupert Gregson-Williams?
Fantastic Interview.
Still a great interview, thank you!
A good watch - thanks!
Thank you for this interview. All of these! This whole channel is so cool!

It seems like you found your path. I saw your Bloodbound game trailer. Did you score it? Or are you a game programmer now?

That means you're almost 18 yrs old now, and your carreer has started already, you obviously deserve it.
Best of luck!
oh hey its ashton
Is he related to the late great actor John Gregson? He looks very similar.
Andrew Adamson was mentioned once and Narnia wasn’t talked about at all… whyyyyyyyy
If you close your eyes, you're hearing Bilbo Baggins.
I thought the exact same things. Just combine the Martin Freeman version with the Ian Holm version
I'm curious when was this filmed? 2015?
+Sergiu Muresan Nope! February 2016, about a week before the post date.
Someone get this man a more comfy chair for interview situations 🤣

Harry gregson Williams is not a great composer. For me His music between normal to good. I just like a little part of his works
MGS, Narnia, Zookeerpers wife, live by night and others are masterpieces
