The scary thing about the therapist is there are people like him. People often want to blame everyone and everything EXCEPT the killer, and if they had their way, would put people in dangerous situations like this all the time just to try and prove themselves right. The therapist chose the most insane take possible before even having his first "session" with the Joker, beause he wanted to be controversial, and needed something unorthodox to get famous quick: Everyone's take on the Joker being a psychopathic sadist, while true, would never get him on the covers of magazines, so he decided on the outcome he wanted, and then started working on fabricating and twisting evidence to fit his narrative. Same as what you said: there's unfortunately many outlets who start with a premise, and then cherry-pick data to back it up, like how videogames will corrupt children, or a horro movie will create psychos.
The therapist was projecting. He(the therapist) was the narcissist. Nothing he could say was wrong in his mind, and he had to inject himself into everything, be in the center stage with the joker, and even speak for the batman and the joker. The therapist wanted to control everything and it blinded him to the reality that he sat next to a killer who wanted nothing more than to provoke and torment the batman, while everyone else was a toy to break for his game.
I always liked to think he killed him that brutally because he touched him a second time, he already brushed his hand off once (he was already going to kill everyone with the gas the guy just annoyed him)

The animated ones are A TON cheaper to produce, they can afford to cater to only the hardcore audience, to go for higher ratings, etc. When you're spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a movie, you need a wider viewer base to get a return on your investment, thus lower ratings and more casual accessibility which means it has to be less violent.
That little speech of the doctor's summation of Batman probably pissed joker off in ways that a face couldn't express with three times the amount of facial muscles. It's not surprising that the joker killed him first, straight after that two bit analysis. I can almost see Joker thinking "How DARE you. I'm not responsible? The scary thing about the therapist is there are people like him. People often want to blame everyone and everything EXCEPT the killer, and if they had their way, would put people in dangerous situations like this all the time just to try and prove themselves right. Think about it, remember that guy who shot up a theater while dressed as Joker? And how when the Joker movie came out everyone claimed it would inspire more shooters? Or the "Slenderman stabbing" where news outlets started outright acting as if the Slenderman fandom was corrupting the kiddies and turning them into murderers, ignoring the fact no other members of the fandom ever attempted murder? Or the Columbine shootings being blamed on video games and bullying, despite the majority of bullying victims and video game players not going out and murdering people? Heck, the story does a good job covering how the media likes to blame all violent actions on whatever the new controversial thing is, claiming several crimes were "Batman Inspired" and giving guys like this quack therapist the opportunity to spread his bullcrap opinions and pass them off as fact.

The therapist chose the most insane take possible before even having his first "session" with the Joker, beause he wanted to be controversial, and needed something unorthodox to get famous quick: Everyone's take on the Joker being a psychopathic sadist, while true, would never get him on the covers of magazines, so he decided on the outcome he wanted, and then started working on fabricating and twisting evidence to fit his narrative. Same as what you said: there's unfortunately many outlets who start with a premise, and then cherry-pick data to back it up, like how videogames will corrupt children, or a horro movie will create psychos.

The therapist was projecting. He(the therapist) was the narcissist. Nothing he could say was wrong in his mind, and he had to inject himself into everything, be in the center stage with the joker, and even speak for the batman and the joker. The therapist wanted to control everything and it blinded him to the reality that he sat next to a killer who wanted nothing more than to provoke and torment the batman, while everyone else was a toy to break for his game.

Notice how Joker doesn't kill the doctor until after the guy starts badmouthing Batman. It goes along with the idea that Joker loves Batman in this, like he's an overly attached girlfriend who goes nuts if someone suggests her boyfriend isn't perfect.

In Joker it made more sense to me. Murray thought Fleck was just a weird 'Joker' from a comedy club. He invited Fleck because the video from Pogo's was well received and Murray wanted to milk it further. There was no perceived danger from Fleck.

The animated ones are A TON cheaper to produce, they can afford to cater to only the hardcore audience, to go for higher ratings, etc. When you're spending hundreds of millions of dollars on a movie, you need a wider viewer base to get a return on your investment, thus lower ratings and more casual accessibility which means it has to be less violent.
Full violence is not always nice. You can make a good movie or animation without it.
