  • I am so sorry I left everyone hanging for so long. This is the last episode in our 2+ year journey on Tarka, and it has been long overdue for some time now. I hope to follow-up soon with an short epilogue of what has transpired since Tarka was sold. I am forever grateful for everyone's patience, understanding, and I hope it was worth the wait.
    ==
Proceeds from this video will be donated to the Coral Reef Alliance. Donations can also be made directly by visiting their website:
    www.coral.org
Tarka is a 1973 Albin Vega 27 (8.2m) that I bought sight-unseen and without sailing experience on the island of St. Martin in April of 2017. I was thrust head-first into ocean sailing as I got Tarka safely south from what would become the most devastating hurricane seasons on record. We are now working our way west towards the Pacific.
Additional support for Tarka’s sail for CORAL (The Coral Reef Alliance) comes from contributions by:
Soylent - Healthy provisioning for the long offshore passages
Sta Lok - Swage-less terminals for portions of Tarka’s rigging, making it an easy DIY job and allowing for easy inspection
Victron Energy - Providing monitoring solutions for Tarka's batteries, to ensure we always have enough juice to do what we need to.

Adventures of Tarka was the first channel of any kind I subscribed to. Not Delos, not La Vaga. It was Tarka. I have patiently looked each week for a new video for over a year now and was so unexplainably excited to see a new video. I literally did not believe it at first. I mean, I sat in silence for a moment, and got myself prepared to settle in, before pushing play. I shouted to my kids and they replied "is that the "hot like an oven guy" ?! You inspired me to buy my first boat and begin dreaming of future adventures. Wonderful story telling and a beautiful ending to this adventure. Marvelous job sir. All these people below just like me so happy to see another video. You done good kid. You done good.

LOL. "hot like an oven guy" -- man, I was really into the vibe of the song at the time, but it's so strange that I used "Sexual Healing" as my intro music.
Thank you for following along. I followed Delos on their early days before they blew up, and this is how I felt too whenever they would upload a new episode. It inspired me to buy my boat, and it seems like I've paid the favor forward :)

@@TheAdventuresofTarka I started sailing at 18 and it took up quite a bit of my life afterward, and my heart forever. Sometimes it is hard to not chuck it all and go back, but, as you well know, life continues in ways that you just don't expect.
My older brother took his own life a couple years ago. He had some serious medical issues that were proving illusive to any kind of "treatment" (Lidocaine infusions we're the last attempt....). The doctors had him on Oxycodone and ran out with no more available for another 11 days, so it was the problem AND serious withdrawal. My conclusion has been that healthy people do not hurt themselves - or others they love and who love them..... The diseases, whether mental, emotional, or physical often have an incredible role that we, no matter what, can never see, or help with. Just not in our power. No different than cancer or some other terminal illness. It is what it is - but we don't have to like it.
My heart goes out to you, and, even though I really don't know you, I can, and do understand some of what you've had to deal with. It is good to hear you're dealing with it and in healthy ways.
Sailing will most likely always be an INCREDIBLY intimate part of your life..... It can be a lonely part, too, as unless it is with someone else who has BEEN THERE, others just cannot grasp it.....
Jimmy Buffett once put it the best I've probably ever heard, and his words often still evoke the emotions I FELT as you left Tarka - just as I left MiTyme so many years ago:
      "Alone on a midnight passage
I can count the falling stars
While the Southern Cross and the satellites
They remind me of where we are:
      Spinning around in circles
      Living it day to day,
      And still twenty-four hours
      Maybe sixty good years
It's really not that long a stay...."
And there's a Cowboy in the Jungle....
Take care, my kindred fellow human. Never hesitate to reach out!

@@captainmike3557 I'm very well aware of his UA-cam relationship and BECAUSE of his living his dream, as so many would like to do, I don't see it as a waste of my time to follow along - even provide a "thumbs up" if it helps.... I find it a much better use of time than watching MOST of what TV provides and cheaper than cable. I've been out there sailing the dream. I know what he's dealing with and experiencing on many levels and applaud his going for it! My time is over. Too old to do it again, although I still get a thrill at the awesomeness that few take the chance to experience.
It is common experiences that create "friendships". He and I, even without knowing one another, share more than many just from that.

It’s all connected. When we care and follow their adventures and get the urge or feeling when the next episode comes out he will feel the tug, when we start thinking about it he’s probably working on next episode. Happened so many times on his previous episodes.

It was a pleasure to be along for the ride via UA-cam. Thank you for sharing your journey on the channel, you got to experience what too many of us will only get to watch others do. Hoping that when you get the next boat you bring us along again. Tarka was up there with Soulianis and Atticus as my favorite channels to follow. May you have fair winds and following seas as you enjoy the next chapter of life!

So sad to see you leave the boat, i enjoyed your videos so much in lockdown, only wish i could have been with you on your adventures.
Life moves on,and with it a new adventure on doubt.
Scuba diving will always be in my heart, just as sailing will be for you.
Someday your return in body or spirit, but never forget its been a once in your life experience never to be repeated.
Take care...and let the wind keep your sails full.

Wow I wasn’t expecting this after so long . I ended up buying a Vega myself and this channel was huge on my decision . It was a great ride you brought us all along for Brain! I’m so sorry got your loss of your father and the pain you have been through. I’m sure we’re all hoping Nushka is doing good too x
You had a lovely way of presenting your story one that has not been replaced. I hope one day we’re see you on the sea again.
    Good luck Brain

Man. I can't imagine how hard it was to put together this last video. The emotions must have been challenging to revisit. I think part of me never wanted this video, as glad as I am to see the conclusion of your story with Tarka. Without it, I could just imagine that you were still out West somewhere off a small atoll. Thank you for sharing your story with us. I've enjoyed the journey. I hope life has brought you more great adventures and joy.
