Several channels I had been subscribed to started putting hot girls in their videos because their content is stale and can't get more subs. Don't get me wrong, I like T&A, but not when they are 'pretending' to do work and dressed like they are going to the mall - not to build a cabin, etc.

We use an 8' circular blade on a long arm it cuts everything and is really smooth after wards

The bolts are sized to shear when overloaded to stop damage to the motor and machine

I remember that i once saw a documentation about a crew that was cutting the trails for the long overland power lines so that the trees dont grow too close to the powerlines.
They used a special saw that hang from a helicopter and use 8-10 circular saw blades to cut everything. It was an incredible way to cut all those trees and such.
I actually wonder how good such a "saw blade attachment" whould work on a Skidd Steer.

Better leave Cody at home or in the truck since a Sickle Bar is one of the most dangerous attachments to use and his bounding around can lead to tragedy. His emerging from the brush and especially he jumped over it can be deadly and it doesn't have to be on to hurt him especially in the horizontal mode.

I think you would like getting one of those excavator forrestry mulchers. It looks like a 55 gallon barrel sideways. It seems like the best version of the sickle bar would be on a 3-point hitch on the back of a tractor.
That way the cuttings would fall in a way that they wouldn't stack up on the deck of the attachment.
It seems like a good idea would be to place a second bar in front of the deck so you could cut horizontally in front and vertically on the side with one designed like this one.

    • @nathanscott7910

I agree. Those limbs falling onto the attachment would get old.

    • @Jehty_
      @Jehty_ 2 роки тому +4

Problem with that is judging by the video he has to constantly look at the sickle bar. If it is behind you that wouldn't work so well.
Edit: Would it even work on the back of a tractor? It doesn't stick out to much. So depending on how wide the tractor is, the tractor might push the branches away from the cutter.
And if it works, wouldn't the branches still fall on the implement?

@@Jehty_ I grew up working on the farm and we always used a sideboy mower. For those who don't know what that is, it is a bush hog that sticks out on an arm and pivots. We used it to mow limbs hanging over the edge of fields at least once a year and mowing the ditches as needed. I've seen some that go on the front of tractors as well. Imo that's the way to go if you have a tractor.

Long story short; I’ve been planning and designing machines for 7yrs (at the time I moved back east coast from PacNorWes) sitting in from of engineering software for far too long. And wanted a change of scenery, so decided on a mini x and get back into concrete and construction. Andrew here, I wouldn’t say a guiding light so to speak but, inspiration for me for sure. Mini x led to skid steer led to rebuilding trailers led to dump truck and it’s been a fun journey:-) for me and watching you grow. Just the sheer dedication and patience. But we never once used them to cut vertically like that lol On a tractor like I use the sickle bar you cant put it in the vertical position like that because the PTO won't allow it to be used that way. These sickle bars are only supposed to be used for cutting grass. Not trees. lol

Constant maintenance and repair on those things. I was glad to see them gone. Productivity went way up.

The clue is in the name - its a mower and is meant for mowing grass. You can see at the end of the cutter bar where the swath board is meant to go that pulls the grass away from the cut edge. They are also not meant to be run vertically. It also needs to be lubed - the constant chattering noise is metal on metal and it wont last long like that. Also it would be worth putting a stay bar between the top of the cutter and the body whilst transporting . The constant flexing will just stress and crack the cutter bar. You can get knife segments with a plain edge or a serrated edge but i wouldnt want to cut anything wider than about a fingers diameter. Tractor and flail is what should be used on side vegetation and the brash will fall away behind the machine as you travel.
