- Building a trailer with blades on it for trimming branches on road sides, then towing it with a UTV down trails.
Second video about this, making it into a snow roller: • Making a trail trimmin...

This man could literally build a box for 37 mins and I'll enjoy every minute of it! Love these videos and the creativity behind his thinking!
So true 👍 the guy is the GOAT
Some improvements you've probably already thought of:
Weigh the trailer down some.
Remove a leaf from either side.
Add more cutting blades to the cross beam to cut the canopy away.
Give yourself a pat on the back for a great idea and execution.
Agreed. I think it would be nice to have it slightly offset to one side as well.
I also think it would have been better to have the cutting frame all the way to the back so when it cuts the limbs, they hopefully would fall on the ground instead of piling up on the trailer.
I think he could limit the tilting of the trail by modifying the hitch to limit the travel.
Yeah, top edge cutter is a must.
@@jimthesoundman8641 all the way to the back would make it worse. All the way forward there is nothing for it to fall on and get stuck.
I think you need to name this thing a "TRAIL SHARK." It is totally awesome! Proof of concept - accomplished - and then some.
It is so refreshing to see a build video that is not fast forwarded the entire time with music/commentary. It's nice hearing the grinding and what not.
Hey Andrew, what about setting a couple suitcase weights over the wheels on top of the frame to give it a lower center of gravity? That should also help with getting the leaf springs to absorb some of the bumps, instead of them causing the whole rig to hop with every little rock or hole. With all that weight of the arms outside the width of the wheels, she teetered a little, but was still a super design. "Trail Blazer 2.0" Nice work!
Also good idea would be a vibration system for the knifes so you do not have to stop every mile or so... Totally agree also with southpawEd
Or fill your tires full of water for ballast
I would think some shocks would help as well. That would keep it from jumping all over the place.
@@lugoismad maybe to remove wheels 😄
Also, adding a cutting bar to the top. I noticed there were over hanging limbs that were low hanging that did not fall in the cutting range. But I that about some type of weight to help stabilize it as well.
Young man, you want to be a bit more safety minded about the ultraviolet rays produced by arc welding. I speak from experience that it does cause skin cancer, the same as too much exposure from direct sunlight. I was a welder for more than 58 yrs and have had my arms and face burned many times from being flash burned from the arc while I had a helper that was doing the tacking for me and now my face and arms are developing skin cancer faster than I can have it removed, there is a place on my nose that is eating a hole all the way through it about the size of a dime and doctors can't control it also several places on my forehead and sides of my neck. There are other places on my arms as well. Ultraviolet rays are to be avoided as much as possible. I don't want to sound like a Safety Sally, but I hope to make you aware of this fact so that you or others can avoid the outcome later in life.
You made me aware :) so thank you wise man
Sound advise. I have been welding for years also and make sure I have a thick layer of Badger broad spectrum SPF 30 Especially on the front of my neck.
Yep - sounds like good advice.
Thanks for saying this, I am so sorry you are dealing with that. I really heard you, and appreciate you looking out for others too.
Prayers, thanks for spreading the news.
No goofy intro music or lame animated logo graphic, just straight to business. Love it!!
Run some across the top or maybe just the corners on top. Noticed a lot of branch's slipping over. Awesome idea. You're the brains that come up with the brawn.
Congratulations Andrew on an amazing milestone of one million subscribers, truly deserved 👏

Your CAD (cardboard aided design) and manual plasma table work is impressive.
also on 17:52, you can actually see the MTC (manual tools changer) in action
CAD=cardboard aided design 😁😁

What's the point in using the acronym If you're just gonna spell it out anyway
My dad and I would watch Stacy David! Usually on Saturdays or Sundays mid morning. I remember it was always on on the weekends. He had cool builds.

Your just one amazing person Andrew! Your Community is blessed to have you and I hope they know it. Really we need more people like you to work for the National/Local Government. Instead of lining their pockets and or wasting money,I believe you'd save us money and make everything run better. Thanks!
Congratulations on a million subscribers Andrew. I don't know when it happened, but it couldn't happen to a more deserving, hard working, and entertaining youtuber.
Congrats on 1 million subscribers Andrew! You deserve it, your content is engaging and very well produced.
I was just checking up on new videos thinking how I wish a Camarata Productions video would come out and here it is! Thanks Andrew
Suggested additions: 1) Cable draped and tucked down the rear side of each blade tower so you can do a mass-extract of trapped materials. 2) some added mass in the trailer to reduce heaving.
Nice and simple. I was thinking a hydraulic bar to push the branches out would be good
Blades on the top I reckon too
Just some good ole hick enginenerding !!
That million subscribers looks good! I always knew this would happen to you Andrew. Now we need to set our sights on 2 million!
10 million!
I love how overbuilt this thing was and you STILL managed to break part of it :)
so if it doesnt break on him how can it get his stamp of approval :P its gotta break or its too faulty :P

As a wise man once said - Overkill is underrated
That cutter needs to make a pass through this comment string 😁
Hey Andrew, How about putting a row of cutters across the top bar? I've seen the top bar hit a lot of branches in your video, some broke off, and some bounce over( the bar). Cool way of cutting trails! Faster too!
I was just about to suggest that.
I think that might be too much weight up high. Unless more ballast put down low.
@@carlzirk I think your right about the weight. Would make it much more stable.
I would like something that hits low hanging tree branches. I do not want to scratch the tractors paint. Some places you want it difficult to get into.
I agree. It works great now, but could make it even better!
I thought I had seen it all, but only AC can imagine some ghoulish looking bladed horror contraption that actually works surprisingly well to trim trails. Congrats on your success
everytime this man uploads, everything in my life has to pause, i need to watch the video
I have yard work to do- am I doing it? Nope! Sitting here finishing my coffee, watching Andrew at normal speed
Andrew, Thank you for your awesome commitment to the Snowmobiling community! People like you make it so great without recognition. I appreciate YOU!
Thanks. Looking forward to riding a ton this year.
@@AndrewCamarata It is to create a tunnel, so the top bar should more like A? Stability in higher speed is another problem. Maybe create central of gravity a bit forward and let the tail has a bit more material for momentum stability? Another idea is tri-wheeled single on the back as platform, should be more stable but not sure about weight.
Measure with a micrometer, mark with a crayon, and cut with an axe. Much respect on your building skills. I use this cardboard technique, stollen from Andrew, in my woodworking.
..cut with an axe, pound to fit and paint to match!
When I was a kid, my dad and his friend made something like this (but not nearly as finished looking as yours) for clearing trails on the friends property. Most of yours and their design was very similar but with a couple major differences. The cutting teeth of theirs they found out was to make longer (projecting more forward) cutting blades ( like 2’) and then have those blade teeth angle downward so cut foliage could fall easier to clear the blades. Also, LESS suspension was more advantageous because the bouncing/shaking of the trailer aided to the clearing of the cutting blades. When the trailer wasn’t called to doing its purpose, then the ATV like tires pressure was lowered to soften traveling… but rock hard when cutting. Wish I had pictures of it.
I could imagine that with some skis attached and being pulled by the tracked side by side. I bet the footage of branches and snow flying everywhere would be epic.
congrats on the one million Andrew. well deserved I remember when you hit 5k and how cool that was. seems like time is just flying by.

Stacey David is the man. “Trucks” was a cool show.

Absolutely
Agreed it was great then. I found out a few weeks ago you can stream all those old episodes on UA-cam I think it was. The entire build in one long video.

Agreed. It bounces about too much.
and a wider wheelbase
That’s no fun tho!
You have been a huge inspiration to me, Andrew. I just picked up one of my biggest commercial contracts and I just wanna say thank you for encouraging me .

still waiting for Andy to make his car that he told us all about ages ago.

I like the Way you Building Anything. It's allways nice to see !!!
Stacey Davids was my hero when I was younger! My dad didn't care to teach me anything, so PowerblockTV taught me everything before UA-cam was around. Trucks and Extreme 4x4 with Ian and Jesse were my favorites.
Stacy Davids has a youtube channel its stacydavidsgears somethings similar to that . All his old stuff and new builds as well.
RIP Jessi.
That was great field testing
More like forest testing 😂
Very cool concept and great video documenting the build. I love how Andrew doesn't say a word until 6:25 when he talks about "Trucks"
I love how well it worked... and how quickly it got destroyed. That's quality content.
One Million subs and counting Andrew, well done. You earned it.
Builds his on castle, works ass off and fills it with toys and we all watch and cheer him on💪💪💪💪 Legend
Perhaps try rotating the blades on the sides a little outward or inward, to prevent branches from accumulating and getting stuck? Also it's worth considering adding a top bar with blades, because higher branches will get heavy with snow in the winter and swoop downwards?
This is a good point, sort of like the windows on offshore boats. If it slopes down you could just let gravity extract the branches.
Awesome idea! Works great! In addition to improving the suspension and blade gussets, you should add a set of blades across the top to trim the low hanging limbs.
I’d have to imagine this would get quite a few looks from folks. Pretty cool!
@9:15 Wow! Can't believe how much Cody has mellowed out.
He's like a younger Levi now!!
Is Levi ok?
@George Lutz Umm, Levi passed away back in June this year.
m.ua-cam.com/video/0cKQ7EdlVQM/v-deo.html
This is the type of video I want to see, Andrew building something cool
Very creative. You don't need to hear my suggestions - but I will. The rig falls on it's side when the high center of gravity moves outside the wheel base. Getting rid of the leaf springs and pouring a slug of concrete on the axle might help.
The time you spend with your dogs encourages their personality development. Fascinating to watch.
I can't believe how well that worked! Can't wait to see version 2. It would be sick with moving sickle sections!
Absolutlly amazing Andrew. You have no fear of tackling anything. Good for you.

damn, another 40min just went by... i love how you engineer stuff too, you take your idea and then proceed to beat the crap out of it until something breaks and then make that part stronger until you have a working piece of equipment! its great seeing some real engineering
This man loves his trails.
He was the "The boy with his toys" that grew up and now he is "The Man and his machines ".
The only difference between men and boys, is the price of their toys
@@glenjamindle You said it.
Great video! My armchair engineer advice: increase the width between wheels, mount the axle above the leaf springs to lower the trailer, and throw some bags of sand on the bed too! Happy hacking guys!
Or cant the wheels out at the bottom. At least keep it the same track as the UTV
Cut a set of mobile home axles to the track of the utv use coils and bars instead of leafs that would add durability and add alittle low slung weight as well.. Just my two cents..
Loved the show “Trucks”
Better suspension, wider axle and maybe more weight?
more weight !
@@davenelson9253 YEP MORE WEIGHT WOULD BE GOOD.
First, I need you to come and run this around all my fields. Second, a set of walking tandems would help with the bouncing, though it does make for some classic Camarata action.
I was waiting to hear " ok we're going to replace these blades with chainsaws" Great video Andrew 👍
Reciprocating blades like on hedge trimmers and some brush cutters would work better than chainsaws.
now thats what i wanna see
@@randacnam7321 he had a sickle bar cutter a while back. I'm guessing it didn't get the Cremata seal of approval.🤣
Love the trail trimmer! I agree, I would definitely consider this a successful creation. Perhaps you could add blades to the top brace to cath the overhanging branches that wouldn't catch on the side blades.
That's what I was thinking. Lotta branches hanging down now, will be face smackers with a little snow.
@@branchandfoundry560 That's what I was thinking too. he has the extra ones he cut off and the top bar is definitely getting smacked by the dangling branches.
That trailer just tripled in value now that it is signed!

Didn’t see how that was going to work but it actually does the job WELL. Looks good! Congrats on the subs!
This guy never ceases to amaze me
Real question is, when’s Andrew going to get himself a CNC plasma cutting table, step some of his projects up to the next level!!! Would be so sick to see what he could do with that!!
He already has, it's shown from time to time in background
Yep, he's got one but he doesn't know CAD/CAM...yet.
That is some mad max type design... I love it. Seems to work reasonably well though and at least you have already identified some weak areas that need a rethink. What an epic drone shot that is at the end too btw. So much woods out there where you are. It is so cool that places like that still exist.
Looking at it on the trail, it seems to me it needs a lower center of gravity. But with a giant metal frame above it, you'd have to put on some weights, like a toolbox or a water tank. Also, on version 2.0, I would put in adjustability everywhere, especially axle/tooth frame location and drawbar length.
I think a wider wheel base would help as well.
Could just put a rack in it to collect some of those big fallen logs, would add weight, stability and fire wood.
Been watching you for years, Andrew. Your imagination never ceases to amaze me. Simple, effective, genius. Great build!
The king is back…and he never left.
Congrats on 1 million subscribers Andrew, wish you many many more! Cheers from Croatia!
Every time I see you interact with your dog I am reminded of my dogs and what great companions they were, I’m too old now for another dog , I do miss them.

Lots of older shelter dogs looking for a loving home :)

I started watching you when you were doing lawn mowers. Gas saws and skidoos! Look at you now WOW!
Good proto-type for testing the concept , revealed the weaknesses and the tweaks needed .
Stacy David is the man his show "gears" is one of the best!
Ah, the humble pintle hitch. One of the strongest and least stable couplings.
The exterior design of your workshop is a very modern aesthetic look!
Great idea! It works surprisingly well. May I suggest adding wheel weights to the wheels to help keep the wheels down? They work great on my tractor to keep it grounded. Two 50 lbs weights will keep it from tipping.
Congrats on a million subs Andrew, you deserved it! Also, badass looking trailer!
Very impressive! I never thought that would work as well as it does.
On my trails, i just take out all the saplings near the trail. Takes time, but it's worth it. If you do that, your trimming goes to almost nothing.
I’m impressed with your ability to do all this work with minimal PPE. I too like to live life dangerously. Awesome build.
If you had the CNC table you've been talking about for a while now you'd be able to make a single template for repetitiive parts and use it to program the table to replicate it. Then you could save the templates with a detailed description for later use if you wanted to make additional pieces down the road.
Andrew should check out the new Arcdroid. It would be perfect for this! Don't think you can order them yet, but you'll be able to real soon.
I want one, for now I’ll just save that piece of cardboard
@@AndrewCamarata Cellulose based data storage!
@@SubNano144 kickstarter goes live tomorrow at 12:00 EST!
@@AndrewCamarata That is hilarious! In all honesty, making an outer (or inner) frame template about 1" tall to guide the plasma cutter is also a great way to go for small production. for straight cuts my brother made a long device with a threaded rod, screw drive that moves the plasma cutter along a straight edge for doing long cuts with a cordless screw driver moving it. works great when you dont have that fancy circular metal saw and want a straight cut... Love the channel!
Definitely watching this in full tonight. That trailer looked vicious on Instagram! Cheers Andrew 👊
You also like to put this on your TV when you go to bed? I swear, I sleep better when Andrew's playlist is running in the background.
Congrats on 1million Andrew! Best channel on UA-cam by a mile.
Wasn't sure but now I'm glad I stuck with it. Andrew never disappoints. It really looks like something out of Mad Max.
Congratulations Andrew on getting to the massive 1mill subscribers the big gold award, let’s hope you get to the next milestone soon. 🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👍
I say put the same blades on the top in a mild curve, then connect the trailer wheels to a chain driven set of three to five rollers in the middle that grab the branches and do a quick rough multch and spit them out the back. It would add weight to the center and help with the clogging.
Love the chain driven idea. Wonder if that could be used to make the blades reciprocate off of the wheel power?
I'm amazed at how well that works. Would some blades up top help catch some of the overhanging branches?
I figured the segments that were cut off to reduce the overall height would have been used on that top beam to catch the low hanging, overhead growth.
Either way, great idea and even better product. Can't imagine what the upgraded 2.0 version will be capable of.
I’ve been involved in some dodgy diy stuff before yet the way you attached the springs to the axle is next level !.
Love the process…thanks for an inside look at how things get from idea to reality. All that welding took me back to watching my dad when I was a kid in the 50's.
I remember "Trucks". Eventually he left that network and started a new show called Gearz. And he did finished that Power Wagon. Its called Sargent Rock, and its a bad-ass truck.
Worked much better than I thought it would. Definitely a 'win' as a proof-of-concept/rev. 0 build. Wondering if serrated blades would help during the slower speed areas.
Nice creation Andrew. I agree with the other commenters about blades across the top bar for canopy. To get the branches to fall out and not clog, consider making the top blade parallel to the ground, and bottom blade angled more towards the ground. Good luck with your creation. I'm sure you will find your way with this.
