I agree. All the fancy, smoothly flowing techniques go out the window when pressure is applied and they’re facing an uncooperative opponent. Even the ones with a decade or more of experience resort to wild flailing and crude attacks.
I know conditioning can overcome pain because as a welder I have to be mindful of not ignoring burns too long. They end up pretty server and I don’t feel it. The same with ICE winter diving. I never tried getting whacked 50 Times and getting use to it. Is most of it fear based like getting burns. I rodeo too and got use to the landings. I’m just wondering about the mindset; what’s needed; so to speak. Hope the questions aren’t too dumb. I’m just looking for a new obstacle for a while. Thanks.
You are certainly tough, but some of the head shots would ko the recipient which sometimes tilts the stick fights to rush down attacks since you don't get ko'd.
rushing happens in MMA as well, esp a wrestler fighting a decent striker, some of the dog brother's I've trained with have decent footwork, they are also good at stand up and ground grappling with the stick
@@markanderson9929 Which doesn't negate the point that you can tank hits with a Fencing Helmet but not in reality. Additionally you most certainly cannot take hits from a blade and expect to have a long life.
Incredible video, as always! Lots of swordfighting this time...do you go full contact with the, I guess aluminium, swords aus well? It's a little bit hard to see in the Slow-Mo...best wishes from Austria!
This is a Tribal Gathering. Every fighter here is a member of the Tribe i.e. possessed of more than a little experience. This allows for a certain understanding not to swing the aluminum blades so hard as to break bones.

Yeah all the stick and knife techniques go out the window when pressure is applied and it boils down to fists and feet. I’m disappointed in the lack of real technique here beyond a flail and a prayer.
All the trained techniques seem to go out the window and they resort to just wild ass wacking on a hope and a prayer. That’s very disconcerting if all their technique fails under pressure and they just rely on wild man flailing. Is there ever any finesse or good form in these meets?
there were a few good parries and counterattacks, particularly with the buckler and the long bo (I'm assuming was a stand-in for a sword). I think constant pressure, as in, them constantly doing this will yield much better results than other arts/gyms that never go full blast, everybody's first time sparring in boxing looks bad.
Did you expect an anime fight where they just do fancy moves? Real street fights don't have choreography, and you're clearly untrained if you can't see the parrying and counterattacking here.

great video. done this with bamboo but we were so defensive , rarely any whacks made it pass the elbow.
I would like to see Bo Staff vs Three Section Staff. That would be cool!
This is tough as hell; I love it. It would take some training to take the licks though.
I’m amazed at the extent of the blows these guys take without even a flinch.
