I find lack of kicks and angled footwork disturbing . In my own FMA training, we're rarely ever in the center line. We always go off the center line. We're trying not to stand in front of our opponent. Same thing with Boxing, always circling around and going at the opponent with angles.
going off the center line is something else entirely when the opponent has an extra meter reach due to the stick... and doesn't hesitate to drop the stick and dive on your waist when you try to flank, then bjj'ing the shit out of you. I tried that with one of the winners here at a seminar... no luck for me if I put it mildly 😁😁
at wariscoming: it's quite the contrary, we go with the slogan: "the greater the dichotomy, the profounder the transformation. higher consciousness through harder contact"
+ZombieTipz we do not go for groin and eyes, this has nothing to do with self-defence or street-fighting, a dog brother fight is a fight amongst gentlemen in the "ritual world" - we go hard but we also follow the golden rule: "no judges, no referees, no trophies. one rule only: be friends at the end of the day! this means our goal is that no one spends the night in the hospital. our goal is that everyone leaves with the IQ with which they came"
Okay, that I can definitely appreciate. A certain level of respect. So if I showed up for a Gathering, the rules are basically the same as for the UFC? (I say UFC because I know theirs are different from ONE and RIZIN)
you could say that it has similar rules like in mma (maybe closer to vale tudo, since we kick a downed person and we do headbutts), but you have to consider a dog brother fight is not a competition, it's a fight under friends and gentlemen. it's not about 'winning' or 'losing', it's about testing one's martial art & fighting skills. we go hard but we try to avoid concussions and serious injuries. remember - "no judges, no referees, no trophies. one rule only: be friends at the end of the day! this means our goal is that no one spends the night in the hospital. our goal is that everyone leaves with the IQ with which they came"
Gunis Lee knees and elbow yes, groin no because we have the golden rule of "be friends at the end of the day" more about: dogbrothers.ch/?page_id=28&lang=en
I didn't quite understand this, "Although many of the Dog Brothers have come out of DBMA, this is NOT necessary in order to become a Dog Brother." I'm guessing that this takes 6 or so years at least to become a FDB?
This is how Eskrima sparring should be done. Not with all that bullshit padding they use in the WEKAF tournaments. My bahi sticks need to taste more blood, bring back the days of the Juego Todo
Well they still attack like idiots. Put a training blade in so they have to treat it like a blade then they might finally learn something. Otherwise this is complete crap and useless.
Tyler Lalonde its called pressure. If you never experience it in training you will fold to it in reality. Not everything in training should mimic exactly what you think will happen in reality. First its limiting to your progression of skill and second you dont really know what will happen in every real fight.
northernpike13 thats bullshit. Fools that don't even know how to attack or not have even training doesn't prove if something works or not. the person isn't what makes a system, it's the system that makes the person in to a fighter.
I am all the way envious. Enjoying the videos seeing everyone having fun and growing is its own appeal.
✌️
outstanding! I love the small shields, similar to African stick fighting, awesome.
Every year is going better and harder.A special moment for the fighter at 3:51.He fights without gloves. That needs balls.
Ya'll Swiss DO NOT PLAY! love watchin' these "Euro" gatherings....tough stuff...big respect...my plan is to not piss any of you off :)

fighting and training are 2 different things -- how much real contact fighting have you done...?

+LonelysDen Do you guys outlaw groin shots? Looking to get into it, but my background is in Krav Maga and groin shots are like 30% of Krav
+ZombieTipz

Thanks LonelysDen!
I always love the whip fights. When are you going to come out with some instructionals for the whip?
Dylan Jones
not a bad idea
funny folk, anyone from frankfurt ? i'd love to fiund my own tribe xD but wont be limited to sticks and halls :)
What kind of shields are those? New or ancient design?
wie kann man daran teilnehmen?
how to join the Party ?
does anyone ever go for the knee, elbow, or groin hit? and if so, isn't that actually harmful to training?
Gunis Lee knees and elbow yes, groin no because we have the golden rule of "be friends at the end of the day"

Por que no usan nunchaku?
if there is one thing I really think most of these people need to work on it's mount escapes, they all grab with the legs, it just doesn't work
How long does it take to become a full dog?
have a look at, dogbrothers.ch/?page_id=32&lang=en
generally it takes around 6-7 gatherings (approx. 20-30 fights) to become a Full Dog Brother)
I didn't quite understand this, "Although many of the Dog Brothers have come out of DBMA, this is NOT necessary in order to become a Dog Brother." I'm guessing that this takes 6 or so years at least to become a FDB?
Wuuffff!
What is this hiking passing the ball and bailing like a broken rucksack with a broken record inside 🤔
What's this sport called?
Šphex Real Contact Stick Fighting, and we are the "Dog Brothers"
a good number of fighters have a base in the filipino martias arts (kali or escrima)
WANT!
i don't get it.......whats the point of just mindlessly swinging for the fences and trying to kill the other guy?
This is how Eskrima sparring should be done. Not with all that bullshit padding they use in the WEKAF tournaments. My bahi sticks need to taste more blood, bring back the days of the Juego Todo
Are those sparring sticks?
kirk cavenaugh what do you mean with sparring sticks?
just seem like to people mindlessly hitting each other
4:08 !
Vendemmia
isn't that awesome? a classic disarm under real contact pressure!
LonelysDen aha yes and i like a lot the action right after with the block by hand:D
LonelysDen (p.s. i sendend you a mail about vienna some days ago...:P)
Not that different from wearing an armour. There's no way you can continue fighting being hit in the head.
Well they still attack like idiots. Put a training blade in so they have to treat it like a blade then they might finally learn something. Otherwise this is complete crap and useless.
Tyler Lalonde
do not misconstrue, this is STICK FIGHTING not blade fighting,
LonelysDen I'm not saying it blade fighting just saying not carrying about getting hit and just rushing in like that is stupid and bad training.
Tyler Lalonde its called pressure. If you never experience it in training you will fold to it in reality. Not everything in training should mimic exactly what you think will happen in reality. Tyler Lalonde You must do a lot of forms.
use metal and protect yourself way more instead of doing this dumb techniqueless and painful rumble
