Nice to see...not only to revel in his brilliance but also to see a routine that has been taken by a current artist who doesn't credit his source while basking in the light for himself.
Correct. Late at night when I wrote that and forgot most before 1960, Mostly, we have the "Idol" shows and singers of the like. Of the Greatest, was Brel, little known at all in the West (apart from the musical which translated some of his songs into English. His writings are amazing, and I do not believe will ever be equaled. Thanks for the comment!
you are most welcome :) and i have never heard about Brel.then again...i am not from the US and i dont watch Idols,Xfactor or whatever talent hunting commercial crappy show. Its all about "dial now to vote!" and that is considered with a pretty word...entertainment.
could well be...Danny Kaye did impressions as well tho not on a broad scale as Sammy I think.Great Great talent...dont got guys like around anymore.Allround entertainers that is...
Watching Sammy Dance in this clip, I think Alphonso Ribeiro who played Carlton on Fresh Prince, could have played Sammy in a biopic and did a good job, but he's probably a bit too old for the role now.
I'm thinking, was he one of the first, comic impersonators? I know he was doing this in the 50's? Acting, singing, acting WHILE singing, dancing, impersonating, comedy. WHAT didn't he do?
This man could do it all. Totally underrated compared to his monumental talent. Who since has been able to fill his shoes?
He was amazing!
The most talented versatile entertainer in American history! He could do it all! My personal favorite!
Awesome Sammy Davis Jr. Never knew he did all these impressions, a true genius..
A shame this kind of entertainment is now extinct!!! :-(
I've been watching a lot of UA-cam, and he may be the most-talented star ever.
The legend deserves a great movie about his life.
A wonderful idea but who could possibly play him?
Love this Man, What a talent. Miss you Sammy.
He was the best , There will never be another
AN AMAZING LEGEND !!!! THE BEST IN THE RAT PACK. HE COULD DO ANYTHING ! SING, DANCE, ACT, IMPRESSIONIST, GUN SLINGER, ETC ALL !
Ah yess the late great & multi-talented Sammy Davis Jr🙌 i loved when he did Dean Martin lol he tried to drink the microphone😄😂
Sammy was absolutely marvelous. What a performer.
perhaps the most talented entertainer of all times. i wish i had seen the rat pack back in the days, but i´m simply too young....
Nice to see...not only to revel in his brilliance but also to see a routine that has been taken by a current artist who doesn't credit his source while basking in the light for himself.
RIP Sammy Davis, you're the greatest!
One in a million performer.
Incomparable talent! What an entertainer. Absolutely brilliant.
@mantell honestly i think this style of entertainment and this type of talent became extinct the instant he died. One of a kind he was
You can turn off the sound and still know who he's impersonating. Oh, how I miss him!
The way he did that Brando impersonation mostly with mannerisms was awesome!!
wow, he really brought down the house!!
All those impersonations were spot on! Very funny Jerry Lewis at the end.
Sammy Davis was GENIOUS.
Susie
Yes Sammy was truly one of the GREATS
brilliant peformer
Even with all his talent he was not allowed to stay in the hotels he was performing at!!!
So sad!!! Ridiculous even.
Very good impressions.

that's funny "This is me.." Telling the audience, The impressiojns are over and now back to ME!
Sammy Davis Jr. elevated showbiz to a higher level.
Sammy = LEGEND
I love this. Also used it as proof to win 20 bucks. A friend didn't believe a dance titled 'mashed potatoes' existed. LOL
true at that point he was probably still working on the voice, but you have to admit the whole intro that he used leading in was amazingly spot on.
man can singggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg!!!!!!!!!!!
@furrowin
I'm sure he also worked his ass off for it!
