- This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. The language of Play is a language that we all spoke fluently in childhood. By the time we become adults, most of us have forgotten the language of play. Matt uses play and joy to open people up, allowing them to be creative and impactful - even in places one might expect play to be the last thing on a person's mind. His analogy is that we should be so lucky as to work like our dogs. Enjoy this creative fun-filled romp through airports, dog parks and even prison.
Matt is the Founder and “Emperor” of Playfair, Inc., and one of the nation’s foremost authorities on the use of fun and humor in team building. A member of the Professional Speaker’s Hall of Fame, Matt was named one of the “21 Top Speakers for the 21st Century” by 'Successful Meetings' magazine. A prolific author, Matt's most recent titles include 'Managing To Have Fun', 'Gently Down The Stream', 'Work Like Your Dog', and 'Dog's Don't Bite When A Growl Will Do'. Matt also created the television special "Fun Works!: The Power of Humor in the Workplace" for PBS television.

I feel called out
When I was in 7th grade my science teacher told me "if you eat the cake now, you will suffer later in life" it basically means that if you screw around and have fun in your young years, you have a very hard time playing catch up when you are older. I unfortunately took that advice way to extreme, I basically didn't eat any cake at all all the way up until the age of now 30. To the point where I really don't even know how to enjoy life or have fun. So it is no surprise that there are some people who really do have to search for things like this online.
Have you ever seen the face of people in hunter gather tribes eat Western candies. It's almost repulsively sweet to them. Never eating "cake" can be too sweet later in life. Stop TRYING to eat the cake. Instead of you trying to be happy and have fun, be the baker, or cake maker in this metaphor. You might be the type of person that finds fun and joy by simply providing it for others. That may be the most you can get, but it can be enough. Also make sure you're not trying to emulate a synthetic version of fun that is created through marketing and media--you've seen the commercials and ads. That's a trap that most people fall for.

This is by far one of the best TED Talks I've watched! What a great speaker and wholedhearted message! We need more fun, we need to let our guards down so we can connect with each other! Love every minute of this and I'm sure I'll have a smile on my face for the rest of the day :)

The title is such that every one wants to know more and more about this simple but very different and difficult aspect of each one of ours lives called fun. Further no text formula motivating is not generally there but some simple examples and INSPIRATIONS in place of instructions. The success of such a talk is always there however clapping intensity of audience hands speaks VOLUMES as in present case. Thanks.
