We actually have the same understanding of this song, this is why I love this song so much because how our mind wanted us to die but then the body reacts in opposite way and tells us that it's wrong to do that to yourself. i think it's kind of about how our dna itself is wired to keep us living even though we want to die, and the frustrations of that, the "ikiteitai yo" to me feels like a mocking of the "code" written in ourselves. the beat itself also sounds like a heartbeat to me
as a person with mental issues, the worst part from the video is the part of giving up - cause I understand it so well, especially as a teenager. As a teenager, you cant get professional help with your "addictions", as the psychologist/ therapeutist or whomever you're going to is obliged by law to tell your parents each time you tell them about a wound or a s-thought, which, as you can guess, only causes more suffering to the one who initially wanted help, as me and all of my friends who ever spoke about this to a professional got screamed at after and taken stuff away - and since, most of the time, humans cant help you either, you're stuck in this cycle of being unable to get help no matter how much you'd wish to get help without consequences.

Iirc, Gehenna is mentioned in abrahamic religions (Christian, Islam, and Judaism) obviously it means "hell" (Gehinnom for Judaism, Jahannam for Islam)
SH or D word yourself is a biggest sin in these religion, which somewhat makes sense (it drives you to hell)

I'm Jewish, I can confirm that sh and d word yourself are in fact a big sin in this religion. I have talked to my mother about my feelings and that I really don't want to live and she ended up getting really mad at me and telling me that I'll go to a bad place if I continue with this and that God will punish me for wanting to die or trying to act upon it.
I'm already know that this song would be deep. But sadly I'm to focused to the MizuEna "sorry that I'm deceived you" And "sorry that i couldn't tell you". This vid open my eyes.

i did saw that one but im not really sure but to me, since its on the beginning on 2nd verse that says "how are you/oh youre still doing that?" i interpret them as the singer mocking those people who asked how they're doing but don't actually care, as i state in the video about how a lot of people came just to give unsolicited advice that harms the person even more :"D

They feel unease looking at it and associate the fish with death ever since.

i think it could be about a world where everyone's immortal and overworked constantly. in that world, euthanasia would be celebrated like retirement, and there would be parties.
suicide would, of course, be illegal. they can't make you pay to die if you do it yourself, so they'll prosecute your family if you do.
the lyrics and video point to this, like "it's so unfortunate but everyone has to live", and the "this is an improper statement" censoring and covering every single suicidal sentence
also, "ikite itai yo" could also be heard as "it hurts to stay alive" as well, so there's a double meaning.
