you need something to stop pump when sulfur volcano goes dormant. I did such tamer (well, much more messier pipe work than yours, but idea was the same ;)) and what happend is during dormancy pump gladly pumped out all water that steam turned into... 28:39 they did add that neat little thing if you does that... - you see that 'material' tab? On it, you can change material from which thing is built and order change, and what it does is queue deconstruct and build commands. It is usefull when you have buildings like bridge or valves where orientation of building matters. So you dont end up bulding damn thing for the third time, because you did choose richt material but wrong orientation ;) Happend to me more than once... or 10 times for that matter. Very usefull command. Oh, and if you choose to play with it, don't forget to actually clicck button UNDER the material list 'order change'.
Why do you have your steam condense into water? It shouldn't ever happen. The steam turbines can't get the steam below 125C, and the sulfur erupts way above that. Which means that any further cooling is due to a heat leak from somewhere. Make sure you don't have bridges that connect steam chamber with outside and/or non-insulated tiles.
Agree with being fed up with aqua tuner cooling loops. I stopped playing ONI because I just can't stand to do it anymore. Most aspects of the game depend on an aqua tuner deleting heat.
you might like the space radiator mod then, lets you ditch heat into the vacum of space but it gets slower the colder its contents. works well with the HVAC Expansion for multi stage cooling systems
Elegant solution to the sulfur vent. I think I always tried to make it a solid and put a lot more energy/effort into it. I guess you need to set up a rocket program next to find wheat.
Yaaaaay, back on the farm... asteroid!! It's a Tundra Biome mimic!! There just to drag a dupe through the radioactive cold. Rude. XD WB! Sending all of my best to you and the fam!
I'd love to see an Echo minibase achievement challenge run. i love the tiny chaos and trying to always maximize space. (hint: use rocket interiors all over the place)
Not sure what I'm doing wrong with this game. It's not that I've lost my colony. I just seek to reach a point where I can stabilize my power production without having to rely on coal. And when it doesn't work I give up. I've been making industrial bricks with the expectation I should be able to make lots of power from the steam. But I can never get the room hot enough to matter much. Which I guess is the point? It's a heat management tool with some power byproduct? But what then should I really be doing for long term power production?
No clue my friend. I'm kinda stuck where you are ish. it becomes so slow and boring while I'm finally able to tidy or it's non stop emergencies because I over extended lol. I also seek the middle ground where projects can occur. I still accidentally sometimes do like 20 hrs in a weekend tho so I still love the game.
@@grimnar6725 you can play the DLC right now for no cost, it supposedly lasts 3 weeks, they have a beta that anyone can play, right click ONI > properties > Betas > then opt into the Frosty DLC
@@slinky5669 I didn't find that it would provide enough. I think I got maybe 1 to 1.5 generators worth of fuel from my available geyser. But I'll keep it in mind and see what I can make of it. It's a suggestion worth thinking more on. Thanks.
if you're trying to produce food on the asteroid, where sleet wheat is nonexistent, then you could use the saturn traps with beetiny to get plant meat.
Love the farm series and other ONI series too. Maybe jump over to the frozen planet for sweet wheat as a prequel to the upcoming dlc. We don’t need other games! DLC is coming, plenty of new content for you to make, I hope. I have never played a game more addictive than ONI
I don't actually mind these videos, or the content. These have been educational, especially as things change with updates. That said, if you're looking for suggestions for the type of challenges you could do, I wouldn't mind seeing a playthrough of ONI where, after a set amount of cycles have passed, a generation of dupes "retire", either by death chosen by your community or placed into ONI's version of a retirement home, with the rest of "younger" dupes left to take up the mantle.
When using a bug with 1 kilo packets, sometimes, when loading the game, the sulfur solidifies into a block instead of debris. So I recommend building in a robo miner just in case.
12:15 finally, someone else that sees the utility of pufts as portable gas vaccums! When they turn into a densed/prince they start gobble up your oxygen, but you can use them in the 75 cycles before that happen and put their offprings in a contained room until they morph back into a variant that doesnt eat oxygen (but i personaly dont care too much about the oxygen that is outside the colony bc idealy i have a liquid lock in the entry to the living space and the dupes are inside suits everywhere else
13:05 it's probably got something to do with the order the items are sorted internally to the game. IIRC surf n'turf has been around a lot longer than the other foods so it's probably first in the list out of those.
32:59 I've always wanted to see rocket exhaust capture and collection. I've seen steel underneath to transfer thermals to a steam generator, but not someone collecting the exhaust itself.
as a recomendation (and if you are up to attempting it) you could try out dwarf fortress. There is a pretty steep learning curve to the game, but after learning the essentialls you slowly learn new ways to handle problems and learn of different items that fix other problems etc. (Might be too big of a pivot, in terms of watching from a viewer standpoint, but maybe worth a look.)
Just 2 ideas I think would be good, but they are nd a a ways off. 1st, I remember you had a supper room for your 150 dup run, would that thing help with your rockets. Lots of oxygen and hydrogen for the fuel. The second thing, would you be able to use super coolant to freeze a small room to make an infinite water/ice storage? Just throw the ice at a volcano to melt ice/cool volcano debris with rails. And if the room is in space, a cataclysmic failure won't break the colony. I wanted to try these for my own game, but don't know what would happen.
I've been away from ONI, for a while, surprized most people not using the automated doors to compress their gases and liquids into tiny spaces, right at geyser or volcano. Zero power usage, until you pump it out for use. So no massive storage areas required. *just use air vent tiles for the liquid storages.
You know, I always despised how the asteroids look when you dig everything out. Leaving most of the nature alone would make it both prettier, AND you would save time. Also please start ranching the sponge slugs, they are great, trust me.
I'd like to see a taming volcano option that doesn't require the radiation research, been trying to figureit out for a bit now but without a reliable options
So, that area with all the ice and snow at the bottom of the second planetoid looks to me like a frozen core, which only superficially resembles a Tundra biome. 99.9% of my experience is with the base game (although I watch streamers who mostly play SO!) so maybe the rules are different, but my suspicion is that either there is another Tundra biome hidden somewhere, or that the planetoid description is a lying liar that lies about that. Frozen core stands in the same position as magma biome, and (presumably: I haven't seen it yet) the new Forest Core from the FPP beta.
I think would be fun sein u play similar games, like stonehearth, rimworld, dwarves fortress or other colony management games For instance Rimworld with the mods dubs bad higiene and vannila temperature expanded I think would be like oni but top down

Sucks that the series feels like it's trudging for you, man. Gaming is supposed to be fun! You seem to enjoy mixing it up and trying new things. How about mixed ranches, similar to how you've been doing multi-species farms? Many species can share gas and temp ranges... :D Also re: game ideas, your mention of the lo-fi vids got me thinking. Have you ever played Journey, and/or do you enjoy games like that? I know it's not a series you could make a long-term thing of, but for atmosphere it's second to none, and it's the closest you'll ever get to chill/lo-fi gaming that still has a game in it. No spoken words, though! Just good vibes. :)

What I’d like to see: You properly finishing a series. And I don’t mean any offense, I’ve been watching you for about a year now, and I binged a whole bunch of your earlier ONI series as well, the common denominator between all of them is that you almost never quite reach the goal that you set for yourself at the start.
