You could also keep the current speakers, add passive radiator in place of the sub, could even add a second passive radiator in place of the port, save $$$$, and get decent bass output
YEP! Great idea. I though about doing that and capping off the front port. I decided to go with four 8" Skar Audio PRO speakers and a new NVX amp (2-channel, 600w). I just removed the 10" sub and filled the hole with insulation foam. I got it playing right now with the four 5.25" coaxials and the front port. Not bad sounding...but, not "over the top" at all. StayTuned...parts will be coming in this next week and I will start revamping everything.
I'm using a small plastic ammo but I got two Rockford Fosgate 4in prime speakers and run them on a marine amp. I'm planning on a 30Ah Lipo4 battery but I need something to give structural rigidity to the box once I put the speakers in so I'd love advice on that.
Plastic is easier to cut holes...but, old-school steel ammo cans are stronger and produce better sound (if done right). I made a couple of small lightweight 50-cal ammo can speakers with dual 4" woofers/tweeters and they sound EXCELLENT.
I totally love ve the sound of paper cone..but I'm a jukebox girl. I think your bass is over powering everything...try a company called outrageous audio.
Thanks. I pulled the trigger and ordered the paper cone Skar 8" full range PRO speakers (four of them) for it and a new NVX 600w 2-channel amp. Lots of work ahead. If I get it all to work...it will be one seriously loud portable speaker system
