What Happens When - Foreign Discs on PS5 Digital Edition

This video shows what happens when you place foreign discs like the PS1, PS2, DVD etc. in an external 4K disc drive plugged into the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.

The digital edition might look cooler and more slim but obviously it's the regular disc drive console that you need to go with.

Sony should make an external disc drive for PS5, to enable PS1, PS2, and PS3 backwards compatibility.

It truly is interesting. Almost can say that foreign code could be executed at some point. The most interesting is the fact that the PS1 game unsupported message appeared at the games section. It recognized the disc as a game. Sony might be working/testing some kind backwards compatibility.

I remember, with the fat PS3, DivX format wasn't compatible until sony made an update. So maybe in the future, an external player will be compatible because It was smart to try !!

I think the reason why it's doing this is because, like the PS4, the USB Drivers for everything are software-based, which has issues with delay and timing. (IE: USB Keyboards have a higher delay than bluetooth ones.)

What if you remove the disk drive from a disc edition ps5 and connect it to the digital ps5 with sata cable or whatever it uses??

chances are - sONY will release an accessory or peripheral like an external BD drive sometime in the future for the ps5
