As far as I can tell, the only way to get a pitcher is if it comes as a bonus for completing the tasks on the left of the screen. I'm at a point where both of my tasks require things that come from the pitcher, and since I don't have a pitcher, I can't complete any more tasks that might eventually provide me with a pitcher!
