How can you take a song and seamlessly and phenomenally convert them into these styles?
You guys deserve billions of views and fans.
It's surprisingly simple from a technical standpoint (not to say it's easy, it's hard as hell, but it's simple).
A song is lyrics, and a chord progression.
a Style/Genre is a rhythm, tempo, and tone (and occasionally lyrical embellishments).
So if I want to sing any given song in any given style, I can do so given the chord progression and the lyrics, given enough skill and knowledge of the style and the right instruments.

Oh man I'm just discovering this channel today... I'm a musician and there's just so much good going on. Every musician is ON POINT. Every arrangement is true to the period and the original song. Every singer is technically amazing, and they're always bringing their A-game putting the emotion in the lyrics.

Huh. This is in 4/4, and the original is in 22/8, but none of the lyrics feel too far spaced or too crowded. That's a damn fine re-write.
Right? I feel like the syncopated entry on the second 'Hey ya' in each chorus line really gives it the right feel to evoke the cut-measure-feel from the original. It has no excuse to work as well as it does, but it's a fantastic fit.
Since when do we write 22/8? Original is constant 4/4 with 6/4 - or 2/4 if you like - in various places.
Kovacs Gergo you're right, that's the way any real composer / arranger would write that, I'm just used to weird percussion exercises that are written in a single consistent meter that describes a mixed meter melody.
Shming Master lol I was gonna write the same comment but the other guy beat me to it, I play all non percussive instruments so I was confused when I saw the 22/8... and was like is that what people do in other countries 😂

Here we are in June 2023 and I just "discovered" this fabulous singer (Sara) a couple of weeks ago (PMJ's Don't Stop Believin'). Where have I been?
This performance is absolutely gorgeous. Not only is the arrangement beautiful and a great improvement over the original, but Sara is also such an amazing performer - she is mesmerizing and an absolute star. Hey ya!

This is one of the reasons that I've enjoyed these videos so much: the performers are having just as much fun and enjoying them as much as anyone watching and listening.
Sara Niemietz has one of the greatest voices I've ever heard, love it! She is a real charismatic performer. And these back up singers are great. When they can sign male and female parts, I guess you only need two of them.
