- It’s my birthday today, so we’re dropping another video today to celebrate! Here’s a fun little project I’ve been tinkering with on the bench. A boosted harbor freight motor! What should we put it in?! Let meknow in the comments,and maybe that’s what we’ll do.

Can't wait to see this on a machine. I did read somewhere that those superchargers leak oil into the intake under vacuum from the motor, be interesting to see if that happens to yours.
I read that too and seen a video of someone with that issue. Fingers crossed we don’t have that issue! But I’ll be as honest and transparent as possible. Hopefully get it dialed and into something assp
@@HandDriven be interesting to see if it can be taken apart and good seals be put in it, like skf seals
If I pick another up or this one fails, I’ll certainly tear it down and try to cross reference parts like that. There’s a group I’m in on FB and they’re pretty knowledgeable. I could even run that by them and if they’re available, do it now to avoid potential failure. Or let it fail gloriously and laugh maniacally and do it all over again?! 😅😂

If it wheelies I’ll be so stoked 😂😂😂 I have a few good ideas for wheelie bars for when we go to the track and do hits. Deffff gotta keep that front down and go straight and FAST
@@HandDriven that would be rad because if you had individual rear brakes for steering then technically you could kinda control the wheelie.

@@HandDriven what did you mount the supercharger too?
So I used the fuel tank mounts on the motor, then I used some 1.5” angle iron to make the lower bracket from. Then the upper mount I used some tubing and mounted it to one of the head bolts. If you look around the 6:40 minute mark is when I mount it. Maybe it could be a little easier to see what’s going on

You got it. It’s pretty basic stuff, I used an Aisin amr300 supercharger I got off eBay for 115$ then a pwk26mm carb off Amazon. The rest was basically radiator hoses and exhaust. I’ll link the parts in the info under the video 👍🏻thanks for checking the video out.
Updated the links in info. Let me know if they don’t work or if you have any other questions. 👍🏻it’s honestly way easier than you’d think. Lots of bad info online and people just saying it won’t work but so far it’s working well for me. See how it performs on something soon

Ahhh ok I forgot about it. It’s an adapter for putting a 3/4 bore clutch onto a 5/8” bore shaft. It worked for testing purposes but under load it cockeyed. I will need to get some 3/4” keyed shaft the same size as the crank, then machine the center out for a bolt to go through the assembly and into the crankshaft. I kind of knew it wasn’t going to work long term, but wants to test the theory. As for pulley, I got the pulley at my local tractor supply👍🏻

@@DSteel5408 hell yeah 👍🏻 I got a spare one off my race car, I gotta get an O2 bung to weld into the exhaust and we’ll be set. Will make it sooo much easier for tuning
@@HandDriven I bought a wideband for my XR150L but figured that I could also use it for my Audi lol. They take the guessing out of tuning.

You don't need a bigger pully! The carb being on the intake side of the supercharger is causing the restriction.
@@bobg3034 that’s kind of the conclusion I came to as well. Going to try a solid charge pipe to see if that can help with that issue. Then if we can’t it to tune properly I have some blow through ideas 👍🏻

What size carburetor jets are you using?
@@robertomeneguini948642 pilot and 115 main. I haven’t dialed it in yet so those numbers will likely change. I’m in the lab now putting it on something very interesting so I’ll update jetting info once I get it on there and we can ride and tune it
What about the waste gate? Does it need one?
@@lemjohnson6798 I’m thinking you’re correct in the long run. I have a few blow off valves but they’re kind of big, I’m going to try mitigating the need for a BOV by adding a lot of plenum volume but I guess we will just have to try and see 😅😅

@@pancudowny good eye! My dad’s friend gave it to my brother and I in probably 1997/8? It was on top of a Tamiya Grasshopper that was for its time pretty fast lol we had to go get crystals from radio shack to run it. Good times

Dude you gotta equalize your audio. You can't just blast the music twice as loud as your voice. No one is going to watch your videos if they have to scramble to turn down the audio, or hit mute.

That’s not my style brother. There’s plenty of UA-camrs talking to cameras, I do things a little differently here. I understand it’s not for everyone 👍🏻🙏🏻
