What a fantastic looking (and sounding!) bike. You can keep your clip ons all to yourself, and while I'm at it, you can keep the "shorty" front guard, but these are personal preferences. Plenty will love the bike just the way it is. I might yet be proven wrong, but I really feel that bikes of this nature are going to be the salvation of motorcycling. We have obsessed far to long with "numbers", when it comes to bikes. How light, how powerful, how fast... who cares. If you can move it around the garage and it keeps up with the traffic, and your mates on sneaky pint run, that's enough performance, right there. If you can do that, and the bike is cheap enough to buy and maintain and it's a whole lot of fun, then welcome to what motorcycles are meant to be. If that's not your thing, just buy a fast car, you're not really a biker, at all.
I've enjoyed watching all these BSA custom videos, I particularly enjoyed the 2nd scrambler and this one, where the custom jobs are more subtle but done so well.
We would love to see what customisation you have done. You can either send photos through our Instagram channel or our You Tube channel Dad 'N' Darcy their is an email 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Definitely will - need a piece or two more and it will be done. Don't underestimate a de-cat and akro exhaust on a Thruxton to make a major difference in sound. 👍
I was on the Motorcycle expo yesterday I sat on a T120 and the scrambler 1200 from Triumph and those bikes and I felt at home, well I bought my first motorcycle today SV650 as a starter! 2006 33k KM ridden, great shape :3
Great looking bike, proper Cafe Racer , for those of us past our half century it's probably not going to be the most comfortable bike to ride however for young Mr Darcy it almost certainly fits the bill for a weekend blast to the coast for a coffee and an ice cream.
Superb. The Gold Star doesn't really do much for me in all honesty, but these three examples, particularly the latter two, are fantastic. I'd love opening the garage to those on a sunny morning 👌🏻
Oh that is a beautiful build! I really wish they would sell these new BSA's in the Netherlands, Royal Enfield is charging quite a lot for their 650's, so there's plenty of room to undercut them in price.
That must have been just just like riding an original BSA Goldstar in the 60s (not that you'd know)! 🤣 Great reviews of all the Moore Speed Racing bikes. 👍
That exhaust is particularly stunning!! If i was to ever get a bsa goldstar id love to fit one on it. Apart from the fact its apparently "competition use only" a big part of me is tempted to say screw it and buy the exhaust anyway.
Quite a nice one, and tastefully made. Would call this "The working man's Thruxton". First thing to customize would really be the radiatior, which looks leave quite a bit to be desired in my opionion. Maybe it's possible to fit a Trumph radiator to these bikes?
Well said mate. There's no getting round the need for a radiator these days, but Triumph seems to have got it right. How difficult would it be for BSA to engineer a taller one that actually fits between the frame tubes? That said, I thought all three of the custom Gold Stars Darcy reviewed were brilliant - especially this cafe racer style one. Interesting to note they were invited onto the BSS stand at the show to demonstrate what is possible.
That was a really entertaining review, and I am not a motorcyclist. The mudguards are ridiculously short and the riding position would not be for me. But on balance it is a lovely bike. I thought your inclusion of the cattle was brilliant. They charmed me!
Painting it black would be some help, instead of making it a bloody feature. I wonder if a smaller rad could be fabricated and maybe fit a big oil cooler in that hole the cat came out of?
I have one. I did.nt like the rad but I Don.t notice it anymore and you can't see it from saddle unlike many bikes. Engine I love. Tons of torque. In its class of course
Another stunning looking bike, I think the second one would be my favourite. On this one the radiator does stand out more than the others and this one seems to have a silver guard and the others are black making it less noticeable. I wonder if rear set pegs would finish the riding position off.
I think if they raised the headlight up a little, it would capture that original bsa, clubman trim look. They really shouldve made a clubman trim for this bike
Looks proper old school, could have been back in 1962 watching you ride off down that road. The seat looks great, radiator just needs a black guard otherwise I have no problem with that. I'd keep the standard exhaust and just remove the baffle. It's got me thinking.😢
Don't know how you don't notice the radiator, it's all you can see from the front! Why didn't they make it black or paint an engine on it or make it slim like the Bonnevilles? Needs a polished engine too.
I own the GoldStar and have done for just 1 year so what do I think, well some bits i like but a lot i don't. The front mudguard, the white faced radiator (so odd), the clip-ons, the seat with a hump are just not for me. I do like the exhaust system, expensive ? and those gold star badges or are they stickers look brilliant, got to get some of those.
Stunning bike. The view from the front is amazing & very few bikes unless from the 30s, 40s, 50s & 60s can achieve this. If my back could withstand it, I would seriously consider getting one, but unfortunately, I would need ibuprofen on drip while riding. Great review.👍
Very cool design. That tiny front mudguard is a miss though, it just looks silly and doesn't match the classic cafe racer style, a classic cromed one would look much better. And for some reason the big radiator is more visible on this one than on the two scramblers, they seem to have given it a light coloured protector? A dark one would have been better. Apart from that a cool (and a bit too loud) cafe racer.
Every modified BSA you’ve shown has the same issue to my eyes, namely the huge gap between the engine and frame, with the stock exhaust it’s hidden but not so once the down pipe is altered, apart from that it looks great 👍 (Maybe a perforated alloy plate could be used to hide the gap?, similar hole pattern to the cover on the injector, maybe?, maybe not? 🙂). P.S. How about fill that under engine gap with a bespoke radiator!!!, get rid of the oversize standard one, perfect world 👍
Like it Mr Darcy looks gorgeous apart from the Radiator ! Don’t want to see it looks looks awful needs to be at least like the others in black terrible thinking there don’t want to see it Don’t notice it otherwise 😮 needs a longer mudguard at the front Good job all in all 😊😊
Out of the 3 you showed, this one is my favorite, I love café racers fare more than scramblers, actually I don't like scramblers that much great vid as usual and stop scaring the cows lololol
Hate to sound like an old git, but that is a proper bike. A real cafe racer. Would be nicer to look at without a rad, and would warm up quicker being aircooled. Cracking time piece too, nice watch. Cheers.
That radiator would put me off getting one,the Triumphs do a much better job of concealing the rad, looks Abit like it's built to a budget, the best thing is the Rotax engine
The bike is very beautifull, but just don't like the big washboard up front the engine (and I know it is nessecery but an engineer culd maybe come up with a more elegant solution).
Sorry my young and passionate friend your wrists and neck do make a difference at least for some of us😄😄 If it didn’t one those Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RRs would be in my garage. It has taken me a few years to adjust to the Triumph Thruxton R.
To think that podgy middle aged and older men will be the main customer, if the youngsters who'd naturally go for sports bikes bought these they'd have classic street cred in the coffee shop scene as you experienced in the high street.
Is it me or did the bike @ 14:53 cut out when you tried to rev match? If it did it appears it does so when warm too. I’ve ridden a stock one and it doesn’t behave this way which suggests the custom build mods are causing it, possibly lack of back pressure with that free flowing exhaust would be my guess. I’d call that pretty dangerous if it occurred in the middle of a junction.
Sounds and looks very good (radiator and useless mudguard excepted!), but not for this 78-yo; the riding position would give me a great deal of pain. I'll stick with my '05 Guzzi Breva 750, thanks.
What made me laugh was when you said about wearing one the bullocks family members, it reminded me of when my wife and i had a holiday cottage on a farm in Devon. They had some sheep, and on the last night before coming home, we all went out for a meal, where i had a lamb shank. When we got back to the cottage, some sheep were standing beside the fence, when i said "hello mate, i`ve just eaten your cousin". I bet the snowflakes won`t like it? 😂😂😂. Great vid, and even though i`m no fan of the new Mahindra BSA range, i do think Moorspeed have done a good job improving the looks on all three models.
Shame they couldn't come up with a set of rearsets to finish the job properly and give the correct look and riding position. As it is you'll look like a high speed Quasimodo..
Too uncomfortable for such as I. Even when young (decades ago) I didn’t like Clip-on bars and rear-set pegs. It makes a motorbike too uncomfortable in the same way Ape-hangers and waaaaaaaay forward pegs do for Harleys. This is a fine example of what some would call “form follows function” because I have never needed to be in the monkey-humping-a-football position to ride any bike anywhere. That watch is excellente’! I like watches and wear them daily as I loathe having to check my phone for the time. That is something no MAN should ever do, let alone want to do! Back to the bike! If I were 50 years younger I would happily own a BSA like this one but it would doubtless be a standard model and perhaps mildly done up with cosmetic bits to suit my taste. I don’t care for real LOUD exhausts but that is my preference. Scramblers were the most popular model of motorbike in the sixties and seventies and with good reason. Cafe racers weren’t because they were just too uncomfortable for the real world. This BSA easily makes that Honda abomination “scrambler” look like what it is - CRAP. The BSA is beautiful. Honda must’ve asked some chemically castrated morons what a scrambler looks like and took their advice. BSA annd Moore’s asked Men. Well done on this look at this Cafe’ BSA. Moore seems to do a good job and as I said, it ain’t my cup o’ tea but that doesn’t mean it’s not someone else’s preference. SS
Once you’ve seen it, it just cannot be unseen, it is truly the elephant in the room. The massive ugly radiator reminds me of the front end of a Mack truck and it completely ruins what is otherwise a really good looking machine, it would certainly stop me buying the bike. Surely someone can design a smaller more elegant after market solution as it seems the manufacturer is oblivious to the problem or perhaps they forgot to look at the bike from either front quarter before putting it on sale?
Thanks, this is my full time job. We have to make a living! UA-cam ad revenue is less than minimum wage and we split it between 2 of us. You’re more than welcome to skip the ad if it isn’t relevant to you
" none of that matters" if you're a young man, I can't see a lot of the older guy's going for the clip on café look as it's not the kindest position to be sat in on a motorcycle, although it does look much cooler than the stock look. Must be honest the radiator is still the biggest problem for the looks, I'd still prefer to buy a classic as for me it has to be air cooled to look right. I'm not even sure about the new Moto Guzzi's being water cooled , doesn't sound or look right to me.
Too cool to ride. Had a Ninja 1000R, couldn't feel my fingers after an Hr. Permanent carpal tunnel syndrome (til I got another bike) So yea no on the Cafe kit.
