How do you manage to weld the A posts without covering up the windshield, dash and gauges and steering wheel to prevent weld splatter from marking things up? The chop looks great BTW, nice cuts
Matt, I think your chop decision was a good one, it looks awesome. What color are you thinking of painting it? I would give my left huevo for a friend/partner like Jim, he is very talented as well.
2:47, they make foot operated triggers, plug into the power then your tool cord. then you don't have to worry about the trigger on the tool, just lock it to on and then use the foot trigger while you pay attention to the work. Just noticed, I was here 5 yrs ago, is this project done yet?
Looks like the doors didn't fit right to start with. No way they would fit after, plus, no tubing welded inside the joints? How were you going to get them straight??
i think we need to get Cecil6711 to send Jim some yellow safety glasses for doing cuts like that. Don't chop it! is my vote. So your not going to do a show car paint job? yea right, i know whats going to happen!
Enjoyed the talk near the end. You had me fired up! lol... Seriously, the car looks badass! All the haters that say don't chop it or talking about headroom are just pure jealous. I know I am, and I don't think you should have ever even bought that car, you didn't deserve it.
its the internet, everyone is an expert, and everyone has an opinion. just do what you enjoy. i got the same with my build! but everyone was saying put an ls in it, twin turbo they say, so i just put a 900hp 572 in it
awesome looks way better... looks like it should have in the first place... and i typed that before you said it, i type as i watch... so i knew that before you...
lol I didn't "just wreck it" This was years ago. This car was a complete hacked up POS before I got it. Ford built 4.8 million model a's Im sure there are plenty more you can save before its to late.
Bad motor, bad brakes, bad steering, bad wiring......and apparently the roof is bad now too?? I was waiting for the big lump of bondo to fall on the floor. Good job, really enjoy your vids...........
Startin to look like it should. You know Jim gets to borrow it whenever he wants right? No way you both fittin innat. Peace and good vibes from central Cali.
Chop looks like the perfect amount was taken out. It's going to be a cool car. It needs the flat head from the shoebox. Oh yeah... sticker is in the mail.
I think your opinion is a good one 👍. It looks just right....Your opinion is the only one that counts anyway, and that "be different" stuff is B.S. It should be build it how you want it... You and Jim do great work 👍👍

I want to have a professional to chop mine. I am to scared to chop the top. I don't want to be using a lot of body filler. Every thing needs to be perfected and to be done just right these cars are getting to be more expensive all the time and it's getting tougher to find a nice body that is in great shape and has most of all the important pieces.
Nice excited to see the transformation of the top. I know on my prior model A I did 3 3/4" in the front and 3" in the back to match pretty close the chassis angle while on the ground. Also got the 1928 pickup home. once I get things settled will start the videos. Know anyone with extra model A pickup parts? I have alot also that I will probably be going through. Stay tuned :)
I'm in the process of attaining a 31 five Window Coupe then I'm going to replicate the John Milner yellow Coupe from American Graffiti it's got to be chopped
I like it both ways, unchopped and chopped. But looks cooler now. I also really dig the green color and the Radirs but it would also l look awesome with steelies of course!
Don't know what you decided to do about the seats but I took apart a set of office chairs they look like bucket seats just need to custom make brackets Ann they are thin enough to set low in the car
Yea, well Edsel ford and a couple of other ford dudes were the designers of the model A. But Henry Ford, and generally Auto Company owners thought cars should be able to "Be able to have some like abraham lincoln get in and be able to sit down without taking his top hat off" lol I reckon it looks perfect height now, all other ppl don't know what they are all talkin about, ignore them..
Wow you have made a really tough job look easy! Is this the first one? I have done this and it is a total nail biter, especially on a nice car like yours! Great job!!!!!
l want to see the glass get cut with the sawzall next.
haha yes
You should of made a sleeve opening on the b pillers so you could weld the inner structure in the post for extra strength you may need in a crash.
You just won't have to roll them up as high.
Did you keep the pieces? I need to raise my top, has a 5" chop.
pretty dam fine how to vid if ya ask me !!! dont let the 30%ers bother u the 70%ers don't give a shit...we're here to learn..rock on!!!
Less yappin' Get crackin'...

That is the schnizle!
no weld window felt , use glue !
I agree with a deep channel and no chop
its the internet, everyone is an expert, and everyone has an opinion.

You just wrecked a perfectly good coupe, i hope you are happy. I know there will be no reply. Good job filming a disaster.

@@SYFGARAGE HAHAHAA ok fair call, take it easy man.

5'9... didn't know they piled it that high hahahaha. Looks great Matt. Going to be some of SYF's best work I think. Jim... put down the sawsall Lol

I'm in the process of attaining a 31 five Window Coupe then I'm going to replicate the John Milner yellow Coupe from American Graffiti it's got to be chopped
Yeah I believe it's called sectioning if I'm not mistaken not channeling I think it's sectioning but I'm not sure but I hate when they do that to bro
Don't be different, do what you like! Make it your own.
Looks bad ass chopped! And the alignment is pretty good!! It will look sweet with some kind of paint on it...
I like it both ways, unchopped and chopped. But looks cooler now. I also really dig the green color and the Radirs but it would also l look awesome with steelies of course!

The chop looks great, much more proportionate to the body now. She's starting to look really cool now.
chop came out nice , I rather the way you did it . The chops that have the front way lower than the rear I don't care for very much
I like that color that's what I want to paint mine but I would rather chop it before it gets a nice paint job like that one.
3" is perfect, I am 5'11. If the chop seems too much then lower the seat a couple of inches, you can still see over the dash.
do i need to send safty glasses and ear plugs to u today????
Yes your probably right they needed to build them for the dudes in the top hat society.
Looking awesome, I may even skip a few ranks and promote him to Sgt. Pyle
Looks really good - like the chop. Nice work.
So that's how it's done I always wondered. Nice to see you all.
glad to see more content, any more vids of the shoebox? Please update with vids of the shoe!!!
Looks great, nice fit. This has been a great Buy and Drive car.

Right amount of chop. Duck tape would have been quicker : )

ive never seen a fiberglass chop lol. ur small touches to tha car made a huge difference.
00:7 doors fitting real good........that sh*t was funny :]
they were made tall cos the roads were bumpy :P

Shop it God damn it that makes it so f****** cool it's got to be chopped
It looks great . Definitely makes the car look more lean and mean .
I'm diggin' it.
Important thing is what makes YOU smile . . . . ;) Rog
I like a regular seat don't like things that sit on the floor
I like just what you did a chop but not a radical chop
It is gonna be cool, do you know why? Cause you're cool.
nice job mate save money and just paint the top 1/2.
great work Boys and Girl...and it's cool...
It looks way better than before. 👍
Nice work on the chop Matt, looks good.
'The first cut is the deepest'.
A very lot of work for a very impressive job!
Yea, well Edsel ford and a couple of other ford dudes were the designers of the model A. But Henry Ford, and generally Auto Company owners thought cars should be able to "Be able to have some like abraham lincoln get in and be able to sit down without taking his top hat off" lol
