    I used some old car audio stereo equipment to add some music in the garage while I work. I had to make it look good though. Old Alpine headunit with two coaxial two-way speakers, complete with front AUX and USB inputs, and pockets for the remote and a phone. Completed the look with an LED lit front trim panel using car audio fabrication techniques. Powered by an old computer power supply. Possible add-ons to the stereo in future videos. Thank You for watching. Your support is appreciated.
    The Setup:
    Headunit: Alpine CDA-9886
    Speakers: Alpine SPS-100A 4" 25W RMS Coaxials
    Remote: Alpine RUE-4202
    Old Desktop Computer Power Supply
    USB/AUX Mountable Extension
    Terminal Strips & wire.

    Came across your work looking at doing a head unit in my '17 accord, however that turned out to look like Pandora's box. Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that your work is not only amazing, but inspiring. Your detail and organization are through the roof man, really. I've built a few garage sound systems with spare parts, but nothing like this. I really like the CPU power supply. Keep up the amazing work.

      Thanks a lot! I definitely take pride in (most of) the work that i do. I’ve got a few projects in the queue, but I haven’t had time to work on them. It’ll get more videos up soon. I think the maestro interfaces are compatible with the 10th gen Accords now. I may end up trying that eventually to follow up those videos. But that may be the route to go if you want to go aftermarket in your car.

    Almost 3 years later, but still looks good to me. I'm not sure I understood the magnets for LED power though. I guess a solid update could be a wireless charging pad in that cubby. Either way, good work.

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  Рік тому +2

      Thanks a lot. I kinda rushed explaining that part about the magnets. It’s basically just a quick disconnect connector made out of magnets so I can remove the front panel without having to worry about loose wires. I have a few more videos I need to edit before I can get back to the shop stereo. I’ll be adding some rear speakers in the garage and possibly a subwoofer, but that’s the next project after the next two or three videos I get posted.

      @@AyyJayy02 absolutely man. I do have a question. What do you recommend the min req. be for the power supply? I know your using a old computer power supply but what would I be looking amperage wise? Obv. I know the 12v part, but just confused when it comes to looking for amperage. My setup would look the same, but adding a Alpine type r 10” and matching amp.

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  3 роки тому

      The amp rating should be labeled on the power supply. I’ll have to double check what’s on the one that I used. Check the fuse sizes on the amp and headunit. Add those numbers together, and that would be the bare minimum number for the power supply, but you’ll want to go higher than that. I don’t think a computer power supply would cut it for an amp for a type-r though. Probably go bigger than that.

    I used self-powered speakers to avoid the power supply and associated wiring. To power the head unit, I used a standard 120VAC to 12VDC wall plug I found online for $11. Though my system is clean looking, yours is much more detailed and eye catching with a splash of bling. Nice work!

    This is very, very nice. I'm not a huge fan of the removable trim panel, I feel like I'd knock it off by accident at some point and damage it, but it isn't mine so I hope you enjoy it man, it looks great. All she's missing now is a little subwoofer to fill out the sound and that's super easy to do.

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  2 роки тому

      Thanks a lot! Trim panel should be pretty safe. It’s flush with the rest of the cabinet. A couple speaker boxes for some 6.5” speakers and a subwoofer box are in the plans. Not exactly sure when that’ll be though. Soon I hope. Just been really busy.

  • @ad4141

    This is fantastic and I love the nice neat wire layout. A pc power supply seems a bit much for the radio only but if you had it laying around who cares I guess.
    One think I would do if I were you is add a wireless charger to your phone bay connected to one of the constant 5v wires so your phone can charge too.

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  2 роки тому

      Thanks a lot. I’ll have some LEDs connected to the power supply when I finish a couple speaker boxes for it, so I can utilize it more. Looks Awesome! A wireless charging pad in the phone cubby, definitely would be a consideration. Also I get the use of the PC power supply, because you had it on hand but they produce a lot of heat and take up a lot of room. That room would be better used to place an external hard drive linked to the USB for MP3 storage. Nevertheless you did a great job.

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  Рік тому +1

    • @AyyJayy02
      @AyyJayy02  Рік тому

      Lower ohm load can reduce sound quality, but allows more power. It’s easier to get a better sound in home audio than it is car audio. There are a lot of obstacles that can ruin the sound in a car versus home audio. It just takes more work. Or so I’ve heard.
