    Thanks for posting this - the S9+ is a great phone as long as you don't take the physical fragility into account- I upgraded from an S5 Active, and now that I've replaced the back glass, it's going into an Otterbox Defender case.

      I got my S9+ just last Friday. I'm surprised these are fragile glass. It came with a tough Underarmor free case and then I got one of the tactical military grade style with the flip stand. Did you drop it and it broke like a car windshield being hit? Otterbox is a good case, but no stand to use it as a portable TV which this one has a really good magical looking video screen. It's probably the best higher end budget phone on the market at $300 for renewed in new condition on Amazon. Trying to figure out how to insert a sim to activate it and good I'm now warned it's a glass phone which just seems crazy. Good thing my case stand thing also works as something to hold with one finger while using on the go for these slim phones can easily slip out of your hand.

      mine has the fragile glass back as well, but I've dropped it hundreds of times. while its had some nicks and scratches, both the screen and the glass back have not cracked at alo

    S9 and S9+ has a glass backing that breaks EXTREMELY easy. The needed 170F to 212F is frustratingly difficult to maintain while attempting battery removal. Too hot to touch. Precision handling is worse wearing gloves. The adhesive is way stronger than these videos demonstrate. Even with removal kit, a hard focus and patience, I ended up breaking the glass. Samsung has designed this phone to break easily if handled wrong.

    I know everyone has their own experiences, but here's my take at it:
    I used a hair dryer on the LOW setting and heated the bottom half (focusing largely on the edges) so that I could get my tool in the bottom edge near the charger. I first heated for 1.5 mins, then I heated in 1 minute intervals until I was able to get the suction cup to be able to pry open enough to get my tool in there.
    After about 3.5 minutes of heating and testing, I was able to open it up enough in order to get my tool to fit in there! I put my tool in, went across the bottom edge (not the corners because they were in there good). I then used a used shaving razer to go around the edges. After I got the edges with the razer, I was able to get my prying tool around the edge and worked about halfway down the side. I noticed that it was getting tough going more than about a third of the way down (because I had only heated the top half, and it was cooling down) so I did the same for the other side and then paused.
    I then heated the top half of the phone as I did the bottom half initially, mostly around the edges but I did focus on the sides a bit as well. I worked for one iteration and got a bit done and then realized that I needed more work on the sides, so then I heated the sides for one iteration. This time I was able to get all of the way to the top edges. I heated the top edge of the phone one last time, went around the corners with my razer again, then went around the edges and through the corners with my tool and popped it open from the left-to-right while looking at the phone from the back, right-side up. The sensor connector is on the right side, connected just to the right of the LED so pulling it from left-to-right would give you the most room to disconnect it and not damage the connections.
    Good luck you all! I'm only doing this because I was going to replace my front glass and I ended up breaking my OLED/digitizer! I was impatient on the glass removal steps on that part so I knew to be much more patient this time. Now I'm taking the whole bastard apart, buying a new front OLED/digitizer w/ frame from China (best deal, gotta wait a month) and then putting it back together.

    I'm so annoyed that it has come to this point to just take off a back panel cover to a cell phone. This is so ridiculous I do not have the time to go through this nonsense especially with darn cell phones. I just wanted to know how could I get to the battery to see what was going on with my phone because it stalled from not coming on immediately. I just wanted to take the back cover off and take battery out to possibly reboot it as I've done with my other uncomplicated cell phones and now I have to go through all these annoying steps to do something of that nature. Unbelievable, oh and to the reason why they may do this to keep it waterproof, I'm not one of those careless people who can't be responsible enough to just keep the F' ing phone in position in a case or whatever they use to not allow it to get wet and yes I'm aware of accidents do happen but let me be the one to take that chance and deal with whatever may come. This is just dumb. sighsssss

    • @Simlife101
      @Simlife101 3 роки тому

      The s9 can be used under water for photos and videos so it isnt just for accidents. It is a feature for people to be able to film underwater. Do research before making stupid comments.

    The back cover is made of glass? Is this a tutorial for replacing a broken back cover from dropping the fragile phone? How do you heat it up to loosen the adhesive? Surely not microwave or hot water? I'm trying to put in a sim card and activate. I'm moving from an old Samsung Galaxy S5 to this high tech fragile, 'glass,' phone. It's got a great video screen and runs fast. Probably best budget phone with best features and specs on the market right now at just $300 for Amazon renewed which is new condition with excellent battery I just received. Anything more higher end and you're looking at $600 to $1400 which isn't necessary unless you gotta have 5G now.
