    A stylist told me that if you use "box" (calcium hydroxide) no lye relaxers you have to clarify at least twice a year because the calcium leaves a buildup. Or you should use a "purifying" shampoo meant to remove hard water buildup
    Is your relaxer lye or no lye?

      Hello! Thanks for watching.
      How is it affecting your hair? Is it overly dry/ brittle. I know people who use harsh shampoo with sulfate, and their hair is long and healthy. I personally found that the clarifying shampoos are too drying so I no longer use them at all. If you use infrequently (once a month) I don’t think you should have any issue. However I don’t think they’re necessary… and moisturizing shampoo/ conditioners are the safest.

    • @Sweetminarock38
      @Sweetminarock38 5 місяців тому

      It could be the type of clarifying shampoo that you’re using that’s not suitable for your hair tight. I use Bondi boost, clarifying shampoo, and it is very moisturizing without stripping my hair. I only do it once a month when I want a deep clean on my scalp.

    • @gracieanduze1171
      @gracieanduze1171 5 місяців тому +7

      @@Sweetminarock38 Clarifying shampoo's are meant to be used once a month primarily to deep clean your scalp especially if you use a lot of products on your hair i.e., gels, mousse, grease etc. it resets your scalp giving it a fresh start. Rule of thumb is clarifying shampoo lather 2X's rinse then use a moisturizing shampoo lather 1X rinse then always, always do a DC with heat 20-30 minutes then you should be all set with a healthy head of hair.

I haven't been since 2020 and have been trying to obtain and maintain the very healthy hair that I had. I wear updo, so there is no heat and no manipulation. I wi definitely switch up on my shampoos to see if there is a difference. Because I use Unlay and Living Proof religiously. I am thankful for those tools in my hair arsenal. Thank you very much!

      Hello! Thank you for watching I think natural hair beautiful…. It’s just A LOT of work. 😆 if its the time and energy needed to maintain natural hair that’s putting you off, maybe try and find a natural hair stylist in your area before you decide to relax. If it’s just that you prefer straight hair … maybe consider keeping with the silk press. I know a lot of naturals who just keep their hair straight.
      I love the ease of having relaxed hair but I’m assuming you went natural for a reason? I would give either of those options a chance first. Because once you do it , you’re stuck 😆 😩

    Thank you so much. I have been using all of your products that you have suggested. However, that Oloplex 3 definitely damaged my hair at the crown. I saw that you now use Moroccan Oil shampoo, conditioner and masque, in lieu of the shea moisture priducts. What do you suggest we can use that isn't as pricy? What does the edge booster do that is different from the original unlay oil? I appreciate your videos so much!

    • @IannaYvonne
      @IannaYvonne  5 місяців тому +6

      It’s pricey. I started using it again in November because my hair was breaking a bit due to heat damage. I plan to go back to Shea moisturize once I feel my hair is back to normal. I love Shea moisture. It’s one of the best drug store lines. I would continue to use Shea moisture unless you are having breakage or issues with the products themselves.
      The main difference I see in regards to the edge growth booster is that it contain rosemary oil and caster oil. Formulated specifically for accelerating growth. I just started using this. In a few week I will do a complete review and let the channel know my thoughts. I’m taking pictures along the way Hopefully it works. I could use a little more thickness along my hairline 😆 😩

    Thanks for sharing your tips. Your hair beautiful! BUT, grease helps my hair and MRS MISSISSIPPI uses it Exclusively and she is TBL. Could it be because we have natural hair? Is yours permed?

    • @IannaYvonne
      @IannaYvonne  5 місяців тому +1

      Hello. Thank you for watching. I had never seen Mrs. Mississippi Channel before so I went to check her out. 😆 Her tips are spot on. She seems to use grease on the length of her hair to “pre poo”and to lock in moisture. She does use on the scalp but recommends to use “on the scalp when it is wet” again to lock in moisture. She clearly state in her “grease for weak ends” video , that grease is NOT giving you vitamins or minerals. It’s a protectant.
      grease/ petroleum is a barrier. Amazing for locking in moisture, of the skin and hair. However nothing within the grease is able to penetrate the skin to provide any skin/scalp health benefits. It’s only locking in the moisture you ALREADY have. So the vitamin E, herbs, rosemary etc are locked in the emollient and CANNOT be used by the scalp. Rosemary is amazing for stimulating the follicle cells for growth, but it has to be absorbed in order to work. All natural hair oils ARE able to be absorbed. Same is true for tea tree oil…which is a natural antifungal and amazing for dandruff. Whether natural or relaxed, this principle is the same. It’s biology. Also because grease cannot be absorbed, you have to wash more frequently. Grease can also cause inflammation and acne in the scalp. It’s safe for use on the length of your hair but again I recommend all natural oils. For example coconut can actually penetrate the hair shaft and help with repairing dry brittle hair. Again, petroleum/grease is a barrier and only locking in whatever moisture is there. It cannot penetrate the hair shaft.
      I always recommend people to do what works for them. I’m my opinion all natural oils are the way to go. Thanks for this question!!!! It was a good one.❤️
