A little about me:
Sean Daniel is a man. A man of simple needs and desires. And the one desire, no, the one NEED, that stands above all is to spread the challenges, joy and intellectual stimulus of music to people of Earth and beyond.
Born on the mean streets of upper middle class suburban Chicago, Sean learned the ways of the world through the dizzying heights of success to the lonesome depths of failure and emerged with the promise of a better tomorrow reflecting in his eyes and fiery passion in his belly.
He plays and teaches guitar on his UA-cam channel where he regularly releases original music and projects to the adulation of legions of fans, who often compare him to Chris Pratt and one time Ryan Reynolds. He’s currently in the market for a nice leather jacket.

I remember when I was a teen everyone use to say "learn bass, it's so much easier, there are only 4 strings".I'd always answer, well they say violin is the hardest & it only has 4 strings. My dad was a jazz bassist & basically taught me it's all music, it's all how you interpret & play it. Hope all is well, take it easy
More like this, even just adding one more instrument to any lesson helps understand the concepts so much better. Watching the two of you working things out is so informative and entertaining 🤘🏼
Super fun lesson! Please do more bass
I learned guitar and bass at the same time as a teenager. I'd learn the rythym guitar part of a song, then figure out the bass part. It served me well in the long run. I had about a ten-year run of getting bass gigs in local bands, because *everybody* wants to play guitar. Know your gear, be teachable, and show up on time.
Also, what can a pizza do that a bass player can't?
Feed a family of four.
How do you get a bass player off your doorstep?
Pay them for the pizza.
Enjoyed the video! Katie rocks! 🤘🤘🤘
This was great for my 13 yr old son struggling to make sense of bass, please make more especially showing simple level progressions and different techniques to use. I watch you as a guitarist and enjoy your work. We live in Brunei and are currently in lockdown so have plenty of time to make the most of your lessons.
This is definitely helpful for beginners, teaching someone who is at a beginner/learning level, has them asking the questions we would ask, that leads to you teaching & showing how to, at a speed we the learning beginners can relate to, without you skipping steps that get us lost. It’s a brilliant way to teach guitar!! This is unprecedented. (Ok maybe it’s not that new, but it’s great 👍) more of this please!
Great teacher, and also a great student. (She who never make a mistake never makes anything. It's natural enough to feel like a mistake is "bad", but it's a really good idea to question this as if someone's seriously proposing it as some kind of rational principle of life, go for overkill in realising that "mitsake-bad" is Wrong, and then sometimes even deliberately push into the mstkiate zone just to put your whole body through the process of rejecting a fear of mistakes, by guaranteeing that you'll make some real beauties - as opposed to just mentally agreeing that mistakes are actually pretty cool, but not "walking the walk".)
Bass player is usually the worst or best musician in the band. Good ones know all the theory and the rest of them need help tuning but can always buy an eight ball in five minutes no matter where they.
Sheesh
Enjoy how you teach....this particular show was exceptional!
As a guitarist who has a bass living under the bed this might be useful, thanks
Thanks. Best lesson I have every watched
Ohh man YOU ARE THE TYPE OF TEACHER THAT IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR SINCE I STARTED ON UA-cam 10+ YEARS AGO. LOL. You just said 20yrs worth.
I started playing bass in 80s to Hair Metal music. You are so entertaining JUST TEACHING I forget your giving lessons.
Just curious do you have any band material or footage of you jamming.?

This is excellent for a beginner bass player, thank you!
Sean, this has been one of your BEST lessons for beginning guitar & bass guitar players...thanks to you both! 👍🏽👍🏻.

This was soooooo fun to watch and learn from!!! Great dynamic and real useful information. Please do some more of these, I'm just starting on bass and found this quite helpful. Great job Katie❣❣❣
The blend of bass adds new dimension to your playing good job can’t wait too see rocking
Fun lesson! Had a big smile on my face the whole time, Katie learns fast. I need to practice bass more so I enjoy these types of videos 👌

Love this video!
I was teaching my little sister to play bass and it's the best feeling when they finally start jamming and you get to watch a grin break out on their face.
Great video!!!👌
Really great lesson
Hey, that was super helpful, thank you! I googled beginner bass lessons & they were talking about how to plug it into the amp. Then I googled "how to play bass guitar for guitarists" and there you were. Immediately I picked up on the patterns & octaves. Very, very useful. My first song on bass. ❤❤
Good stuff! 😊😊😊
Awesome video, thx
Just went over to Katie's channel and played along to the song with my newfound bass skills... perfect UA-cam collab, all around!!
Cool video!! I'm just over two years into guitar. Working on jamming and impromptu lead. So I need to work on my ear with songs and backing tracks. This helps with listening to the bass part, in addition to peaking my interest in adding bass to instruments I play somewhere down the road.
I have been playing guitar a long time. I'm not great, but it is incorporated into my life. Thanks for fanning the flames of my bass curiosity! This is a great video! I really enjoyed it. She is great too! Now I need to figure how to add a bass and amp into my guitar gear without anyone noticing. That green is awesome! I'm going to dig more into your videos!
Wow, great video! Thanks for the help! :)
This was so helpful
Fun stuff
Good work💪and nice music🎵🎸✌
Greetings😀🌹👍
man your a great teacher, you take your time to explain, very patient and encouraging. I kinda took exception in a Q&A Andrea said she is self taught on piano ? or maybe it was guitar
but I seem to remember vids you teaching her drums and guitar...just sayin. Great job katie !!!!
Reminds me of Laura Lee and Mark Speer of Khruangbin. Word on the street is that Laura wanted to quit teaching school and join Mark on stage. Mark mentored Laura on bass and look at them now.
I liked it!
Ur a good teacher
The pinky talk was hilarious. :D
Katie on the bass will be so funky!
Well done Katie
she's great
Sweet 😊
Regards the little finger issue, just check out the amazing Michael Romeo of Symphony X. He has tiny hands for a guy but boy can he burn up the guitar!
Her tone singing is awesome
My guitar teacher was John Kay who played lead for Bill Haley's Comets. He told me about a gig with some other band where had to play upright bass. He knew bass guitar, but an upright it almost a different instrument. I asked him what he did and he said he play Root-5th for the entire gig. Must have been okay because he didn't get the boot.
What a cool lesson 😎. I love this!
Now I want to learn Bass… but I still am at lower intermediate on guitar! Sean, can learning Bass help us to better understand and feel Guitar? 🎸
Man I learn a lot here about how to use my bass! 👍🏿🙋🏿♂️😬
Glad it was helpful!
@@seandaniel23 I could use a video on proper positioning and holding the bass guitar, even with the strap. I am 6’ 4” and weigh 285lbs. My belly acts like it wants to make the decision how to hold the bass!🤣🤣😆😆😂🙋🏿♂️
Please more lessons. I understand your teaching better than any guitar teacher on You Tube. no offence to them. You teach at a nice pace. thank you
Do more
This vid just doubled my bass playing ability by 3
I love the smell of beginner bass lessons in the morning. Smells like, victory
You have to be related to the late and great Lawrence Welk!
Yes more give bass a chance too
Damn! I thought we were going fishing for smallmouth 🎣
I like big bass and I can not lie. :)
This is also the chord progression for The Adults Are Talking by The Strokes
It's all about that Bass! Cheers Sean and Katie!!
Just a little less goofing around but this was good!
Dude turned Italian half way though-ah.
Great video except for the pinky hating! Thanks for posting
I always remember that there are probably a million better guitarists than me in the UK alone.
Always pearls to gather here.
Thanks for watching Peter!
Let's get physical sounded like the sample on the base
You were never condescending or trying to out shine her you were also patient
This video is perfect for my pinky fetish
Saw a quote from Hendrix once where he essentially said - "If I was more talented/a better musician I would've been a bass player instead." I can't remember exactly where I saw it but might have been in a Jaco doc. Says a lot coming from him.
Any strawberry fields update?
Cute.
You sounded like a grandpa to a cute granddaughter daughter
Bruh is that PewDiePie?
Girl is hot sean
Pointing out the obvious bro 😂
Be a little more subtle and compliment a woman directly. You should delete this comment kid.
I don't really like the slides. It sounds like the bass is farting.
