LIKE & SUBSCRIBE ❤ Thanks for watching ☺️ are you trying the NDW100? Let me know and I’ll come out to support you next time!
Congrats on finishing the race, very well done 🎉😅
Good old mums, no matter how old we get we can't do without them ❤️
Absolutely right! ❤️
The last few minutes of your vlog shows true raw passion of the ultrarunner being alone with themselves then seeing that line.....whether there were a thousand spectators or just your mother there to say well done, the happiness inside you must have been ready to burst out....super effort, top vid!
Thanks Neil 👍 there was definitely a bit of self reflection going on in those last miles 😂 cheers for watching
Just taken time to watch this video end to end. Mike what a hero 🦸♀️. You are such a great inspiration for all of us who are. or have, suffered from mental health issues. Great cause, great video, great man. Proud to have you as my nephew. Big hugs. 🥰
Thanks so much for watching Pete ❤️ really appreciated. Much love x
I am so exceptionally proud of you and this video is nothing short of phenomenal. Emotional, heartwarming and the epitome of grit and determination. Much love 💚
Thanks Dan, that’s really appreciated. Thanks for sharing it too 👍👍 all the very best ❤️
Well done Mike. I have been following your journey...impressive. Really felt your points about mental health and many of us have been there and running does help for sure. Cool that you caught up with Craig Tries and others along this particular journey. Thanks for allowing us to enter your world and well done on a huge accomplishment.
Thank you Shaun, really appreciated 🙏👍
Making it to the end of NDW100 is something I have never done, so congratulations on that! It's definitely not the easiest of the Centurion races. Maybe bump into you on a trail somewhere.
Thanks Stephen, really appreciated! Typically now I’ve done it, I want to do it again but quicker 😂 love the channel and keep up the good work. Definitely hope to meet you soon 👍👍 all the best
Well done Mike! Lovely to see Caterham Viewpoint featured! And of course your mad mother🤪You are inspirational!
Hi Sue!! Thank you that’s really kind of you to say ❤️ thanks for watching!! hope you and the family are doing well x
I was looking forward to this video. I am going to comment as I am watching. By the way that flat section where everyone was running together and you said you would feel like a muppet would be a great opportunity to chat to people. That's what I tend to do in the beginning of the race where a lot of people are still together.
Great film Mike!
Thanks Chris!
Dude that was amazing. Well done on finishing! Really enjoyed your honesty about everything especially mental health. Made my day
Thanks mate that’s really generous of you 💪🏼👍 glad you enjoyed
I really enjoyed watching this Mike. Really well done on a brilliant effort. I’ve got the Thames path 100k to navigate in September - my first ever ultra. So far my furthest run is 24k. Two marathons in the spring then slowly upping the training for September. I’m really excited!!
Thank you Conrad I appreciate the feedback 👍 good luck with the TP100k - I’ve been tempted by that myself to be honest! Whatever happens enjoy the adventure and achievement of travelling such a long way 💪🏼👍 all the best
Absolutely loved this! Such a well produced account of your adventure - congratulations on a great race, and thanks for sharing it with us all. The conditions were sooo different to when I ran it last year!
Thanks for watching James! I must have watched your NDW 2021 video about 25 times before I ran it this year 😂 great effort and time mate. Something for me to aspire to I think! All the best 💪🏼
Hah thanks pal - maybe we can run one of these together some day!
Brilliant video Mike! Captures both the highs and lows of your experience. Thank you for sharing and congratulations!
Thanks Louis for watching! Much appreciated
That was f'n great watch. Fair Play Mike, hugely impressive. Well Done.
Cheers Lewis, much appreciated 👍
Great video Mike! Was lovely to go back and re-live the day of the race 👌
Cheers Fin and well done on your finish 💪🏼 smashed it 🔥
Superbly done mate! Really interesting seeing the race from your perspective, looks like you really enjoyed it. Good to meet and chat with you after Newlands Corner! I also struggled during the night but was very happy when the sun came up, constantly looking at the floor in the dark really saps your energy. Nicely edited as well. Best of luck with Arc 🥊👌
Thanks Craig - great to meet you too. Gave me a boost to chat on our way through the woods 👍 the night was so hard. It’s a sign of how hard it is when you think a nearby log looks like a comfortable bed for 40 winks 😂 cheers buddy, keep up the good work 👍
Mate your incredible, very very inspirational, please do keep the content coming, iv done the ndw50 and you sir have definitely stirred the fire in my belly watching this.. Bravo pal 👏👏👍👍 this winter im deffo getting in those longer runs thanks to you 👌
Thanks Brian that means a lot! Really appreciated. I’m doing the NDW50 next year - it was such a good route and it finishes about 3 miles from my home so it’s ideal! Good luck with your training dude 👍
Been away for a week and finally watched your video (thanks for the shout out 🙂). Expertly put together again and a delight to watch - even though my memories of the race are painful (handed my number in shortly after you left Knockholt). Really pleased for you that you finished (tracked you to the end anyway) and also inspired by your story regarding your attachment to the trail. Good luck for the Arc.
Thanks Ian and well done again for getting to knockholt with your injury, that was true grit mate. Great to meet you and hopefully see you again at another (shorter) race 😂
Planning on the Shere 42k next. Fabulous route. Plenty of the GTR guys will be there. 👍🏻
Good luck!! I was hoping to do that but I’m on holiday sadly. Next time 💪🏼
Great video! Thanks for taking us with you 😀
Thanks for watching! 👍
Great job! The video was great too!
Thanks so much for watching! 👍
What can I say?! Wow! What a video! 🤯 You absolutely smashed it mate! So inspiring! 👏 Great comment about the rationale of the 2 marathons done 2 marathons to go 🤣 You are an absolute hero Mike 😎🤘Glad you got to meet some amazing people like Danielle, Ian and Michael. Thank you for the mention dude I really appreciate it too. 🙏
Thanks Ben, great to see you out supporting - gave me a boost! 💪🏼👍 all the best buddy
Thanks for making this video. You are a true inspiration.
Thanks for watching Lee 💪🏼👍
Huge congratulations on both this amazing achievement and video! We can tell that doing this race meant a lot to you and having such a strong "why" must have helped you carry on when it was tough at night. Those early morning views with the sun rising were beautiful. I hope your legs are recovering nicely!
Thanks Chloe, really appreciated. It was a rollercoaster for sure! Great work with your half marathon training - I’m enjoying your training series 👍👍
Well done Mike!!!!! What a great video. :-) Thanks also for your honesty along the way.( I was struggling to hold in the tears myself as I finished.) It was lovely to see your parents meeting you along the way so that they could share some of it with you.. After about 40KM I jarred my hip and that put paid to me hiking quick up hills which is what I am normally strong at. The heat was sapping. I could not manage to run the last lap myself and walked in last of the finishers, completely spent. Like you I am delighted I finished. I said never again afterwards but now a week later I have changed my mind.........great to relive the experience through your video. :-)
Well done Ray!! Amazing work getting to the end, especially with a jarred hip! Goodness. Hope you’re recovering well. I’m impressed that you’re thinking of doing it again next year, I think I might need to reflect a bit more first 😂 all the best and thanks for watching 👍
@@30somethingmike , thanks Mike. I am back running again and can feel the strength in the legs. ;-) I shall look forward to following your progress here and on IG. 🙂
Absolutely amazing Mike. This is a beautifully made video and had us gripped throughout.
So much beauty in there.
Thanks so much guys that’s really kind of you. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed! All the best
Well done, not just in the race, but in producing such a beautiful video ! Rough conditions can crush us or bring out our best! Well done! Keep pushing my friend!
Thank you Paul 👍 really grateful for you watching and leaving such positive feedback! All the very best
Such an amazing job for such a great cause. Congratulations. And a beautiful video as well. And your mom was so sweet, such a proud mama! Thanks for all your work.
Thanks so much for watching! Very kind 👍
Congratulations, that was an incredibly tough day but you kept moving forward to get it done. It's a huge achievement. Well done.
And you Tom - sub 24 is seriously impressive, I actually don’t know how anyone could have done that 👍💪🏼 good to see you briefly on the course. Here’s to the next one!! 👍
What an amazing video. Insta-sub 👍🏻
Awesome thanks Paul!
Amazing achievement Mike, well done 👏🏻👏🏻🎉
Cheers Chris 👍💪🏼
I’ve just found your channel 🎉 awesome work! This video and your accomplishment is truly amazing!
Thanks Ethan! Really appreciate that. All the best 💪🏼
That is amazing and unbelievably impressive, well done. Loved the video as well and appreciate your honesty about mental health. Super effort when's the next one?
Thanks Michael! Appreciate the feedback. Next one… TBC - definitely keen to try something else now!!
Don't know how you managed to not go in that pub at halfway Mike! What an epic run and for such a good cause. Thanks for sharing your personal story too. So cool to have your parents there to support you as well. Congrats mate, superb achievement and beautifully captured too 👌🎉
Thanks dude - me neither!! 😂 fear not, some kind soul gave me Prosecco at the finish line! Thanks for watching mate 👍
Thanks dude - me neither!! 😂 fear not, some kind soul gave me Prosecco at the finish line! Thanks for watching mate 👍
Well done mate. I DNF’d in 2020 and it’s really inspiring to see you ploughing through the pain cave. Will try again next year!
Thanks Kevin much appreciated! Good luck with the 2023 attempt! I’m sorely tempted to try again too but will have to think about it 💪🏼😝
My first attempt coming up this year. First go at anything over 50 miles. Equally excited and terrified!
That’s a healthy approach I think John! Good luck with the training - the race is the payoff for all the hard work 👍👍😁
And I literally just realised that you'd have spoken to me on this race! 🤣I was seeing everyone across the road at the top of Botley Hill
Congratulations Mike. Enjoyed every minute of your video and what an achievement! You survived the lows and got to that finish. It looks like a brutal route with constantly going up and down. Lovely to hear you chatting and your thoughts, feelings and reasons along the way.
I hate that ‘the race has just started and I have to speak to the camera but everywhere is silent’ and wait it out too sometimes 😂
Hope you do a post race video now you’ve had a bit of time to think about what you achieved and how it went.
Very envious of your buckle. At one point I will purely chose a 100 race just so I can hold one as my medal 🏅
Well done Mike 😊
Thanks so much for watching and commenting Rachel. It was a tough course, though the views are spectacular and Centurion did an amazing job from start to finish. I’m sure you’ll get the buckle one day - you’re smashing it! All the best 💪🏼👍
This is inspirational. Such a gritty performance in oppressive conditions, and the video is top class, as expected. Well done, Mike 👍🏻👍🏻 I'm almost inspired to change my name to 40somethingmark in honour of your achievement 😁😎 I think the sunglasses look cool, but then I'm not one to talk on such matters lol. Hope your recovery is going well.
Aw thanks Mark, that would be the highest honour from my perspective! Haha thanks re the glasses. I have such a large head it’s tricky to find some that fit 😂 keep up the good work mate
Surely popping into the vineyard for a glass of wine should be one of the obligatory stages of the race!!!! What an absolutely awesome achievement Mike, bloody hell 160km is just insane!!! And an absolutely awesome video... you obviously put a lot of work into both!! Truly inspirational!! I got all teary-eyed!! And thanks to Dan Runs for sending us over here to check it out!!
Thanks so much Bev! Really kind words and much appreciated. Sadly I didn’t manage to get a glass of vino but don’t worry, I’ve had several since 👍😂 all the best
@@30somethingmike 😂I bet!! Dan tells me he taught you everything you know!! 😂😂
He’s the oracle for sure
Mammoth achievement, Mike! Huge respect to you!
Thanks so much Olga - much appreciated! Thanks for watching
Awesome mom and dad! Congrats!
Thanks! Haha yeah they’re pretty great 👍👍
Great video. Extremely well done. Good effort 👍🍷
Thanks Emlyn much appreciated 👍
one word sir - bravo
Thanks! 👍💪🏼
Mike, so much to say! Just wow! Firstly, congratulations on completing it, you ran an amazing run and captured a wave of emotions. Secondly, thank you for opening up about your experiences with mental health- I think we need to see more of this within society and especially from us men, I myself have been struggling recently and can empathise with the power of running. On that note, the apologies for your raw emotion were unnecessary, I think I echo many people in saying you can feel the emotion in the video.
Finally, I am rambling now but your journey and video was just great, you’ve produced another top class video for UA-cam!
Take care, recover well and I’ll see you at NDW50 next year! :) much love.
Thanks so much for watching and the feedback mate. Sorry to hear about your own mental health struggles - hope you’re ok. Running definitely helped me as well as talking to someone about it 👍👍 yes definitely see you at the NDW50! All the very best 🔥
Great job. Spoke with you briefly at Dunn Street. Had no doubt you'd finish, and was glad to have seen you... 💪
I remember! Thanks Carl for doing an awesome job. I imagine that aid station was a life saver for quite a few people 👍 great to meet you
Well done Mike it was so tough wasn’t it? You were amazing 🤩 So good to meet you at Dunn Street and the finish. My goodness those last few miles were just about survival in the heat. To have filmed the journey in the manner you did was fabulous. Thank you 🙏
Thanks Michael! You too! So glad I managed to bump into you at Dunn Street. Hope you’re recovering well 👍 all the very best
So tired all week 🥱 Managed work but totally wrecked every evening. First run yesterday and absolutely pooped since 😂
Great video, and amazing achievement!! Maybe I’ll take it on one day 🤔
Thanks mate - it is astounding to be honest, though quite a long way it turns out 😂
Well done with your half marathons - that’s a great thing to be doing. Keep up the good work 💪🏼
Very nice vid Mike- thank you 🙂 I did it last year in a similar time but totally diff experience, nearly ended up with trench foot!! Very well done sir- wear the buckle with pride…
Thanks Graham and well done for completing it last year, I saw the weather on race day and it looked horrendous! Thanks for watching 👍
Absolutely amazing achievement Mike! I loved that your parents made it into the video after seeing they had met you at the aid stations 😄 World’s biggest well done to you my friend 👏👏👏
Thanks TJ so much for your support and sponsorship too! Yes my parents were fantastic - if you need supporters for the Manchester race, I’ll draft them in! 😂
@@30somethingmike I’m always up for adding cheer squad members 😆 it would make the day truly special!
Nice video, thanks
Thanks for watching!
Great stuff Mike, good chatting with you at Reigate Hill. Well done for getting around, it’s a tough course that.
Great to meet you Ron and well done again. What a day!! Same time next year? 😂
Lol! Next year sounds good to me! 🤣😂😂
Congratulations on your 100miles
Must remember tictacs and not to run with 2 litres of water . My first 100 is October Centurion Autumn 100 . Great video congrats again
Thanks Michelle and glad it was helpful. Good luck at the A100 - it’s supposed to be a fantastic race!
Yes Mike!
Oh yes Dan!
@@30somethingmike Excellent drone footage. Next time you need to film with it the whole way...
😂 or get a lift…
Great video Mike and well done on finishing. That was sooo tough. Hopefully we'll see each other again at another ultra when we're capable of holding a conversation! (We were running through Detling together)
Yes hopefully Carl and thank you! Well done to you too mate. I think I was in the depths of hell at that point so just seeing someone to run with was incredibly helpful!! Hopefully catch you soon 👍👍
@@30somethingmike ...yes, the Detling part in particular was quite brutal! Hope to meet up with you at another run soon - keep up the great work with the videos
Hey Mike nice 👌 video. well done for getting the 100 done ✔️ tough old race eh!
Thanks Adam - I’m a big fan of your channel and what you’ve accomplished is awesome. Appreciate you watching and commenting! 💪🏼 I need to take a leaf out of your book now and start to try and get faster / competitive! 👍
@@30somethingmike if your ever looking for a coach - give me a shout. Looking forward to see how you progress. What’s the next challenge?
@@ultrarunneradam thanks Adam I might just take you up on that one day! I’m going to work on my general fitness and weight for a bit, but next event is the London Ultra 55k in October. Also entered the NDW50 and SDW50 next year as well as Brighton Marathon. Focus will be on the shorter (sub50) distances for a bit I think 👍 keep smashing it mate
Well done, nice work on the vlog too. I did the 50 this year, fiddly track and quite hard work at times. at no point did I find myself thinking, yes, must do another 53 miles on this trail! And yet, I find now that I'm committed to doing the 💯 grand slam next year. How did that happen?
Haha yes that will happen - it’s easy to get hooked. That will be amazing! I had considered doing the same to be honest. I’ll be doing the NDW50 next year as I think that was the best half of the course 👍👍 all the best with your training Jonathan!!
Watching your ultra videos makes me want to do one. Which is strange because I don't. 🤣
Haha I’ll take that 😂
Congratulations! You always remember your first 100, until you don't really and sign up for another😂
Haha yes you’re so right. I promised myself “never again” at around 80 miles… let’s see 😳
@@30somethingmike maybe for the next one, You may want to reconsider the “I am going to bank in miles whilst it’s still cool” race strategy.🤣🤣
There you go, reason to sign up again. 💪🏼
wow. Phenomenal effort mate. Tell me, what got you through those dark moments when you felt like giving up?
Thanks Phil! I am quite stubborn, so that played into it a bit. Mostly though it’s because I was raising money for Mind and wanted to get to the end 👍
@@30somethingmike An excellent charity. I must remember to run for a charity when I take on my first 100 miler! No plans yet mind you!
My 5th time here 💙
Welcome back ❤️ if you spot the mistake you get a prize
@@30somethingmike I didn't notice any mistakes mate 🤣 I have seen this video 4 times before but for some reason you had me choked up this time when you talked about your struggles last year.....and I knew it was coming.....very odd 🤣
Excellent video. Can you post a link for those shades?
Thanks! They’re called DHB Clark Revo and I got them from wiggle online. They were quite cheap and I got them because I left my others in Newcastle somewhere 🤦🏻♂️ they were pretty good though
Great stuff! Really well edited. This one is on my list after suffering through the SDW100 last year (check out my video for 'suffering'). I've seen lots of videos on the NDW but yours is pretty comprehensive and additional distance, timings, elevation maps you add to the screen are really useful. Thanks and well done!
Thanks! Glad to hear I’m not the only one suffering 😂 I’ll check out your video, I’m doing the SDW50 next year so I’ll be interested to see for sure 👍 thanks for watching!
