Such maturity. I hear a lot of young pianists in Berlin. Rarely are their ideas this worked out. Best of luck in 2024. Hope to see Poon more out and about. She deserves all the recognition the public can give her.
I think this is the best performance I have heard of Tiffany Poon. She really nailed this one. It was riveting, moving, well executed, I never stopped listening. She captured me for the entire performance.
I don’t know what is exactly, but when I hear the music of Robert Schumann, it moves every time, especially when it is played in the way Tiffany does. I have the strong feeling that she understands Schumann’s music. Everything is there: extreme joy, deep melancholy, clarity and above all love for his music and his personality.
Brilliant playing! I studied the Davidsbündlertänzer years ago, but I never dared to perform the whole work in convert, only excerpts. I found some pieces very difficult, such number 6. The left hand passages are ridiculously hard to play well at speed. Tiffany plays with amazing virtuosity and never sounds artificial or over the top.
Some wonderful playing here. What I like about her interpretations of Schumann's work is that she keeps it simple and straightforward with very little, if any, affectation while bringing out the beauty, tenderness and exuberance in his music.
Terrifyingly romantic and a moving experience, surpassing angry, emotional and technical performances. Almost as though I was there with you feeling the emotions of the music for a brief moment. Very heartening to see the audience full in the venue. You look tremendously succesful.
This was a fabulous performance! The variegated touch and tone, delicate nuance, super clarity, phrasing and pedaling, held me spellbound throughout this inspired performance. Despite her youth, this was a mature artist at work! Brava, Tiffany! Brava indeed! 👏💝🎶💯
Absolutely beautiful Tiffany! I loved the tempi and the wonderfully expressive playing. Best Regards. Thanks to DW Classical for the explanation of the Davidsbündler.
Tiffany, when you are good you are the best. Charming, beautyful and catching - just like yourself - playing of some genious music here. I can listen that again without bored one second
Tiffany possessed the power of conveying attraction through the potency of her music. So we see the fairy waving her wand while the audience listening spellbound and motionless. What a truly remarkable pianist!
Helping to put Dresden ' back on the map '. Famous for it's association with J S Bach and the finest arts and church music. Tiffany looks tremendous as she leaves the piano at the end of her performance !
Tiffany brings a feminine touch to Schumann's pieces as if approaching from the viewpoint of Clara Schumann. She has affinity to this composer and is very good; but I will be sticking to Arrau, Kempff, Lupu, Cortot's recordings.
I want to support Tiffany and buy her Schumann album. I don`t want anymore CDs (I have 500 in the basement). I assume I can buy streaming rights. What sservices are best? Mostly, I will play through my PC. Does Tiffany get royalties on streams?
What a beautiful concert Tiffany !!!! But the public is so ugly and lazy…They didn’t Even stand for ovation ! Where they Come from ? Do they Even realize we she just played !!! A masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!
To be fair this crowd has probably heard the pieces a thousand times in their lifetimes especially as they clearly have the ability and time to travel and hear them live. Many pieces of music never get old but reactions can certainly change over time
Too percussive. To say she nailed it is an understatement. I did not realize Schumann alter egos are also 'harsh and too fast.' She can learn and discover from Carter Johnson's range and performance and let Schumann's genius, intellect and many manic moods take your breathe away (from romantic, witty and insanity)and sing with full tones and musical lines. She's got the technique no doubt.
Sorry, the music and its harmonies are completely lost in this interpretation, e.g. in No. 6, which is played far too quickly and completely rushed. The character is lost. Take a masterclass with Andras Schiff or Delphine Lizé, who plays this piece quite magically. No. 8 is also terrible, you almost don't hear the dissonances that make this dance so incredibly exciting.
You are a bit high-pitched in critique; you prefer a different interpretation, which is fine for you. But perusing the score, Tiffany does fine; no masterclass necessary...i
@@bloodgrss Her style is simply the competition unity style, in which the music of different composers all sounds the same. If you have the scores, have a look, e.g. in No. 6: the dynamics go from p (at the beginning, I don't hear it, it starts mf) to fff (I don't hear it either, no drama either, it's simply not possible at the tempo at which she chases it down). Have a look at Andras Schiff's masterclass on the piece here on UA-cam, you'll find out what's in No. 6 on the part of the composer.
I admire Schiff, but he lacks any strong pianistic voice; his Mozart concertos with Vegh are among the best, but most critical assessment would have voted for a more characterful pianist for example. You laud him; so be it. As far as sticking most strictly to your interpretation of the score and her tempo choices, to each his own. I am not advocating for Poon, but it seems to me her play is far from 'competition unity style', a rather unnecessary ad hominem somewhat irrelevant and biased. Schiff has been accused of such in some of his play. As for performances of the Davidsbündlertänze, of the more modern pianists, I prefer Murray Perahia. In following the score with him there are choices you would seemingly decry too; what can we say?@@bodogreiner1536
To be honest, the interpretation lacks deepness, contrast. It felt like dancing on eggshells. I always thought of Schumann music as very dramatic and full of contrast
She makes that piece sound so alive and colourful

My favorite pianist
I cried from the beginning seeing her there … it’s so touching and she deserves more and we don’t deserve her 😢
What an elegant interpretation! Thank you!
She loves Schumann, she special visited Schumann hometown, she has very deep study for the music of this great Pianist.
Very expressive, pronounced -- which makes the pieces speak. Good to see you on stage. It is your world... 😊

Merci pour ces pages si variées , tendresse

Its very original interpretation and I like it. Very artistic. well done
I have not had such a life created for me in a very long time. I thank you very much for letting me breathe once more.
Questionable

Schön, dass das Palais wieder Instand gesetzt wurde, ein würdiger Rahmen.
I’ve seen clips of her preparing for this on her own channel, nice to see the full performance now
This recording is not on Poon’s own channel. Almost missed it. Bravo!

#10 & 11!
J'aime beaucoup :)
Quite a feat of memory…. Couldn’t remember the order, much less the pieces themselves.

Streaming is like UA-cam. I get 1,50 € for 1000 clicks 😉

Mono sound is very bad think against enjoy this great music of Schumann.
uploaded in mono sound :(
Wish their sound was better too? Where the mics too far?
You are right. The audio on this upload is a monophonic disaster. 🎤🎹🙉
guter Vortrag - wenn sie nur nicht so affektiert auftreten würde

Harsh, ugly mono audio. Why don’t we get state-of-the-art stereo sound? 😩🎹
Sorry but no depth or composers intent. Just robotically pressing the notes
Agree with you! She doesn't understand a note of what she's playing
Two pompous and pretentious peas in a pod...@@hanson1710

The young lady plays one note at a time, never does she achieve a musical line.
Quite boring pieces
maybe they arent played that interestingly... :/
