      What you saw with the woman claiming 100,000 mutilations and her prep and then methods is how some are continuing this practice currently. In times past, it was something I don't believe many people could witness.
      No anesthetic, any sharp instrument will do, the child is not anesthesised in any way, nothing for pain, no sedation of any kind, - and most 'traditional' of all, - the poor thrashing and screaming child is simply held down by as many 'humanists' as is needed. Then the devotee of human rights with filthy hands slowly begins to cut and then slice away anything and everything even resembling normal anatomy, - all on a dirt floor. Is this religion ? - or is it simply tradition, peer pressure ? - No, I must be very closed minded - naturally,
      it's just their culture. "It's a rite of passage; - it's just the way it's always been". Fabulous answer 😐. I must be an enemy of Anthropology I guess. It rather sounds to me like very sad depravity of the first order. 'Ethnocentrism' - I'm glad I've a strong stomach.

    Any man who honestly believes a woman being cut, and having a decrease in sexual desire, makes her more "appealing" sounds like a sick predator. You mean to tell me these "men" would rather be with a woman who has little to no desire to sleep with them (and will likely be in pain doing so) than with a woman who wants to sleep with them? Yuck.

    In 1983 a very dear friend of mine from Ghana came to my home. To make a little extra money, she sold bread every Friday, delicious white bread, we bought two loaves a week. We lived in university family housing, it was multicultural.
    She was visibly upset. I asked her in and she sat down and burst into tears. It was shocking, the only emotion she ever conveyed was joy, she was the most positive person I had met up to then. When she came to America with her husband to get his degree, she left 9 of her 11 children in Ghana, they were older teens or married. She told me her young daughter was in love and the man's family wouldn't allow the marriage without circumcision. I had no idea what she was talking about. She explained it to me through sobs. She didn't want her daughter to do it but wasn't there to fight for her.
    It was the first time I heard of FGM.
    I still tear up when I think of her pain, she said it had been done to her and made her life miserable. She fought for her daughters not to have it done.

Basically, in this documentary there is a young man saying the tradition is more important to him, than the fact that very tradition is hurting women. It's complete and utter nonsense, and I think he and others like him are being purely selfish. One of the biggest differences is male circumcision has medical benefits... it helps prevent urinary tract infections, plus, stricture of the foreskin... it can also help prevent infections being passed to the female sexual partner (yeast infection) There aren’t usually any long term negative medical consequences with male circumcision as with female circumcision. Also, males are usually circumcised at 2-3 days of age... the nerves are not totally formed yet, and it is not as painful compared to having it done at an older age.
      It is not medically necessary for a male to be circumcised, but it can prevent later problems from developing.

      @Annelie_perhonen5 Рік тому

      @@kaiwestbrook5150 Yes, I think both cutting boys and girls is wrong unless there are serious medical reasons, but you have to seriously also keep in mind fgm is done SOLELY to make girls not feel pleasure, and to even make intimate affairs painful for them "to prevent them from having the desire to have extra marital affairs", so common sense dictates certainly much more is being chopped off from them, since preventing boys from feeling pleasure the same way would be instantly frowned upon and men would quickly forbid their pleasure from being ruined by such practices... . So if you aren't a troll, can you at least try to have it in your heart to try to understand, it's the equivalent of completely chopping off your "man part" and you bleeding out from it and then being expected to have frequent, ongoing painfull marital intercourse with the same mutilated painfull man part because of nerve damage and the inability to be turned on and the actual nonexistency of said "man part". Maybe you can imagine or perhaps it's all the same to you, when a girl can't be turned on because of mutilation, "making love" if you can call it that, is going to allways be painfull for her. Please at least have the decency to go discuss to a video about mgm or male circumcision and stop belittling female genital mutilation. May I remind you the topic here in this video is in reality, actually fgm. It's like the equivalent of you going to a video about cancer, shouting "Well what about diabetes, we should also discuss that here and compare it to cancer, it's so wrong we aren't discussing both." Honestly, I feel like in every issue women try to discuss, some men are there to belittle and compare problems and say "We should steer the attention from womens problems to men's problems, we can't possibly try to be humane and have some empathy for women, no we absolutely must belittle their problems in some way, shape or form"... It's no wonder there was a study done where it was revealed women without a husband live longer.... I was wondering about that but I wonder no more😓
