The Girls Who Fled To Syria: Groomed By The Islamic State
Вставка
- Опубліковано 25 лис 2024
- In February 2015, three teenage schoolgirls left the comfort of their homes in East London and traveled to Syria to join the self-styled Islamic State (IS). Around 60 women and girls are thought to have made the same journey from Britain.
The story of their disappearance dominated the UK press for weeks and the blame game inevitably began to hunt out whose fault it was. When the families of Amira Abase, Shamima Begum, and Kadiza Sultana found out that the police had been interviewing the trio about another girl from their school who had already joined IS, the case was picked up for investigation by the government. But soon certain sections of the press would turn on the families themselves.
VICE News gained intimate access to the father of one girl, Amira, and joined him as he dealt with the press and parliament to find out what it's like for those left behind by the tragic choices of their loved ones.

I haven't really read much into this story, but a question for my UK friends. How does a minor leave the country without her parents permission?
You have to remember that although these are 'minors' and, I really fucking hate the fact that they called them this, 'children' they are old enough to smoke tobacco, ride motorbikes, have sex etc so are really just young adults, not fucking children... they knew damn well what they were getting themselves in to and shouldn't be let off free... But parents permission? They aren't 10. All they had to do was put a few clothes in a backpack, get a cab to the airport and catch the flight.. I want to know how the hell they, and many others, get from Turkey to IS held territory when all roads/passages should be completely shut off..
ThaGamer dude. My 17 year old cousin needed a parental permission from her dad to travel with her mom from Switzerland to Canada. Same with my sister who traveled from Canada to the US with a friend. Unless the UK lets anyone over 5 feet tall with a passport leave the country I don't really get how they could have simply taken a flight to a foreign country. Unless they had all the required paperwork.
But i kinda agree. The girls knew what they were doing.
Dude she had her passport by herself and not her mom keeping it
Ryan Maynard But they flew from Gatwick airport, not by bus.
ThaGamer I agree with you, except that I hold their parents largely responsible for how they were raised as well.
I still dont understand how a 15 year old can fly internationally without their parents permission.
Apparently she used her sister's passport. Not sure if that's true but it's one theory going around

@@salmaamer9778 Children are born innocent until they are taught at home to see others from a different faith as NIJIS (Filthy to the core in Arabic), hence worthy of rejection. This alone speaks volumes about the faith & burdens a child's emotional stability when it come to interacting with others with love, sincerity and acceptance. It is a burden because as the child grows up, he/she will be in a daily battle between their God given conscience & their duty to what their religion expects from them. I am sure you know what I am talking about and may have experienced it yourself. The jihadists have their conscience totally switched off as with these girls as a duty to their god.

Clearly you should take some time to read about what grooming is and how it works. Whether it’s Isis or the alt-right or sex trafficking or whatever type of cults...it rarely is about the religion or the values of the group they claim to stand for. People join these organisations because they are insecure, they want to belong somewhere and feel valued. The recruiters of these groups are good at finding vulnerable people and making them feel special and like the group needs them. Teenagers are often the perfect demographic to find gullible and easily manipulated people. I would be shocked and disappointed if someone I know joined a group like Isis, but yeah, if they are as young as those girls, I’d blame the recruiters first.

Manuel R - She’s from England, not the US. And I completely disagree. The treatment of these girls should be the exact same treatment that the Allied forces and Nuremberg gave women back in the mid-1940’s who were married to 3rd Reich military men.
Yes, I realize they left their country but they weren’t leaving their country to become terrorists. They weren’t leaving their country because they hated the UK. They were told that they could come check out this amazing place, “an Islamic Disneyland” that was the closest thing to paradise here on earth. They were told if they liked it, they could stay and become a bride of heroic, chivalrous patriot. And they were told they would please God and become so close to him - that this was a test of their commitment and love for him.
These girls were recruited in the same way cults recruit people. But it was also so romanticized. They were groomed in the same way a coach or teacher grooms a 15 year old student.
And, yes, the rhetoric of ISIS is bonkers, but so is the rhetoric of white nationalists. But rhetoric isn’t illegal. Marrying isn’t illegal. If they committed a crime, then they must answer for it. But if they didn’t, they should be de-programmed and brought home.

Teenagers are so vulnerable to scams and lies. Even grown people can get scammed and make mistakes. Think of the easily impressionable teenagers. It's so important that people educate the young with what's happening in the world
do you want to become a terrorist and help kill and oppress others, live without electricity and without medicine, rarely having contact with your loved ones or do you want to watch tv, have money for what ever you need and live in a nice home.
seems like an easy choice. a choice even a stupid/impressionable teenager can make
@@thisguyrighthere3 that's what the average person would think, but having a barely twenty year old little sister, who is not only extremely impressionable and gullible but have been scammed out of thousands before, I can safely say that she would rather choose to leave the comforts of her home to starve, pinch pennies, live with strangers, all to hang with her "friends" (and also study her art course but she's on the verge of giving up) she also spends way more than she needs to because she sponsors her broke friend, and she's making more and more bad choices like deciding to live out of the hostel which would cost twice more and all so that she can live with her friend, and it's not even for her bf who is overseas. We came from a bankrupted family and she could have studied her course at home but doesn't want to, I understand of wanting to be independent but it's not very independent when you expect your parent to pay thousands for your charity.
She's always been on the dim side but I've only recently found out how much money my mom's been giving her and I'm about to give the biggest lecture in my life on money. Anyway, mind you this is all for friends, can you imagine if it was her bf that was enticing her to travel to where he was and with their religion to boot his brainwashing? She'd probably be gone right now. My parents have never hit us, never been strict about grades with us, and only ask us to help out with housework occasionally, and that's already making my sister feel depressed and suffocating here. Can you just imagine kids from strict families and how willing they would just throw away every comfort they have because of their desire to get away or pursue love? I'm able to sympathize with them. And being able to sympathize with kids is one of the first step to getting them to change their mind of being adamant about leaving for stupid reasons. To them, leaving is the easy choice after "suffering" for almost two decades. They just need to know it's the wrong choice and there are other options.
It starts at home though. Parents don’t raise ignorant children. Seriously you never talked to your kids about life? If those women were really patriotic they would never have left to a country that is at war. Get a grip. Oh have no sympathy no one kidnapped those women they are just women that do not think about the consequences absolutely no critical thinking going on in their brain. It’s not like they lived in a third world country and they don’t look at the news. Parents take some accountability too.

But, they rarely if ever disown and spurn their terrorist children who have,. you would imagine, shamed the family.

There are things for which they WOULD be spurned and disowned, even killed. Marrying an infidel or apostasising would do that.

Talk about leap of the year, or he just misses his daughter and doesnt want to cry on camera.
Late to the party but also when his wife said "the father didn't know he was "randomly" walking in a pro Islam rally" kind of gave it away. The parents knew full well
you clearly have never met an immigrant parent before....african dads dont get sentimental in front of the world. He means it in a helpless way. You should brush up on reading context and social cues.
@@hedaya2405 you know him.. What is the intension behind his super calm behavior?
Let me tell you as an Ethiopian man born and raised there, we definitely do not like to show emotion in public. Also, family honor is a big thing so he's probably embarrassed too, and really he should be embarrassed. ISIS beheaded 21 Ethiopians from Libya so he should be embarrassed that his girl is associated with those extremists
These girls weren’t kidnapped. They made a bad choice. Unfortunately for them choices have consequences. By traveling to Syria to support ISIS in any form, is traveling to support the enemy of the nation your from. They probably thought ISIS was going to win. Unfortunately for them they bet on the wrong horse. Now they have to live with that choice. I have no sympathy
Exactly!
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.
Do not let them back !!! Protect British citizens !!!
That same father thats now crying is on video, burning US and UK flags. Oh well you reap what you sow dude!
I used to take language classes with this family from Irak and one of the young girls told me she have a fiancé since she was 8. Her parents choose the right man from family friend. I was like okay. But then inside me I was like omg imagine not falling in love with the person you want but instead with some random guy you parents chosen for you. Also I was like if I was you I would live like a western since you live in Norway and in here the laws will protect you.
Its true even their prophet had sex with 6 year old child bride.
it's interesting how this wasn't treated as a missing persons case from the beginning with the disappearance of Sharmina. If a young girl within a friendship group is missing wouldn't informing the parents of her disappearance be the first step?
It wasn’t a missing person case tho lol she wasn’t missing she left planned it they new where she was 😂🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
But they were missing for a week no ?
father paved the path ,,, daughter walked on it ,,,,, why crying after all happened ...
I think the only one remorseful is the mother, but she can’t say anything. The father seems proud of his daughter he just putting on a sympathetic act so they don’t kick him out of UK.
Using your freedom to attempt to destroy it is not freedom, is the opposite of it.
