I found that as our babies got older and wriggled more on the changing table it became harder to get nappies etc out of the cabinet doors whilst also holding on to baby. We resolved this by adding a pretty shelf just above the changing mat that held just a few nappies to be grabbed quickly along with larger pots of cream and talc. We even hung toys off the shelp to dangle above baby to keep them focused and still rather than trying to roll over and get off the changing table. Xx

I just grabbed a diaper as I was putting the baby on the table so I wasn't trying to grab them out of the cabinet. My table had one open shelf underneath which was handy for the other things like wipes, Desitin ointment, etc. But she can keep those in a drawer where she can grab it easily.

yep. I had those ALL throughout my most recent pregnancy and even postpartum until recently. I don't like that they make pregnant women fast that long 😩 especially water
I’m also pregnant and they told me not to fast but to avoid sugar before the test. I am in Québec, Canada. I found it weird to hear her say she had to fast as a pregnant woman ..
I recommend one of those playpens that has a bassinet with pockets for diapers and wipes for downstairs. That way you don't have to go up the stairs for every change.
It will be wonderful for you and your family once the kitchen is done and your baby is born. You can then enjoy your home and spend all your time with the baby. The baby changing table is so beautiful. I Love your gold necklace.
Omg! That cabinet is absolutely gorgeous! I’d have got right in there and scooped it up too. Also, that big piece of art on the easel was so pretty! It seems like the Rose Bowl has such nice art, I can never find pieces like that around me.
That cabinet is absolutely precious. I love the scalloped trim on the bottom. It's too perfect. I'm glad Romeo said something about putting the cabinet outside of the nook area. I was thinking about that too. No need to cram everything into that space especially since it's a guest room not a space that someone is in all the time. It's all going to be so cute. I'm so excited for the kitchen. I know you're not in the thick of it, but like you said there is so much more you'll be able to work on. You've done a great job to focus on specific spaces that reflect you and enhance your home.

That dresser is perfect!!! ❤❤❤ Something to think about is that you’ll want to have an option on the main level for changing the baby. I found that I never really went upstairs to the nursery to change the baby. I was always in the living room. You can use the couch or floor, but it is nice to have somewhere you can stand. It’s just temporary but it’s for a while, first year pretty much. Maybe a nice basket you can have some diapers and wipes in too.
One amazing tip for your faux grass on the patio, A Kärcher vacuum cleaner is build for construction site use, it can take ip moisture aswell. You can use that perfect to vacuum outside like all the little leaves on the grass and stuff.
Hi Macenna! We also had a dresser as our changing table. We used a diaper warmer for our wipes, and we put it inside the top drawer. We would pull it out halfway anytime we did changes so the wipes didn’t have to fit on top! You could probably fit wipes in that top drawer as well.

Old trick for helping old drawers to slide more cleanly. Rub a bar of soap on the slides underneath the drawer, and inside where the slides hit. My dad is a master carpenter, and he's used this trick for decades. I like to use an unscented and color free bar of soap.
I've had semi-regular bouts of fainting and near-fainting (from vasovagal syncope) over the past couple of years. The major thing I've learned is that if you ever feel like you did during the glucose test, to lay down and put your feet up until you feel better. If you do pass out make sure people around you know to track how long you're out and try to prevent a head injury, and definitely seek medical attention afterwards while pregnant to be on the safe side. Hope you were able to get plenty of rest!
I have a blue baby chiffarobe, hand-built with 4 drawers and a door with a hangar inside if you would like it. I live in SoCal. It needs repainted. It is very heavy. I bought it 50 years ago. I do fear you might keep moving because I love this house so much. But once the kids get in school, you pretty much have to have a house where they can go to the same school for their friends to be near.
That laugh at 12:51 got me rolling! 😂. The joy of winning 😄... I'm glad you got your cabinet and it's beautiful! Wishing you both the best time before and after the baby comes. Enjoy your motherhood 🤗... It's so precious...
I use a vintage piece for my changing table and it is a hair too shallow for changing pads also! I started with the traditional changing pads you can get from Target but switched to a Keekaroo Peanut changing pad. Even with securing the pads to the top the weight of the Keekaroo pad just feels so much more secure. Especially into toddlerhood!
MaCenna can you please start including the prices of the things you find at the flea markets!! I know you always did back in Texas when you did the cottage, it’s so interesting!!
You can stack the diapers on top of each other instead of sideways since it is easier to have a small stack always available in the drawer. Or in a small basket on top of the dresser if it fits 😊
That cabinet is gorgeous ❤, just a tip for future reference re the draws,an old candle or bar of soap run along the edges of the draws and the inside of the cabinet, makes the draws run smoothly, it also works well on wooden doors that 'stick' as the weather changes, great video as usual, i always find them so calming ❤
A hack you might want to use when remodeling wood furniture. I used car wax on a drawer to get it to stop sticking and close easily; and also my front door is heavy wood...got it to close very nicely, no sicking. Best hack I have ever used.
When I saw the boxes of blue and white china, I so wished that I was shopping with you and Romeo. Your new cabinet is just lovely and is a great addition to your home. Great Rose Bowl video!
I would 100% recommend the keekaroo peanut changer if you haven't gotten one already. They stay put and they come in pretty neutral colors to fit the decor of your nursery
I saw the large crack going down the wall through all the blocks where you want to put the light and that means you need to have that checked and make sure it's not failing. I only had a little crack, not big like yours, and I had to replace the whole retaining wall. With all the rain and the hills failing, you can't be too careful.
If a drawer in a wood cabinet doesn't run smooth, you can actually take the drawer out and run with a soap bar over the wooden strips left and right where the drawer runs in and out and then it will run smooth again 😊
I really love the dresser it will look amazing in the room❤❤❤❤❤. I had to do the more I depth glucose test I know exactly how you felt. Looking forward to seeing the nursery❤❤❤❤.
Love the new cabinet! Maybe you could reuse the wire basket drawer thingies you had in the kitchen and fit them into the vintage cabinet. I feel like you're going to want super easy access to diapers and stuff and with baskets it's a little harder and you kinda have to use two hands to prevent it from falling forward, whereas proper pull out drawers are more suitable for one handed use, while you keep an other hand on the baby
For diapers, I'd just stack them on the shelf. But for other things, baskets would be nice. The only problem with the pull outs is they're probably too deep. Kitchen cabinets are usually deeper than furniture pieces.

I love doing diys and home renovations! I was nine months pregnant and installing flooring and baseboards lol looking back I have no idea how I had that much energy but I can’t wait to show my daughter those videos and pictures of how much love my husband and I put into her room! Pregnant again with baby number 2 due in Aug and we’re getting to work on the second nursery soon 🤞
It's the burst of energy before baby is born. It happened to me also. I moved a washer and dryer and installed laminate flooring. Husband helped moved them back...I gave birth 2 days later and he was 2 weeks early...2nd son was 1 week early. I was very blessed with easy pregnancies and easy and quick births 💜💙💚💛🧡
@@cathleenweaver6483 yes! I gave birth a week early. Dr had kept telling me I was going to go late because it was my first and I think being so active helped. Hopefully I get that burst of energy this time around too but having a baby that doesn’t sleep through the night yet has really got me exhausted this second pregnancy😮💨
@@anestassia6346 I bet you're exhausted. Take care of yourself. Now is the time to be "selfish" and ask for help if possible. And just think what great friends they'll be so close in age 💜💙💚💛🧡
Are you going to add an electrically controlled pool cover? It keeps the pool cleaner, and you use a lot less chemicals. Also, it's a lot safer for dogs and kids.
With a pool, you need toddler proof locks (e.g., that require keys and you keep the keys hidden away) on the *inside* on doors and windows. Toddlers are clever and they can wake up early before their parents are awake and find their way outdoors to go for a "swim." I think there are also alarms to put in the pool itself (we're looking into this now) so if someone falls in, you're alerted.
@mtzjotz My pool has a lock box over the switch for the electrically controlled pool cover. No one can open or close it without the key. The switch is 5 feet off the ground. We also have a fence and locked gate directly around our pool and another fence and gate around our acreage.
@Pkeats817 A lot cleaner! You do have to clean and condition the cover, but that's easier than keeping debris out of the water. And you keep a cover pump on it during the rainy season to keep it from collecting surface water.
Omgoodness! I’m so glad you are ok! Definitely take it easy and listen to your body and doctor. Work can always wait for you! God Bless you & your baby boy 🙏🏻🥰
The cabinet is a beauty! But for me, it was the wonderful transferware dishes and plates that were calling my name.... love, love love and I have so many... wonder what the prices were, lots on line but the postage to Australia is anywhere between $50 - $ 125 to send only one plate!! Great to see our beautiful Aussie gumtrees in the background of the parking lot.... ❤ from Sydney 🦘
Girl I can't take that feeling when you know you're about to pass out.. its so scary! I had hypoglycemia when i was pregnant the first time, my blood sugar would drop and cause me to pass out. I remember one appointment they had to prick my finger and my head just hit the table, i came to and i was laying down on the table/bed😄 They didn't want me to leave, wanted me to have someone pick me up but i was ok in about 30min! Its just weird, but I've always had low blood pressure so.. I will continue to keep you in my prayers🙏 Anyways... I love the little cabinet for the changing table, its so pretty!! So excited to see what's going on in the kitchen! And of course to see babies nursery again, i just love it so much❤
Macenna, you would be so much fun to go antiquing/thrifting with. I loved when you were waiting for the other people to walk away from the piece you wanted - I so know the whole tactic - you can't let them know you're interested - I was cracking up!
Or Mohawk Slideez Lubricant. Mohawk is a great, good quality line of furniture finishing products and this stuff is wonderful! Doesn't take much but makes things glide easily - drawers, hinges, etc
I’m sorry you were unwell. I hope you’ll rest up the next few days and just don’t worry about work or videos until you feel well. There’s nothing more important than yours and the baby’s health. Sending you lots of healing vibes xxx
Lovely dresser. Please make sure you secure it to the wall. It’s good that you are getting as much as possible ready for baby in your second trimester. That’s what my son and his wife did, which was a good thing, because her energy level plummeted during last trimester.
Love the wood cabinet. You’re so happy in your vlogs all I do is smile the whole time. You make me motivated to do my projects. Take care and rest. You both are awesome. I miss Kingsley too🐶
I happened to pause the video to step away and when I came back it was exactly as your head was thrown back with a solid laugh! Great to see!! Life is about love and laughter and getting through the hard stuff with those 2 supports.
Love the new cabinet! I did the same thing when my boys were little. After diapers and baby supplies it will be perfect for toys and later board games. Great little cabinet!
We had a smaller dresser/changing table space too so we got a similar changing pad to the peanut i think from skiphop so it doesn’t take up that much space - nicer looking too lol. Excited for you two for the kitchen reno and baby things! 🥰
MaCenna, the cabinet is so beautiful! Great find! I can't wait to see it in the nursery. Hoping your glucose test has fantastic results and no more glucose tests. 🙏
The cabinet is nice, and will make a great changing table. I used a low dresser for mine, when my daughter was born, it's now my TV stand. NOTE - you're going to want a changing station downstairs as well. It's going to get old real quick to go upstairs every time the baby needs changing. Most of the day the baby will be downstairs with you.
Macenna they make smaller changing pads! There are ones that are oval and slightly thinner/shorter than a traditional one. They don’t have covers usually and you just wipe to clean them. Ikea also has a slightly smaller changing pad that you can get covers for if you’d rather have a more traditional changing pad
I love how the nursery is turning out. I know you already have a changing pad. But you might look at the skip hop changing pad. It's wipe off able and you do not need covers for it. I got it for my Grandsons nursery and it's been great.
Love the cabinet. I wonder if the other people decided they wanted it. You snooze, you lose. That will look great in the nursery. And you can use it anywhere in your house when the baby gets older.
I love the little cabinet, but it looks like you may have to add drawer stops so the drawers are flush with the front of the cabinet. But it’s adorable. Also, you’re a very pretty mommy and Romeo is the sweetest! God bless you both.
I wanted to tell you about my glucose experience because I always fail it! This is my second pregnancy failing the test and my dr this time let me take my blood sugar at home for 2 weeks! It took three days for us to rule out gestational diabetes based off my normal numbers and it turned out that I just couldn’t handle the drink.
You can always add a piece of molding to the back to create more surface space while it's functioning as a changing table.
Yes! I was thinking the same thing ❤❤
Great idea!
Or even those gold gallery rods to tie in with the crib ❤️ that would be cute 😍

YES love the baby's cabinet!! Please take care of yourself... you and baby safety FIRST!!😇🥰
The cupboard will look cute as a changing table. I used my mom's wood tea cart for my grandkids.. Love repurposing things for new uses.
That would also help to keep it cleaner, wouldn’t it?
@Pkeats817 A lot cleaner! You do have to clean and condition the cover, but that's easier than keeping debris out of the water. And you keep a cover pump on it during the rainy season to keep it from collecting surface water.
@@janesmith1398 Nice! I’m in Northern Canada and won’t ever be near a pool, lol. Thanks for the info. 😊
Omgoodness! I’m so glad you are ok! Definitely take it easy and listen to your body and doctor. Work can always wait for you! God Bless you & your baby boy 🙏🏻🥰
That frame u looked at with the water damage, the round frame and picture by it my dad has one like it with his oms picture. So beautiful
Yay!! Love a flea, thrift, estate sale video!!😊 Pregnancy looks so good on you MaCenna. You are glowing to the moon.
And of course to see babies nursery again, i just love it so much❤
We so enjoyed your video today! Love the changing table! Can't wait to see the new kitchen, so happy for you two!
Macenna, you would be so much fun to go antiquing/thrifting with. I loved when you were waiting for the other people to walk away from the piece you wanted - I so know the whole tactic - you can't let them know you're interested - I was cracking up!
On the wooden drawers that are hard to open, i was always told to rub some wax on them makes it easier to open.
Great find!! You are my inspiration 😊
Or Mohawk Slideez Lubricant. Mohawk is a great, good quality line of furniture finishing products and this stuff is wonderful! Doesn't take much but makes things glide easily - drawers, hinges, etc
Quick hack for wooden drawers that stick, rub candle wax along the edges they will move smoother after. Love the cabinet!
But
I recommend you also set up a changing table on your main level also. I used that one much more than the one on their baby room
I can’t believe you’re 27 weeks already! Things are coming along great and you look so happy and healthy!
That is such a pretty cabinet, it will look so good and work so well in the nursery 😍
I’m so happy you recovered quickly during your glucose test!! I’m sure it was scary for you!! Great find on the changing table!!🥰
I keep thinking about how different it’s going to be seeing you with a baby! ❤
We had a smaller dresser/changing table space too so we got a similar changing pad to the peanut i think from skiphop so it doesn’t take up that much space - nicer looking too lol. Excited for you two for the kitchen reno and baby things! 🥰
Home reno projects are so energizing! I love working on something that can't be easily undone.
We were at Rose Bowl too, we actually went at 6:00am, it was still dark but not crowded and we found cool stuff! It’s so worth it to get there by 8.
The changing table is beautiful 😍
Yay looking to forward to Sunday video. Have been missing those😢
The cabinet is gorgeous! I bet that couple had second thoughts and went back. Too late…MaCenna has it! hehe 😀👍🏼🐶
I would add drawers to the inside of the cabinet instead of the shelves so it’s easier to get the baby’s things ❤
This entire journey, has been so exciting❤ happy for you finding the perfect changing table, see ya soon 💯🐾🎉thank you, as always.
💯 agree with this suggestion. It works great for us too. We're on year 2 of using it now.
Love the cabinet. I wonder if the other people decided they wanted it. You snooze, you lose. That will look great in the nursery. And you can use it anywhere in your house when the baby gets older.
That piece is perfection!
Glad you recovered quickly. You look great!
I am looking after my daughter that feels poorly... Good to see you again, 😊
You are the highlight of my day! I’ve become so invested in your posts.
I love the little cabinet, but it looks like you may have to add drawer stops so the drawers are flush with the front of the cabinet. But it’s adorable. Also, you’re a very pretty mommy and Romeo is the sweetest! God bless you both.
I had the same trouble in Texas. Even worse in New Mexico. It encouraged me to learn more skills. Still...
I think my projects are too small potatoes.
I’d love to see you paint the fence and pool hut green. It would look so good!
Love the cabinet for the baby’s nursery❣️👍🏼
Always look forward to your videos. They make my day. ❤
❤ the cabinet,it’s going to be great for baby stuff.
Hot tip for sticky wooden drawers. Just run some soap along the edges. Works a treat.
