difficult to describe how the music of King's X breaks my heart, encourages me, motivates me to be honest & in so doing, is the sound of redemption. I LOVE this band.
Heard this tune for the first time, 25 years ago...a coverband played it...they had to play it several times that night...and in the years that followed....man thats a great tune, well played, well sung, well done!!!!! All is good, King´s X 4 the win---25years and counting :-) greetings from Denmark
Love this Demo Version. Very powerful, soulful, and melodic. It makes me happy that there is still great music out there and I am blessed to be a part of it.
It must have been hard to re-record this one and "beat the demo". Their performance on this demo is INCREDIBLE. The whole record is amazing, but this is one of the deepest songs for me. Thank you for the music and thank you for sharing this dUg!
YES YES YES! I've always felt that way about his "production" with them? For my money, one of the best produced KX albums is Tapehead. They produced that album, and it stands strong.
Guys, i'm surprised to read this comment. Brendan's raw aesthetic/sonic signature is stamped all over this record, from the overall clarity of this recording, the panning choices, to the depth captured in the kick and bass, to the "Classic" vocal sound. He chose the studio and classic "old school" gear to best capture his vision of the band. He mixed the album with the awesome Nick DiDia. As a producer his job would've been to get the best performances out of the band, by making them feel comfortable, making arrangement decisions with the band, and *listening* - he's also a great musician. You probably know he played the awesome solo on Black Crowes' Hard To Handle.
This sounds great. The studio version is obviously more polished, but it's rare to hear a demo that is so close to the final product, and not surprisingly, you guys did it.
Fooled me too. Great lyrics leave a lot of room to the imagination! Many are out there to FOOL us, no doubt. Hard to tell the snakes from the good guys!
One of the greatest songs from one of the greatest albums ever!! And very interesting to know the demo. I like the verse better here though I prefer the chorus in it's final, heavier mix. Completely timeless anyway!
Anyone that likes this should check out their whole Dogman demos... I think it's on their site. Very cool "alternate" versions of the songs on the album!
I just love this version, it has a great groove and somehow sounds fresher to me than the final version and I prefer Ty's tone on the demo too. I do mostly prefer all the dogman demos to those on the final dogman album for similar reasons.
Spectacular!! Fucking love this song!! This demo sounds very close to the final album version. I would love to hear the full demo! This reminded me of an interview or something that I saw you saying that the first mix or master of Dogman was "released" with too much bass. Do you have a copy of that version to show us?
Hey is that Satelite radio in the picture? I saw that when I was in Houston once. Is it a USA thing only or is it in any other countries? I'm in the UK.
It should be everywhere if it's coming from satellites. But I don't know for sure, I've never been out of the US. I'd assume that if you can acquire the radio you can acquire the signal.
Imma always thought da big parade were da chruch and religion try fools ebbeones thad how froggy always interpruts dis songs but imma nod really nose whad an bouts..as usual kings X am bess🐸
Everything they do is just magical. Best fucking band on the planet.
Truly, one of the most underrated bands ever!
Damn...this might be better than the album version.

I LOVE this band.
This band changed my life , made me think u could have faith and still be a rocker !!
Kings x are an awesome band !!!? THIS is one of my favorite songs from them ! Remember they will all try to fool you 😊🙏🎸🎛🎼
I put iTunes on shuffle this morning and "Fool You" was the first song that came on, prompting a King's X binge.

Ty Tabor's Tacklebox, CD1, Track 9. just gave the Ty demo a listen and now I listen to this upload. love that song and all the other King's X songs.
Happy 25th anniversary, Dogman. So much respect for you cats.
You need to perform this one live and put it on UA-cam for all to see and be amazed of how bloody brilliant you guys are :)
Cheers from Sweden!
Great
And they did fool.
One of the best from kings x
This song has one of the most sublime harmonies of anything I've ever heard
true
well that is one of my favorite songs of you kings x.
Thank you dUg for uploading the demo of one of my fav song ! Interesting to know what was improved on the released version.
Clean.) My favorite band. Doug, you are an inspiration and your voice is incredible! Thank you for your talent and Rock On!
This is soooooooo awesome! ...I am getting the shivers it's that good❤ barely changed from the demo!
Thanks for sharing this dUg, ur the best amigo.
Added to my favorites and will listen to it often ! Word can't describe this tune.
My dude... love your work so much. Life is love.
Ty and dugs vocal harmonies are underrated
This is such a jam. I 🙇♀️ bow
dUg's a celebrity and this song is a celebration .. so clean and pure!
Oh God, that’s fantastic. The slower tempo is interesting.
Thats cool. The chorus is a little 'smoother' than the final version. Love how the background vocals are panned.
Masterpiece!
Brendan O'Brien pressed "Record"

You are a badass. The band is awesome. I love you guys.
You guys are still my favorite band. So underrated. This song brings me back to high school.
This is awesome.. doesn't sound like a "demo." Hope you'll post more.
Doug, I hope to shake your hand again in 2022. I cried the last time I met you.
I simply love your work brother! -Norman
I'm speechless! wow
Kings x always makes me smile, cry and roar!!!
Amazing!
I asked Dug what this song was about when I saw them in Orangevale, Ca. He said it was about their old band manager. Sure fooled me.
Fooled me too. Great lyrics leave a lot of room to the imagination! Many are out there to FOOL us, no doubt. Hard to tell the snakes from the good guys!
Pure perfection in rock !!! Best demo ever !!! Kings X still rules !!!
wow Dug, this demo is fully formed.
This is F ing cool as S***, Dug!!!!
THIS IS THE SHIT RIGHT HERE!!!!
Increíblemente increíble.
One of the greatest songs from one of the greatest albums ever!! And very interesting to know the demo. I like the verse better here though I prefer the chorus in it's final, heavier mix. Completely timeless anyway!
spinning album by cherished album as per Greg Prato's excellent tome - page 137 has brought me here....this "demo" sounds radio ready...
My own interpretation was that this was specifically about the relationship with either dUg or King's X and their former producer Sam Taylor.
That's one hell of a "demo."
Anyone that likes this should check out their whole Dogman demos... I think it's on their site. Very cool "alternate" versions of the songs on the album!
It's still available on Molken music, the demos, I think.
The demos are absolute gold.
I just love this version, it has a great groove and somehow sounds fresher to me than the final version and I prefer Ty's tone on the demo too.
I do mostly prefer all the dogman demos to those on the final dogman album for similar reasons.
Slowed down a bit hits a harder groove, nice.
This sounds amazing! And only 8 tracks?? I like the mix on this better than the album version. Sounds cleaner. Thanks for putting this up Doug.
today I finally managed to figure out the bridge part on guitar. took a while to find the right fingering..
Love you dUg. From someone who sees you whenever you're around. Hope you feel better.
This is unreal, to good for a demo.
another overlooked Gem.

never heard this song, thanks doug =D
Holy shit!!! IS IT OK if I prefer this version? (and don´t get me wrong, I LOVE the entire Dogman album).
Is it odd that I like this better than the album version?
Such a killer f*n song

Lo voy a decir una vez más 8 días más tarde. Increíblemente increíble.
Where can I buy or download this?
Doesn't sound far from the final cut, top band!
I actually prefer the bass tone on this version.
How good is this?
Imma always thought da big parade were da chruch and religion try fools ebbeones thad how froggy always interpruts dis songs but imma nod really nose whad an bouts..as usual kings X am bess🐸
かっちょE-----------!
Hey dUg, still got some old demos too share?
Hey Dug, this is totally unrelated, but how do you play We Were Born to Be Loved on bass guitar?
What year??? 94-5?
"Is June or late September? Is it 1993?....?
