Today im taking a look at the rumoured first Adidas "Yeezy" Sneaker after the collaboration ended. Adidas terminated the Yeezy contract in October & immediately stopped production of all Yeezy branded products, however this gets a bit confusing as recent leaks & todays sneakers say otherwise... Today I break down this topic and take a look at the sneaker itself to try find out what Adidas is planning.

I could care less if kayne is no longer attached to the shoe I bought them because they were comfortable, but the price I knew was expensive because his name was attached, but since he not attached anymore they should lower the price
I can assure you the price is the same as normal Yeezys.The only reason why they were even “expensive in the first place are cos of stupid resellers and hypebeasts making it impossible for normal people to get.Other than that the msrp is still the same just that lesser resell market for it

the thing I find craziest about all of this is that Adidas isn't planning on changing the price. I have a feeling Adidas is not going to be selling that many 350, 500, 700 and 450s. the only positive thing about this is that now that they are just regular Adidas releases and not collabs then maybe Adidas will have them on sale once they see that they aren't selling at the price they are asking.

It's not that i don't like the models or the colorways I just don't think they are worth $220+ now that Kanye isn't attached to them. Atleast for the 350s and 700s they should price them at $130. I got a pair of adidas ZX 22 Boosts which look alot like 700s, and are more comfortable, they are regularly priced at $120 and I got them on sale for $30. Take a look at the model and tell me they don't look alot like 700s. If they have those priced at $120 then why not actually have 700s at $120?

I thought of the same thing when elliot mentioned millions of pairs stocked in their warehouse, they’ll try to sell all of it first then start implementing the changes, box and the logos.

The 350's you have is without a doubt a manufactured pair before the split up. As for the picture of the 500's, it isn't hard to believe that the picture could have been taken a while back before the fallout between Adidas and Ye. My guess is Adidas decided to use that old photo rather than take a new photo of the same shoe just with different insoles.

@@cityoftrees9953 Yeah, but they probably didn't cease production until all legal matters were finalized on paper. Its not uncommon for major companies to finish any current productions on product that has been written off contracted deals or recalls. The picture was over a month old when it was posted on House of Heat, so like I said... they chose to use an older photo rather than take another photo of the same shoe with a new insole. To be honest, they probably don't have any new insoles for the 500 yet because this shoe does not have a release date that I know of. All I'm seeing is "coming in 2023"... that could be as soon as next month or 10 months from now.

Now we understand why Kanye West was upset about the Adilette slide and accused Adidas of making knock off of Yeezy slide while he as not said a word about other adidas models who are similar to other Yeezy model like the Ozweego,Ozelia...because he doesnt own the right on the other models,only Yeezy slide and hence saw the adilette as menace for his revenue

Adidas is in a panic because, after severing connections with Kanye, they have $530 million in Yeezys inventory that they can't sell. If they sell the Yeezy branded inventory, they are legally forced to pay Kanye a 15% royalty in which they refuse to pay
They definitely CAN sell them, they just wont.
They can just sell the merchandise and it will sell off easily and be much more hype in the market, more than anything else could. They could just claim it was for environmental reasons and then pay kayne and be done with it.
But they rather not as after that the sales for non yeezy models of the past yeezy designs will get stagnant for a few months to around 2 years and will need very careful management.
This is business greed, not anything related to the shit they claiming it to be...

The production date is when it's finished, not when production started. Everything from sourcing materials, ordering materials, cutting patterns, soles being made all of that is done long before the tags are printed and added to the shoes.

That pair was out and for sale in Europe shortly after the fall out, so there was a stock in distribution. The only thing that happened, shoe stores that had them in stock tried to get rid of them as soon as possible and with no on-line coverage. No raffle, no standing in line to get a pair. All you had to do is walk in the store. It was also sold 100 euros over the normal retail price where I got them from(300 euros).

It could be entirely possible that the whole “cutting ties” with Ye was done publicly as it needed to be done because of his tweets etc, but privately they will continue to release his shoes and pay him the royalties etc which will mean they can keep the branding

actually he will get paid until 2024 because that's when his contract ends. Ye would not say it is good by him if he was not getting paid.
They won't continue selling them after his contract ends. The problem is they have half a million+ in stock and in order to not lose they will sell it and give Ye his cut but after that they will have their own branding and lower the price to $200 possibly $180.
@@hp7639 even when he was on board he didn’t have control over what goes out. Adidas and their designers own the designs, and the yzy name was licensed out to them to use as they saw fit. I’m sure they’re just ramping up production because these sneakers will sell, with or without the 3 letters on the insole 😂
@William Wiehe I'm knowing. I never said Ye had control of anything. I'm just saying the reason Adidas is still releasing yeezy's is because they don't want to lose over half a million in stock and rather unwillingly pay Ye his 15% But after they run out of stock they will likely repurpose the shoes to their new plans in the future without Ye or they will beg him to come back lol. But likely not.
The 500 could have been made less than a week after the split, the lead times and contract with the factory means Adidas cant cancel production that late without having to pay the factory i full. So might as well produce and deal with the box etc later.

@@papazype The labels, boxes, laces etc will all have been made by a different factory, probably a different company, prior to the start of construction of the shoes. The date on the sneakers is just the month when it left the factory, not production start date.
@@welovecheshirecats4557 Also a reason why the cost is probably going to stay the same for a while, since it will cost addidas an insane amount of money to do this. Even when considering they are doing this in bulk.

Personally I think both 350s and 500s were prepared to be released so maybe in Adidas-Kanye collaboration ending it was written that all shoes produced and the shoes which production is planned yet (signed to be produced) must be sold in case not to lose money. It could be that after some time they will change it a little, but these releases gonna be the same as during work with Kanye.
To be honest, I’m not sure if this is a fair comparison to what Adidas will actually release. Due to the planned timing of the original release and when Adidas ended their partnership with Ye, there is a good chance this was a seeded pair that someone received in anticipation of that original date. I think we should wait until closer to the new release date to make conclusions.

I agree. I recently bought a pair of 500 utility black off goat & the pair I got still had yeezy box & insole, and it had a production date indicating it was from one of the drops that got canceled. That was several months ago too, right after the partnership ended. The shoes in this video have probably been in circulation for months. I doubt there are any pairs in circulation that would have the "new" branding

If they do sell the 350s, are they dropping strictly via Adidas or will Footlocker and other retailers sell the shoes?
I’m speculating but It’s an easy explanation these yeezy sneakers dropping possibly pre authorized by Kanye before the separation. If the date in the contract for these releases is before the separation adidas might have found a way to release those shoes.

@GORGON_SHOEZ Yup Kanye didn’t design most of these shoes. He would usually give final approval for designs but most of them were designed by an adidas team

Adidas already told us they have $530mil of yeezys. So they need to sell it or loose that money, I would think if they did change it would come after those old existing pairs are gone. I didn't think they would use the SPLY-350, but now after hearing about their request to trademark that term, it appears obvious they will continue with the same shoes. It made sense as far as wanting to sell old stock. I want to know when they filed for the trademark and why Kanye didn't beat them to the punch.

It's possible the leaked images, and the pair you have in hand, were backdoored before they had a massive shift in production to remove the branding. This shift in terms of publicity is immediate, but as far as production, that shift would take a lot of time considering how far in advance shoes are produced before release. Obviously we can only speculate, but it'll be interesting to see how this plays out! Keep up the great videos Elliot, you're putting out the best content for sneakers right now homie.

I got the Granites from StockX. Probably my last pair of "Yeezys". New Balance has been killing it lately and I'd focus on those. The new 9060s are amazing.

Considering Adidas Original Tubular had several of the "yeezy' elements pre Kanye, I wonder if he actually designed anything and was just the face of the brand? Would explain why Adidas owns everything.
Kanye made all the designs. He gave the rights to adidas because he has/had stock in adidas. He was getting 15% royalties from the shoes. And got 1.5 billion. He didn’t give af about owning designs.

The 500’s seem like they had the materials started for them before November but were then put together in November, so they produced them like normal and upon release, they would get a new insole and box
Manufactures can’t change manufacturing plans on a whim. Likely takes several months. So production dates after the deal severance still makes sense.
The 500’s do confuse me though, that makes no sense as to why they would produce more YZY insoles if they were produced in November, sure it’s close enough to the split. But the fact is it’s after the split. They had to reach some agreement or there has to be something in the contract stating they don’t need to. My thoughts are after the extremely bad response to the new pairs came they struck some deal with Ye. Or maybe something even crazier happened and the partnership wasn’t fully terminated.

My guess is that they couldn’t stop the factory line, with the risk of losing the entire production. Finish the job as contracted with the factory and change tag, insole and box later on
@@VIP_75 That I could see as a very probable reasoning because of how close the production was for the 500’s.
It's really not the complicated, Production start far in advance we could have a full 2 years worth of yzy products left that were already in production. Shipping that much product also takes a lot of time. On top of that having to find local places to rebox ten of thousands of products takes alot of time and to have to do that for the scale yzy is on is an incredible difficulty feet.

The factory did not get the memo.. also it is hard to stop the productions of new yzys if adidas has a contract with the factories who makes them. You have to think of logistics in a much bigger scale...

11/22 is still close to the announcement date that Ye was on the outs so factories may have already started production. I'd wait until spring to see how the shoes change in terms of branding

Production and manufacturing are two separate issues.
Production is going from idea all the way to consumer.
Manufacture is just the assembly portion of the picture. They won’t suddenly change all the boxes and tags after the deal is legally already completed.

They ended all new production of yeezy products but that may mean all new production orders. They usually but in orders for products 6 to 12 months in advance of the production date so the the producers can had or remove tooling and such.

Released today, 9 August 2023, on Adidas (South Africa) as part of the Yeezy drop. Pretty much a full size run sitting.

In the everyday business world, this information should be kept in meeting rooms but Kanye made it public & now everyone is playing detective on the next move. It looks like nothing is going to change overnight. The change is made over an extended time. The money train has to keep moving forward.
JD sports UK app had full size runs of mens and womens Yeezy 350s last week but they aren't up anymore unsure if sold out or just removed.
This is an interesting issue, while adidas has full ownership of the designs and no doubt should sell the remaining pairs the question of wether they should continue to produce items designed by kanye west is an interesting one. As someone who's bording on being a kanye fan myself, I think it's quite sad he doesn't own the designs to his shoes. However in those desgins he made several cuts to make it more paletable to the average person so adidas would sell more, so in that same breath... they aren't completely the work of kanye either, and are not exactly what he wanted in the firstplace. Personally, if I was CEO of adidas I would still continue to sell the designs. However the question on pricing now starts to come up.
The price for the 350's being the same makes sense, they are basically an ultra boost with several more complex and harder to produce details so them being about $50 more isn't insane. Especially considering that while publicly adidas doens't like kanye, in private they still have to pay him hundreds of millions until his contract officialy ends. Quite frankly adidas entire anti-kanye stunt was just marketing to make people happy.
I'd argue myself that I'm still a kanye fan, although I dislike some of his objectivley anti-semtic statments. I do agree with the majority of the other things he says, espeicaly about the music, sports, fashion and entertainment industry as a whole. I also enjoy the vast majority of his music, and the vast majority of his fashion. So in public I act like I'm not a fan, but since I'm watching everything he's doing regardless of my opinion... I'm still a fan. Same thing for all the anti andrew tate fans.... if you watch everything hes doing, you are still a fan.
Would I personally buy these granite sneakers? If I actually liked the color blocking I would, but I dont. If they released the all black 750's, I'd be buying multiple pairs. Either way, kanye is gettting paid until 2024 and until then I'll continue to buy yeezy items (although i will argue a lot of the newer stuff isn't growing on me as much as the old designs that where ground breaking for the time)
Anyways, that was my little rant. I know a lot of people on the fence about this issue will agree to an extent however, and I hope kanye does see his mental state improve.

All these shoes were already contracted to be made. So they most likely was already in production b4 the split. So makes sense that 350s and 500s have yeezy branding. If they have 530 million dollars in stocks that means insoles and tags etc etc. This would explain the same price tag. There going to sell the supply pay Ye his royalty then start selling them without his branding them maybe the price will go down.

Remember this is a German company. They are known to be biased on their main market ie Europe. But, Adidas is a titan in America too... so, yeah I think if we apply EU laws in Germany maybe Yeezy is owned by Adidas but not in America.

Just a speculation, but there's a chance that this is one of the early pairs that came out of the factory while Kanye and Adidas still had the partnership. The reason why it still has the Yeezy branding on it.

They can’t sell YZY without the branding, they will instantly be seen as lesser and would not be as popular. This is what Kanye actually meant when he said YZY can’t drop him. His name is what sells the shoes, like it or not the shoe isn’t valuable without the creators name attached.
