Like Gothic, Gothic II is set on the medieval styled isle Khorinis. Places include the City of Khorinis, the monastery of the Fire Mages, farms and woods. The Mining Valley from the predecessor is also in the game, though it is a desolate wasteland now. Of the Old Camp only the castle ruins remain, the New Camp has turned into a region of unnatural frost, and the Swamp Camp is made inaccessible by a wall built by the orcs.
Khorinis is a rich area with beautiful farms and dense forests. The main trade resource of Khorinis is the magic ore delivered from its recently fallen prison colony to the King, who is fighting the orcs on the mainland. Most of the farms in Khorinis are owned by one landowner who has hired mercenaries - most of them former convicts from the Mining Valley - to protect him and his farms from the city militia when they try to collect taxes from the farms. This has caused Khorinis to be on the edge of a civil war. The city is low on basic necessities and relies on travelling merchants as the ships from the mainland have stopped coming because of the war.
People in Khorinis believe in three gods: Innos, the god of fire, sunlight and order; Beliar, the god of death, darkness and things unnatural; and Adanos, the god of water who is also the patron of humanity and maintains balance between Innos' and Beliar's influence over human world.

Either this mod or you added in extra SFX. I know the vanilla sound collage of the first two Gothics reliably. I occasionally recognize tweaks. Extra birds... Bell in the harbor... Added different sound of hammer on anvil.
This is subtly even richer than the original. I love it.
Also, the reverb on some birds is tuned.

Yes, i did add some extra sound beside the mods sounds. You are right, blacksmith, up at the Andre training ground and at the harbour 👌 and some more throughout the video 😁

@@rhodebreakspro because the games later were influenced by other people than piranha bytes, unfortunately.
Sadly, piranha bytes couldn't continue much because of lack of money and had to listen the ones who gave them money
A major change was the loss of rights to the Gothic franchise. Publisher JoWooD retained ownership of the Gothic name and intellectual property.

I played Gothic 1 2 and 3 a lot but always found the second chapter the best in terms of ambience, characters, music and plot.😊 I loved Risen 1 too…

why is this gothic game so different I used to know 15 years ago? I really like it. now it looks pretty decent

@@paulpaul5032 Well this version is not available on steam.
It is a mod, that you find online, I had installed some patches that fixed some ingame stuff then I installed this version, and yes it runs on dx11.

This is original graphic or it is enhanced? I can't remember reflections in water, dynamic shadows and ambient occlusion in G2. If enhanced, what mod you used?

It is enhanched with a mod that gives it a total overhaul.
Mod is called L'hiver EN edition, it a nice mod that gives graphical uplift but even makes the game harder 🙂

A game that is pretty similar to Gothic 1 and 2 is Risen 1, its developed by the same company that made Gothic.

Ist es speziell das Spiel ... ich weiß es nicht. Diese Musik lässt mein Herz sehnsüchtig nach einer Fantasiewelt schlagen und ich träume vor mich hin .....

Like a new path/road after the bandits near the Carnavorn cave. A beach down Jacks tower and some other small changes.
