Interesting list Richie. I agree that Discharge Hear No Evil should be on there. Also, I agree on X Ray Spex- can't stand the vocals... one side is all I can take. The Adverts Crossing The Red Sea would certainly make my list, as would Stiff Little Fingers Inflammable Material and Peter and the Test Tube Babies first album.

Wow, this was FANTASTIC, lol. Now this would be my type of thread but I mine would be nothing as deep as your picks. I spent a lot of time trying to get an original Stranglers IV. I got a GBH album, total blind buy, I liked their haircuts. Thank god Sex Pistols on top. Enjoyed as always. Have a good weekend Pat. Steve
Fantastic indeed. I like to joke about all the stupid genres. Let me just say, no one back in the day said, "Let's go to the Post Punk show." Give the GBH another spin when you are in a rockin mood. The singer for GBH is one of the best.
LIIIIIIIIIFE....... LIIIIIIIIIFE....... LIIIIIIIIIFE!!!!!!! I wore out my copy of UKDK when I got it in the 90s. Great video, def a worthwhile topic. All your picks are top notch.
Pink Flag is my number 11. The Damned first is my number 12. I seriously was considering doing a top 15 or top 20 because of not including those two bands. Thanks for watching.
Great list mate. I would put Joy Division’s Closer on that list too, purely because I find it so hard to choose between them, but I get it. It would be lame to have the same band on twice
I like your list which is pretty hardcore. Joy Division would be on mine. Buzzcocks " Love Bites " my favorite. I also go for debut Undertones & Killing Joke. " Ha Ha Ha " by Ultravox. Gary Gilmore's eyes by The Adverts my favorite single narrowly over New Rose by The Damned.
Uuuuummmmmmm . . . Yep. 10x. I want to put in some Chaotic Dischord or Exploited but I can't find myself replacing any of your picks. Damn! That Grolsch just made me thirsty. I think I'm gonna go grab 1 or 6 and start my U.K. punk day with some Menace 7"'s. Cheers!
Love popping the Grolsch. Any jackass can flash images of the albums on the screen, cool to see someone that actually has the flippin' albums. I definitely need that first Stranglers- it's fantastic. Unknown Pleasures is fantastic as well. Any wanker would have to agree. I don't understand why they didn't do a single CD of both the UK and US Clash record. Seems like a no brainer.

Fantastic. Great list. I know you’ve probably forgot more about punk than I’ll ever know but, being English, just humour me & let me name a couple. (Don’t know if you don’t have on vinyl, don’t rate or just don’t know these) Redskins - Neither Washington nor Moscow. The Ruts - The Crack. The Damned - Machine gun etiquette. Angelic upstarts - 2000 voices. Gang of Four - Entertainment. Stiff little fingers - Inflamable material. U.K. Subs - Another kind of blues. Killing joke - Killing Joke. Bethnal - Dangerous times. Lords of the new church -Killer Lords.
Most of my punk albums are from US bands and US pressings. I’ve got a pretty good amount that I started out buying in the 80’s. I’d love to see a top 10 US punk records. That’s a reason for me to start a channel right there. I unfortunately only have a few U.K. punk records. Great vid! Thank you.
Wow that’s a killer list God I wish I had more punk in my collection but I can never find any around I’d have to order everything on line I totally agree John Lydon is a great singer Even in the Pistol days I found his voice unique and strong and Steve’s a great guitarist as well That Bollocks record has really stood the test of time and the production on it as simple as it was sounds really great I love Bodies and Holiday in the Sun It’s just a killer listen Oh and I am a GBH fan too Love the song Cadillac One Peace ☮️ Cosmic Brian
I always thought the US version of The Clash was the same as the UK version with Complete Control added (which by itself makes the US version better). Now I need track down the UK version.
A great set list. A few of them I was not aware of. There was a time when all I listened to was punk. Now, I rarely listen to more than one punk album a month. Thanks for sharing Richie.
The only English Dogs I have are from their thrash metal period, while metal it still has that punk mentality to it. I was 7 when punk kicked off over here, it was a bit scary for this middle class sunburben church going kid, lol. Such a great period of musical history. FANTASTIC!
I love the English Dogs. That first EP Mad Punx and English Dogs is great. The first full length album is not near as good. After that they went into a Metal direction and those records are really good. I think the album I showed Forward Into Battle is better than anything the big four did. Thanks for watching.
it is funny how there are so many lists....just in books and magazines. Aside of maybe 3 albums everyones should be different. You hit the "harder" ones as expected,
Hey Rich, I nearly bought Verbal Abuse - Just another American punk band LP today. I don't know them that well but you're the resident American HC expert so what do you know about it?? I understand Slayer are fans but that's all I know. Cheers :)
Well, you got 3 of my top 10 on your list--Clash, Sex Pistols and GBH. Cockney Rejects is also in my top 10, but it's Vol 1 which, although it misses Oi Oi Oi, is an overall stronger album. Two that should DEFINITELY be in the top 10 are The Ruts The Crack and Leatherface Mush. The later is the best punk band of the last 30 years period and the Ruts leave 95% of punk bands spinning in the dust. Hear No Evil etc is certainly a stronger LP than Why.... BTW, Joy Division a punk band?? Yes, their very earliest stuff has a few punky songs, but their two classic albums are def not punk. Thanks for the post....Good job, mate.
@@davidbeeson9408 I have since changed The Ruts Peel Sessions CD for The Crack in my assessment of their best album. The Peels contain 3 GREAT songs not on The Crack and the playing is just as tremendous. Check it out if you've never heard it.
Nice to see your Top 10. Sex Pistols always had to be number one. I can put that on anytime. Anti Nowhere league is the only other one I know and that's great. I love the Live in Yugoslavia 1983 album by them more than studio stuff.
I'm not familiar with the live in Yugoslavia. I think you would like English Dogs. I think Forward Into Battle is better than the early big four releases.
I always miss The Rezillos in this sort of lists. "Can't stand The Rezillos" is definitely one of the best punk albums ever, not only in the UK. A single hair in Faye's arse is more talented that ten bands like Disorder put togethter.
Great shout. That Rezillos album is top innit but never seems to make it into these lists. I forget it myself though half the time & I don’t know why. 🤔. It may have somert to do with Top of the pops, dunno though. It’s weird. 🤷♂️
I watch your video’s to see what I missed in music. I obviously am another Boomer douche that spent the 80’s selling my soul to the corporate world. Never experienced Punk works in the fern laden bars I frequented during that period. I am enlightened. Peace
I was listening to the UK version of the Clash debut a few hours ago; I moved my stereo and changed cables, and it’s an album that I know how it should sound. Love the opening track - I consider Janie Jones one of the best debut album A1s ever. Different track on A1 of the US version I think, but I don’t own it. I do define Unknown Pleasures as post punk (I’m a wanker). Punk is a broad term though, and I wouldn’t argue with calling it punk. Or maybe I would. I need a beer. Cheers! Tom
I sure miss Sham 69 in this video, i guess you dont own any of theyr records ?, i think the " Life " album define the british working class life better than most uk punk albums at the time. Nice entry.
I do have a copy now but I wouldn’t say not owning it is ridiculous. I think a CD of the UK version with the extra songs as bonus material is a good idea.
Re your list: The Clash UK on Drastic Plastic is cheap and sounds great. Warsaw (pre Joy Division) is punkier than Unknown Pleasures. I know "punkier" is not very punk....
Sex Pistols, Joy Division and Clash obviously. Stranglers borderline and the rest of your picks are very marginal punk or even more like Skin Head music. Where are The Damned, Siousxsie and the Banshees, The Jam, The Undertones, Stiff Little Fingers, The Vibrators and of course X-Ray Spex, who you confess to not liking. I was lucky enough to get to see all these bands in Europe in the late 70`ties, and of course you have a different view on these as an american, but I must disagree with many of your choices and especially that you don`t get the greatness of X-Ray Spex and the wonderful voice of the late and very missed Polly Styrene. Greetings from an old punk from Denmark.
Most of the bands you mentioned I like. Of them all The Stranglers debut probably should have made the list. Same for The Ramones. Siousxsie and the Banshees are right on the border for me. I listened to The Crewd last night. An obscure band from Long Beach that played around Southern California. I was questioning if they should have been my number 20 considering how many great albums were left off. My conclusion they should have been higher. Fantastic stuff. It all comes down to individual taste but I don’t think any of the picks I made a marginal Punk.

The English Dogs album title is a reference to the Joe Cocker tour and album. Buzzcocks are considered Punk. Thanks for watching.
I like guitar sound on xray spex i agree bout singer,i feel same bout 999,their singer tamed down that hi annoying pitch,by their 3rd lp
I don't think I have ever heard side two of X Ray-Spex. I need to get Crossing The Red Sea and Hear No Evil See No Evil.I love Peter and the Test Tube Babies. Isn't their first a live album. How does it sound?
@@vinylrichie007 It sounds great Richie- real energy and played at a breakneck pace.
Also with your love of oi!, what about Blitz? The older stuff is pretty good
I only have a Blitz comp. I need to get their first album.
Did blitz do someones gonna die tonight?great song if they did
I’ll give Red Alert a listen. I’m going to do an 11-20.
Good selection there Richie phyco killer on the loose again demented brain in constant pain allways loved that lyric I met the e dogs good bunch of guys
Brilliant. Thanks for watching.
Wow, this was FANTASTIC, lol. Now this would be my type of thread but I mine would be nothing as deep as your picks. I spent a lot of time trying to get an original Stranglers IV. Joy Division, put me in the Wanker house, guess I can use Post Punk now ! Most of yours I am unfamiliar with and a lot of the others are in my top 100.

I wore out my copy of UKDK when I got it in the 90s. Great video, def a worthwhile topic. All your picks are top notch.
I had UKDK on VHS and played it all the time.
I would have had wire in there
Pink Flag is my number 11.
Yeah, I limit it to one album per band. Thanks for watching.
I want to pick up Crossing The Red Sea.
@@vinylrichie007 About every 10 years some label reissues it.
My favorite music....
Cheers!
Well the list is limited to what I have.
A CD of the UK Clash debut with the extra US track added at the end. A no brainer.
great, great stuff!
Thanks for watching.
Best list.
Great video. See you at the Rebellion Festival next summer.
Thanks for watching.
What is the Rebellion Festival. Is that the name of the Trump 2020 campaign.
@@vinylrichie007 Trump's new campaign slogan should be " people with fetal alcohol syndrome unit " . The Rebellion Festival is in Blackpool England. 4 days of Punk Rock bands.
Girl i knew in army saw gbh bass player pulled out a knife,70s punk is my fav,i would add slaughter dogs, the boys, wire, damned, buzzcocks, first lps,i had gbh leather studs ep pretty cool, that beer looks realy good
Pink Flag is my number 11 and The Damned debut is my number 12. Because of those two albums I considered expanding the list. I like Slaughter and the Dogs but only have them on comps.
Oh, some of my faves are missing. The Adverts Debut Album, The Damned 1st or 3rd and Wire's Pink Flag would be in my list for sure. I never really liked the 2nd wave stuff.
I do like the Adverts but I only have 7”s. Pink Flag by Wire and The Damned just missed making the top 10. Most likely would have made my top 12. In fact I was considering doing top 15 or top 20 because of those two bands. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
@@vinylrichie007 i have one or two Adverts 7"es. Try to get a copy of their debut album. Shouldnt be to hard to find. You will not be disappointed!
Cheers from Berlin
Fantastic. Great list. I know you’ve probably forgot more about punk than I’ll ever know but, being English, just humour me & let me name a couple. (Don’t know if you don’t have on vinyl, don’t rate or just don’t know these)
Redskins - Neither Washington nor Moscow.
Generation X ? Richie any thoughts ?.
There first album is great.
Discharge sounds like it would be in my wheelhouse.
Discharge is one of the most influential bands in music.
Vinyl Richie You have yet to steer me wrong. Will see what I might dig out of the locals.
Most of my punk albums are from US bands and US pressings. I’ve got a pretty good amount that I started out buying in the 80’s. I’d love to see a top 10 US punk records. That’s a reason for me to start a channel right there. I unfortunately only have a few U.K. punk records.
Great vid! Thank you.
I have way more US Punk. I may do a top 10 US Punk video. I did do a 100 best Punk albums video and most of the top 10 were US.
@@vinylrichie007 but no Dead Boys!
@@dack6528 Dead Boy's aren't from the UK...
Thanks for watching. I think you would like all of these.
Sorry that was supposed to say John Lydon LoL
I always thought the US version of The Clash was the same as
the UK version with Complete Control added (which by itself makes the US
version better). Now I need track down the UK version.
There are about 6 or so songs not on the US version. I think the songs they have in common may be different versions. Thanks for watching.
A great set list. A few of them I was not aware of. There was a time when all I listened to was punk. Now, I rarely listen to more than one punk album a month. Thanks for sharing Richie.
I still listen to Punk quite often. Thanks for watching.
You hit the "harder" ones as expected,
People love the lists and I have to give the people what they want.
In my new video I did steal your comment about everyone's list should be different.
Fantastic…. 😁
When I was young I was a real punk, with my friend Carletto, we played hard. Ciao!

Hey Rich, I nearly bought Verbal Abuse - Just another American punk band LP today. I don't know them that well but you're the resident American HC expert so what do you know about it?? I understand Slayer are fans but that's all I know. Cheers :)
I have Rocks Your Liver by Verbal Abuse. It is a good album.
I had to go look. I thought I had Just Another American Band but I don't. I do have the CD. They are good but I consider them a 2nd tier band.
Thanks for watching and the great comment.
)@@vinylrichie007 Duh...I forgot my all time favorite punk Lp, Generation X's debut (the UK version, not the American)
@@willieluncheonette5843 I don’t remember but Generation X might be in my 11-20 video.
I agree on The Ruts, definitely. Brilliant band. Never the same after he died though.
@@davidbeeson9408 I have since changed The Ruts Peel Sessions CD for The Crack in my assessment of their best album. The Peels contain 3 GREAT songs not on The Crack and the playing is just as tremendous. Check it out if you've never heard it.
Good selection of albums, although I was never a Stranglers fan.
I only like their first two albums. Thanks for watching.
Hey Rich. In my opinion, everyone should own the Clash's debut album and Pistols' Bullocks. Classic stuff. Thanks and cheers.
Thanks for watching.
The drummer of the English Dogs , Andrew Pinching (Pinch) has just finished a 20 year stint of drumming for The Damned.
I did not know that.
Nice to see your Top 10. Sex Pistols always had to be number one. I can put that on anytime. Anti Nowhere league is the only other one I know and that's great. I love the Live in Yugoslavia 1983 album by them more than studio stuff.
The food is aweful in yugaslavia
I'm not familiar with the live in Yugoslavia. I think you would like English Dogs. I think Forward Into Battle is better than the early big four releases.
I just posted my response. Thanks to you and Edwin at Pretty Green.....
Watched your video and gave it a thumbs up.
I dig the clash. As do a lot of people. Some people consider combat rock a sell out. I don’t. Excellent pop feel to it. Even punk needs a pop rhythm.
I also dig The Clash and I agree Combat Rock is a good album. Thanks for watching.

It’s weird. 🤷♂️
There was a Tom Hanks movie "Road to Perdition". Post Punk! - Chris
Thanks for watching. Wanker.
I watch your video’s to see what I missed in music. I obviously am another Boomer douche that spent the 80’s selling my soul to the corporate world. Never experienced Punk works in the fern laden bars I frequented during that period. I am enlightened.
Peace
I would frequent fern laden bars on occasion.
Joy Division is a great PUNK ROCK band.
I agree. Thanks for watching.
You and Edwin and Mazzy covered everything I could show. 🤷🏻♂️🤘🏻🧑🏼🎤
Thanks for watching. I may do an 11 - 20.
Cheers! Tom

You don't own the UK Clash debut, arguably the greatest punk album? That's ridiculous! Don't put them together, the debut is perfect as it is!
I do have a copy now but I wouldn’t say not owning it is ridiculous. I think a CD of the UK version with the extra songs as bonus material is a good idea.
Mad Punx And English Dogs is the best punk EP ever
It is in my top 5. I love it. The more I think about it, it could be my number 1.
My knowledge of punk music starts and ends with Chipmunk Punk.
They just missed making the list.
Every album is Chipmunk punk if you play it at 78rpm.
Love the reference and the video as always.
Re your list: The Clash UK on Drastic Plastic is cheap and sounds great.
Warsaw (pre Joy Division) is punkier than Unknown Pleasures.

Sorry mate. I answered your comment on my phone and just assumed you were commenting on my latest video. So my response makes no sense. I am a dumb ass.
