- Burning Bridge was originally released as the b-side to Kate Bush's song Cloudbusting in 1985. The track was first released on CD as part of her This Woman's Work Anthology 1978-1990 box set. It was also included in the 1997 'EMI Centenary' re-release of Hounds Of Love.
I think the imagery from the video by woodkid.com/ really suits this song.

The first time I heard this song after buying the 12" single back in the day I absolutely was gobsmacked that they didn't find some way to squeeze this onto the album. Burning Bridges last 90 seconds or so quickly became my favorite snippet of music off the whole project that Kate released to the public. It became my own personal anthem for awhile. I played it ad infinitum. Back in the days when that meant sitting in front of the turntable, picking the needle up off the record and setting it back down in just that right groove again. I'm sure my roommate became annoyed with me doing that so often.
So to say this song means something to me isn't an understatement. To see the way you edited this video (my first exposure to your work btw) so compellingly beautifully blew me away and I've been looping it since absolutely stunned at how great you are at this. So OBVI I'm going to have to check out other examples of your art. Nice to meet ya. Gotta say I'm impressed! Well done you!

I really wished radio stations would pick up on the idea of playing more of Kate's music. Yes, these are songs from different decades. However, for most in America, these are essentially brand new. Burning Bridge is a total kick to listen to and would really be a great song to have as a second one reaching the airwaves, post-RUTH. This video also has me jazzed - most awesome.

Nice! I've always loved this song (one of those B sides that outdid the A side), and this video suits it incredibly well, and actually manages to visualise how the song made me feel as a kid (less powerless and more optimistic).

I knew from the first images and the quality of the video that it was a MrMarrs even before I looked. Stunning! Anyone know why she sings this sounding "unhinged"? Not as much as "Not this time" though, but has she ever talked about her approach to the song or is there a back story?

Burning Bridge was released as the b-side to Cloudbusting. Given the melancholic reverie of Cloudbusting, Kate Bush wanted Burning Bridge to be frivolous and invigorating in contrast.
As for why does she sound "unhinged", that's because in a way she is (in a beautiful awe inspiring way). She is manic/depressive (as are alot of the greatest artists) and she expresses that in her amazing body of work. I defy anyone to listen to her The Dreaming album at top volume and not become a little unhinged themselves.
Her music has saved me from the funny farm, I'm sure of it. It helps me (and countless thousands of others) to "stay sane inside insanity".
