Fantastic. Thank you, Rabbi Ehrenberg. Yet, how did things move from Yosef's caring about details of the rules to where we are today where " the left" Northern Kingdom represents liberalism? Was there a switchover that happened as an attempt to balance, but it overreached?
This is truly an excellent question, and when I studied this teaching, it also troubled me. Although I have various thoughts on the matter, I don’t think I know the answer. With God’s help, I’ll try to delve into the issue, and if I manage to find a clear source or a more definitive answer, I’ll write it here. In any case, thank you again for the excellent question! P.S. - It’s worth reading the entire teaching inside. This is the first teaching in Part I of Mei HaShiloach on Parashat Vayeshev.
@@Rabbi-Ephraim-Ehrenberg Shalom! I'm glad to find this podcast. I'm son of marranos and Abarbanel on Obadiah tells how both houses left for Spain and France before purim events, so I always felt identified with the Northern Tribes. Let me comment about what I do think about what our brother has asked, maybe it helps: Ari Goldwag, the singer who also teaches Torah explains that within the state of Israel itself we can see both forces of Yoseph and Judah being the Ashkenazim related to Yoseph and the sephardim to Judah. We know that both represent the tribe of Judah and it doesn't mean the kingdom of Ephraim has returned since that is only happening at the end, the very end, yet Binyamin is the bridge between Judah and the northern kingdom, Binyamin is part of the southern kingdom but maternally he is ben Rachel, like Saul who was in opposition to David, in friction. I see the chassidim most likely are from the tribe of Binyamin since they are the "Yehudim" that the prophecy of Zechariah 8 about the ten men from nations and tongues will hold unto the tzitzit of. Also, Yoseph has stages, it's a dynamic process, the soul of Yoseph originates from the loftiest heights, descending to Earth and wanting to Elevate again. Yosef knows how powerful Earth is to serve G-d so sometimes we can see Yoseph being attached to the material, when the material is associated with Judah, Malchut. Clearly Yoseph wants to elevate the material so it can serve the Divine. Yoseph is the tzaddik, involved with material but the material can't subdue him, in the end we need both Judah and Ephraim, if it is only Judah or it's only Yoseph we would have a super spiritual people that just waits to go to heaven when G-d doesn't want that leattid labo, or we would have a super material people that is stuck in chamor, the material. It's a paradox that would require a very lengthy comment and I'm still studying it! Note: this is an alias account used for smartv
Dear Rabbi, I have a question. I have heard lectures about gehinom by Rabbi Yoran Rufen in Russian and not in English and I have a few questions. As far as I understand, the eternal gehinom lasts until the soul is destroyed. Have I understood that correctly? If so, what is the difference between the eternal gehinom until the soul is destroyed and 3 or 4 types of karet where the soul is also destroyed? Can you please explain to me? Thank you in advance
Revelation 5:4-5 4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside. 5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”
Beautiful beautiful Torah!
