Just received mine in blonde. Took it to rehearsal, fantastic range of tonal possibilities. Fitted new strings (9-46) and lowered the bridge a tiny amount. Intonation is as near perfect as possible. Very nice neck profile. This will be my main gigging guitar.
One important test is missing: The combination of both pickups in series and out of phase. It is the best and most beautiful guitar I have ever had in my life. I don't play another guitar anymore. Its 24.7" scale (like Gibson) is very comfortable. Its solid compensated Wrap-Around bridge (from Epiphone. The trade mark can be seen underneath, when you are changing the strings) gives more sustain. The ergonomic body of the Stratocaster is very comfortable. The Squier Paranormal STRAT-O-SONIC offers 6 pickup combinations: - Bridge. - Neck. - Both in parallel in phase (the usual). - Both in parallel out of phase (great for funk). - Both in series in phase (like a humbucker). - Both in series out of phase (for funk solos?). It has 2 defects: - Good extra shielding is necessary. (I have already solved it successfully). One of the pickups is RW/RP, so it cancels out hum when both pickups are connected in phase. When both pickups are out of phase or only one pickup is connected, it naturally doesn't suppress the hum. - Push/pull switches are very uncomfortable to operate. Conventional toggle switches are better. (I'll fix it soon).
Just got this guitar in the blonde and have to say that I absolutely love it. Might just be my favourite guitar, and this includes far more expensive guitars.
Your video helped a lot. I got one of these yesterday and when I was checking it out, I called AMS about what I thought was a malfunction because when I had the pickups in series I was getting nothing from just the bridge pickup. Thank you for explaining that. Even the two AMS guys I talked to didn't know. They'd told me that since they didn't have any more of the red ones in stock that I could just take it to the tech of my choice and they'd reimburse me for the repair. I called them back after seeing your video and told them that all's good and they didn't need to expect me to send an invoice.
I have one in blue, which was a direct from Fender offer. A couple points: my example is fairly hefty so weight varies. Interestinly, 2 piece body with about 3/4 being one piece. The pickups vary a bit as they seem less flubby in the lower mids than most P90. I was hoping you would mention if the screws pass thru correctly or cut into the body wood. As I have had to do nothing re: setups or adjustments as it was great out of the box. The kill switch bug could be a feature. One caveat is the frets like a lighter touch being narrow and tall. But I am very happy with it.
Your review here pushed me over the edge! I picked up one of these up (in the same transparent red) a few weeks back and I am loving it. My first P90 guitar, and my first short scale. I've got a *lot* of youtube guitar reviewers in my subscription list, but the everything about your reviews, from the thoroughness of the bench specs to the quality of the audio samples, put you at the front of the pack. So...many thanks! And man, Squier has been killing it in the last few years. I've got the 40th Anniversary Strat and Tele, both bought as mod platforms but so far un-modded since they're pretty great out of the box. And I've got the Contemporary Tele RH which I am tuning down to D standard. Now I am eyeing the Toronado!
Hey, I am the guy who bought your Squier Tele Custom II with the P90s back during Covid (LOVE IT BTW). Thanks for the demo. I want one of these BAD, but am waiting in hopes of a Black one (I only buy black guitars... it helps limit my collection madness lol). I see they just added limited ed blue this year. At this Price point however, I could see a used model with a refinishing job in my future someday regardless. Thanks again... for the video and the badass P90 Tele.
Hey guy's been a minute, But I really dig this Guitar,, I really have had eyes on them but am really Greatfull you guys gave this guitar a look over and under the Hood, saying so I guess there isn't any usa components or work on her at all,, but I understand your looking and value your Opinions 👍🤘🎸🤠 TY Zack and John 🤘🤘🤘
I went to order one but ended up with a Mustang instead. I had a cheap Epiphone P90 LP with the same bridge. I HATED it and just couldn't do it again. Im sure this is much better than the Epi, but I didnt want to regret anything. So I got a Sonic Mustang HH instead. I love it. Id like to try before I buy a Stratasonic
I had this guitar on my radar until you took the neck measurements. I wish squier would leave a little more meat on their necks. Seems like all the squier Strats I’ve played all have a sorta slim thin necks. 21-22mm at first fret and 23-24mm at twelfth would have made me purchase one.
The entire bridge can be moved forward or back for overall intonation adjustments, but individual string adjustments for intonation cannot be made. If you stay with 9's or 10's, the intonation is nearly perfect, like a well adjusted acoustic guitar. I have had no issues with mine.
You want to get screwed over and ripped off? Buy a Squier new. They’re junk. For example this guitar doesn’t have a mahogany body but a wood like mahogany. Junk.
I have a paranormal carbonita tele and it’s great. I was 300 bucks. I have plenty of high end guitars and it’s not replacing any of them but for 335 it can’t be beat

Push/Push is great!
A set of Telecaster knobs solves the push/pull pot problem.

I LOVE mine!! Swapped the pickups for a humbucker / p90 combo. Sounds and plays just beautifully!
Can you tell a difference between the two sets of pickups?
yes. pickup hum is gone. especially with the "tone zone" humbucker in the bridge. let's jam!
@@HardJello357
how did you fit a full size humbucker? did you route it?
@@takemebacktothen I got a Dimarzio Tone Zone P90 sized humbucker. It fit just fine and is worth looking at.
@@spinnywisegood To know.
Thanks!

I see it for 300 bucks I’m thinking about getting the blue
Sound amazing from where I’m sitting. It’s got a Rolling Stones vibe to me. Great job playing buddy.

This was the best of the recent Paranormal series!
I bought the offset-Tele in 2020, and once I replaced the pickups and had a pro set it-up, it’s one of my favorites.
It’s surf-green.
Sounds like a Home Run ! Very nice Fender did a Great Job ! Those P-90’s sound fantastic ! 🇺🇸👍👍
Have one just like it. Love it. At the moment it's my favorite.
that fretboard looks great!
Wow, what an amazing guitar for the price. It's got such a wide spectrum of sounds. I love it.

THANK YOU for the well-executed introduction/demo of this guitar! I didn't hear any 60-cycle hum--are those P90s that quiet?
Sounds great for a budget guitar!
I bought the limited edition in sapphire blue. Really nice guitar.
Sometimes it’s who is playing and not how much an instrument cost. This guitar has a lot of nice features
Ideal! I have an old Ibanez with P90's or I would buy the Strat-o.
Incredibly cool ❤.

This sounds like a great guitar to use when you’re not quite sure what sound you’re looking for. It’s a bit of a wild card.
Just bought it used for under $300. So excited!
How’s it been?
@ErrorNumber404 Its a fun instrument. Very hot pickups. No blues or jazz for this one. Definitely a sound I can't get from my teles or strats.
awesome, was considering it myself. Nice to hear you’ve had a great time with it
@@ErrorNumber404 Dave's Guitar online currently has one for $230. That's a steal!
Is that work bench from Harbor Freight? Was looking at that today thinking about getting it.
Yes it is! Best $100 I ever spent. Thanks for watching
🎉
No and they have the tune-o-matic bridges .
Did they finally stop using Epiphone branded tailpieces? 😆
Unfortunately.
Is the bridge intonatable ?
