1965 should be #1 - Jim Clark and Colin Chapman triumphed in dominating fashion with the first rear-engined Indy-winning car, a Lotus 38 powered by Ford. Jim was the first driver to break the 160 mph barrier.

dominating = not #1 sorry. I know it was impressive and Jim Clark is one of the greatest of all time, but competitiveness is what matters.

@@jtp2007 What does a close race have to do with this list?

@@jtp2007 How competitive was it for Jim Clark to fight his way into this race. World champion in F1 and they made him take a drivers test? Same for Mario
Andretti in NASCAR Daytona, he fought to get same engines as AJ. Then they held Mario up in pits for over a minute. That again, in 1967. You USers get upset when a foreigner comes and drives, but u don't blame ur Robber Barons for supplying Germany with equipment and materials to fight and kill US people in WW2. What is wrong with u?

Ward lost the 1960 race due to a blistered tire, and the 1964 race due to a stuck fuel-richness lever.

I’ve got a soft spot for 1995. EVERYONE led that race late, and then crashed or get penalized. The entire race was BANANAS!

I think because it was so close, so late.
