I grew up Mormon in California, teenager in the early 2000s. Super active in youth conferences and dances. I didn't learn about EFY until I was 17. I was so jealous of people who had gone because it sounded like so much fun, like it would have been the epitome of the active Mormon teen experience.
I was on a church camp planning committee in high school. These emotional/spiritual experiences weren’t necessarily manufactured but we certainly created spaces where it came about, mostly from returning campers creating an example for new campers.
I can totally understand why some of the things you talk about here can get difficult to be consistently revisiting, despite how incredibly rewarding it is; don't be afraid to establish some little healthy boundaries if you need to :) like Bentley said, it has to be sustainable.
Went to fsy a month ago (it’s not called efy anymore) it cost $75 plus my ward paid that fee. The church is probably pouring resources into fsys to try and keep the new generation in the church lol
What the bleep! An opposite sex counselor that's at a camp as staff shouldn't be interacting like that with campers. Doesn't matter the age gap, there's a position of authority.

I loved EFY! I went 5 times. I loved the dances and meeting new people but, in hindsight, the testimony meeting night was manipulative AF.
No it wasn’t.
@@DRT279 I can understand why you want to say that, but it totally is.
