Happy holidays James. Thanks for keeping the snow stoke alive. We're having a brutal summer so far here in my part of Oz so these vids are keeping me sane.
Happy Holidays Mark! Really appreciate that. Will add it to the US lift ticket fund. So happy I can help keep ya sane through the summer :). See ya in the next one :)
This is awesome. Love Baker. When I started going there back in the early 90s there were T-bars and a very sketchy 2 chair with no bar, and they'd let you sleep in the lodge cafeteria in your sleeping bag so you could do multi-day trips in comfort, instead of having to sleep in your car in the parking lot. Love Baker. 94 through 99 saw some absolutely epic seasons at Whistler, Red, Whitewater, Baker, etc. Love the OG jacket, woot woot! Been around for a while. My car bin of old clothes, helmets, goggles, gloves, etc have saved me and friends and randoms so many times over the decades. Turned so many days, that forgotten things or wetted-out clothes could have ruined, into good times for all.
@conradcoolerfiend Sadly, sleeping in the lodge in your sleeping bag was a pretty common thing thought the Washington State and Southern BC region back in the 80s and 90s when the hills were still Mom and Pop owned. You could sleep in the lodge at Red Mountain in Rossland too back then.
When I lived in Aldergrove in the 70s, I far preferred skiing Baker to Whistler. Whenever I think of Baker, I think about that snowboarder who got caught in the tree well a couple of years ago, who got saved by a skier who just happened to see the base of his board.
Wow, Mt. Baker. I started skiing there in the late 60's as a kid. Rented skis at Yeagers in Bellingham and went sking in our jeans. Couldn't afford any extras. We just wanted to go skiing. Brings back so many memories. We didn't have the equipment like they have now.
Yooo, I'm working at Baker this season, in food service in the lodges. Got a ton of good pow the last couple days over the holidays, good stuff! It's so odd seeing someone explore the mountain on UA-cam and actually be familiar with where you're at!
Have been watching your videos for three years. And welcome to my home resort!!! I was skiing on Baker on the 24th and 26th. Damn, missed the chance to say hello!
Glas you finally made it to Baker. It was my home hill from '84 to '04.and your vid brought back great memories. One thing about Baker - if the cliffs don't kill you the tree wells will. Stay safe
Great All Mountain Video! All weather conditions! Makes the snow and surf the best! Once the oil skin jackets were the rage to keep one dry. But man, once froze up you would fight to flex. I know from cool wet experience. Baker and Baldy are fun hills with the right conditions. Great laps!
Baker hot pow special! Love that place. Pow days are obviously awesome there, but also highly recommend trying to get back on a warm clear day in the spring, the views of Shuksan and Baker are unreal. Possibly the prettiest ski area I’ve ever been to when it’s clear.
We left Whistler one night and it was pouring rain. We got up to Baker and Pitched our tents and it was dumping snow. Woke up to the plough in the parking lot. Had the best day skiing POW POW. Nice and deep but some sketchy chairs.
Making Baker Great Again...Believe me, this is the biggest most beautiful mountain you'll ever see. And I know mountains, folks. I've known mountains my whole life, this mountain is tremendous. I've seen alotta mountains boy, alotta mountains, but this one is a real winner, and we love winners, don't we? Don't we love our winners, folks? Don't we love our winners? I only pick winners. People love this mountain, and good people, very fine people, tell me it's the best mountain they've ever skied. We're going to make this mountain so great again you're going to be sick of winning, the greatness is going to be unlike any greatness you've ever seen before, believe me.
hell yea bro. Now you've laid eyes on it. the terrain, the snowdepth! I definitely keep an eye on the forecast temp at baker, low elevation and all that. But looks like you also hit that sweet sweet no line goodness!
That was a fun one, awesome locals! BTW... it's all old school lift tickets where I am. so I put key rings on my jackets so I spin the ticket off one coat and spin it onto the other 😎

Love that place when the snow is good, it dumps, the terrain is terrific, and if you find a local to guide you, there is a LOT of chair accessible backcountry terrain. Haven’t been for a few years, it is a 6 hour drive to wherever in glacier we book to stay overnight. Looks like you got a taste of high quality cascade cement 😅.
Long time Subscriber. Dude - Wish I had known you were there yesterday. I was there too and would have chugged a bottle of hot sauce with you. Great Video. Hope you kept your truck on the road driving off the mountain. Looked like a few folks went off-roading. (Hope everyone was safe and got their rides back on the road without too much drama.) I'll be looking for you on your return visit, and keep the pointy ends fast and facing forward!
The last couple times I was there the biggest Chair was entitled "Sticky Wicket"; I don't know what they call it now. I've also been told that due to precipitation and wind patterns, there is a counter clockwise wind drift. That wind drift is the same that brings record breaking amounts of snow to Paradise at Mt. Rainer as it does to Mt. Baker ski resort. That wind and snow already hit Paradise but had more left in the tank to dump on Mt. Baker ski resort about 200Km north of Paradise. Thanks for posting this excellent video!

Love supporting them (even with this damn exchange rate lol) as they haven't been gobbled up by a megacorp yet. The mountain is just awesome on a pow day and there's also a lot of backcountry to explore. I actually just got back from there today after they got a fresh foot of snow with constant refills throughout the day.

I wonder if conditions at baker also got better. The dream is to catch baker on one of their legendary mega dumps 🥹. Guess you're just gonna have to keep going back haha.
Lol reminds me of a similar storm day i did at red heather a couple weekends ago. So many people were skiing down as we came up, we couldn't figure out why. Then we tried skiing and realised we couldn't see a damn thing and were getting absolutely drenched 😂 Trees might help with light-related vis but they won't fix goggles that are absolutely coated and fogged 😅

It will probably still eventually wet out, but it will take much longer.
Going to Baker for a week for my big trip this year in like a month. Which chair are you on at 19:16? The stuff to the right is the kind of stuff I'm going there for. Trying to get a game plan going. Your video is a sign from the ski gods that I must go.
The entire ski area runs on diesel fuel, some lifts are powered by electricity generated from diesel and a few far ones are powered by diesel engines directly. The raven lodge gives me the classic ski lodge feeling. Love Baker. 😊
That was really cool to hook up with locals right off the bat, looks like a place with a few wrong turns you could get into the shit pretty easy with no way out... getting cliffed out sucks especially when ya can't see where in the f**k your at and am I going from bad to worse...

I needed that, I was supposed to be up at baker with the kids today, but we all got sick.
Glad I helped fill the void. I caught that dreaded Christmas flu too man. Rest up and get back on those twigs soon.
When baker is good it's the best thing you've ever hit
I can only imagine
Going to Baker for a week for my big trip this year in like a month. Which chair are you on at 19:16? The stuff to the right is the kind of stuff I'm going there for. Trying to get a game plan going. Your video is a sign from the ski gods that I must go.
That is chair 6.
Dude. You're gonna lose it when you see the terrain in person. Unlimited natural features. It is like nothing I've ever seen.
Bro you comming down to Alpental in Seattel?
Hopefully later this season
What skis were you riding this day?
Man that looked fun!
Super fun!
Sick video stop by glacier pub there a cool burger joint. I live in Abbotsford and ski Mt. Baker for 3 years.
Next time I'll grab a burg there
The entire ski area runs on diesel fuel, some lifts are powered by electricity generated from diesel and a few far ones are powered by diesel engines directly. The raven lodge gives me the classic ski lodge feeling. Love Baker. 😊
So sick eh!
Can you make a video about editing tips? Like how do you frame your videos with the x4 after you take them?
Mad one last season. Hope it helps!
