"The Karate is the inside part". Tells me everything about this instructor. Yup. Everything going on internally, the change in pressures, the winding up, the creating momentum internally...the whipping out with the whole body. That's the power. Everything else is just the technique. The most advanced teaching I've seen in Karate videos yet. Karate isn't my art, Kung Fu is, but this is highly regarded material. Most instructors don't even know about this.
Then you should really be able to appreciate they way the Sensei is able to take hard style movements and use them as soft style... He is showing principles of Tai Chi and Aikido and using the Shotokan movements. Ebb and flow...
@@atlgrowganics1592 I do. I strongly suspect that this instructor (or his instructor) trained heavily in internal Chinese martial arts or Aikido. I think these internal principles can be applied to any external movement. Exceptional training.
I was at Hotton Sensei's clinic in Burlington this month and he was awesome. He explains everything in great detail. He is such a humble gentleman and such an inspiring teacher. If you ever have the chance to learn from this man, do not hesitate. You will come out of his class learning something new and feeling inspired. I've been training in Japanese Jiu Jitsu for 32 years and I learned so much from Hotton Sensei.
Internal power is generated from the abdomen area and directed through the body with the breath by the mind. ALL martial arts are 90% relaxation and breathing! I am currently 67yrs old and have been in constant training since I was 16. !0 yrs doing Wing Chun, 15yrs TKD reaching 3rd dan and now training in Shotokan as a 2nd dan. Those 2 points I mentioned at the beginning were taught to me by Master Kim Yong Ho a TKD 9th dan and I consider them the 2 most important things I have come to understand!
You should pay attention to practice many movements involving the feet. Because exercising hands too much will make the legs tend to shorten. Losing the beauty of our body.
