"CGT...met at a 1987 Guitar Craft course, in which Robert Fripp instructed them in the New Standard Tuning (NST). After completing several of Fripp's Guitar Craft courses, the three toured as part of Robert Fripp and The League of Crafty Guitarists"
Saw them open for KC in St. Petersburg --- what a magical show. At first, everyone was like, "What? and opening band?" But as they played they won EVERYONE over and the audience gave them a standing O and demanded an encore! I have never seen that happen to an opening band. Since then, I have seen CGT many times and buy all their CDs - and their Christmas Album is played EVERY Christmas - that and Charlie Brown Christmas are our musical staples. God bless the CGT!
I saw this same tour in SF and had a similar experience. Its hard for any band to be compatible with KC, but these guys were the perfect opener, everyone was blown away.
Their energy and ambiance was at its peak during this time period. Unlike a lot of bands, they were best in their live performances rather than studio recording sessions. This is the best set I've found since then.
I have been a fan of CGT ever since I first heard about them 20-ish years ago and have seen them several times. I just saw them locally last night and it was a great show!
Ah, 1995. I had a ponytail like Hideyo's, a couple of vests like Paul's, and a hat like Bert's. Unfortunately I'm just discovering the CGT in 2024 or I would have gone to see them in concert long ago!
this is from the same tour i first saw them, but in montreal . it was funny , i was vaguely aware of a thing called guitar craft , but that was about it, never heard of the CGT before, i made the connection by the end of the first song ! bought both cd's they had for sale in the lobby in between their set and crimsons
Epic! So glad someone was able to unearth and publish this performance. You can easily hear the Robert Fripp influence in much of this performance, and that's meant as a huge compliment.
Ehm. Talking about "influence".... Fripp *founded* Guitar Craft and was one of its main teachers, at least at the beginning (I attended a GC seminar in 1988).
ohhhhhh.. love this! you looked so funky, some eighties style carried over to the 90ies. :) and the music is just - haw! great sound quality too! i'm hoping against hopes that one day i might be able to see you life in europe. otherwise i'll have to carve out money to fly to the US specially, so i can see you melt strings on stage. I simply worship your music! thanks for this life gem during such culturally trying times.

Same. exact. experience. with the audience in Berlin. 1996. Opening for KC. It was magical.
The ending chord of Melrose Avenue (4:52) is perfection. What an amazing performance

@@paulweber9945 yes, that’s exactly what I meant. All of the CGT trained with Robert Fripp.
@@EarlLewis Ooops. Apologies for the misunderstanding!
Wow, an electric performance of great CGT classics! Especially Train to Lamy! Godspeed Bert, Hideyo, and Paul!
Awesome!👍👍🤘🤘👌. I’ll see them playing live soon ! They’ll open for King Crimson! 👏
Ни одного комментария на русском. Буду первый. Цитата из Court of the crimson king хороша!

Awesome, blissful, hats off, genius, etc....
And it is a very fine hat.
What a setlist! Great show guys. Does anyone know if they have a live performance of Arroyo somewhere? That's my all time favorite CGT piece.
Fabuloso y magistral. Una joya musical. Gracias por compartir.
Love these guys, Praying for them
