- During his career Dusko Goykovic built his own style recognizable for the preciseness, brilliance of his technique and warm sound in playing as well as melodic tunes in composing. His colourful life is like a mirror of a half a century of jazz history. He caused stylistic developments. Goykovic set technical standards, played with all the greats of the genre and finally became one of them. Since 1955 he has been a formative influence not only on the German jazz scene, performing and recording with such as Dizzy Gillespie, Gerry Mulligan, Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins, Lee Konitz, Chet Baker, Woody Herman, Johnny Griffin, Mal Waldron, Phil Woods, Tommy Flanagan, Kenny Clarke or Kenny Barron and many more and is highly admired in the USA and Japan. He is best known for his unmistakably melodic phrasing and his high-class ballad renditions on the trumpet, muted trumpet, and flugelhorn.

Superb trumpeter, almost whatever he played. May he rest in peace,
Nažalost preminuo je . A ostaje da živi i dalje. Uvek će uz njega biti novi ljubitelji muzike. Slava mu, večna.
Goykovich's trumpet always touches your heart
One of the lesser known jazz greats. A balladeer through and through. He belongs in the galaxy of the greatest jazzmen of our time. In the league of the Miles and Chets of this world...
You are correct my brother one of THE GREATS
I'd appreciate that you uploaded this album, there are big stars of trumpet players , Miles and Chet Baker, I love them so much, but I feel Goykovich is very close to me. Thank you again from Japan.
I am really in touch with you. Goykovich is a very moving musician for me. Cheers from Spain
My man!
Really a hiden gem!
' Džez je sloboda.' D.G.
Počivaj u miru, legendo.
Marvellous.
One of the best European trumpetplayers imo, great upload
hvala kućo
'Slavic Mood' is one of my favorite Dusko LP'S. Anything w/ Francy Boland. 'It's About Blues Time' on Ensayo. Too many to mention. I even like his live MPS.
Almost forgot 'Swinging Macedonia' w/ Nathan Davis on original German Phillips (or UK Lansdowne).
RIP Duško
Indeed. In the footsteps of Miles and Chet.

@@draganlakicevic4320 Thank You for the correction friend. Now I need to find a copy. I wish Speaker's Corner would reissue his live German MPS 'As Simple As It Is' & Nathan Davis 'Happy Girl' SABA, Mal Waldron 'Soul Eyes' SABA (W/ Nathan Davis. Their Nathan Davis gatefold of 'The Hip Walk' should be repressed!!! Elsie Bianchi SABA too. They did an exquisite job on those.
@@draganlakicevic4320 What does this LP usually sell for?
