Painting A Water Tank to Stop Algae Growth - Will It Work?

A great afternoon to paint our water tank with the goal to stop the growth of algae. Algae clogs the drip lines that water our vegetable garden so this job is a must.

been 4 months hold is the algae, did the paint peel off? I got four to paint. oh, I plan on using deck cleaner to clean the inside and out side.
